Brad Pitt says he needed ‘rebooting' after divorce with Angelina Jolie, recalls joining Alcoholics Anonymous to cope with alcohol addiction

Actor Brad Pitt has hardly ever been the one to mince his words about his personal life, career and any other episodes that take place in his life. The actor has talked about his long, drawn-out divorce with Angelina Jolie on multiple occasions, and for the most part, he has downplayed the entire separation. While promoting his upcoming film F1, the actor talked about the challenges he faced with alcohol addiction and how AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) helped him immensely after his divorce.
While talking to fellow actor Dax Shepard on his podcast, Pitt revealed how AA was a game changer for him, and when asked about whether he was comfortable talking about it, Pitt was very open and honest about how he and Dax actually met and bonded with each other for the first time. 'Actually I am quite at ease, not nervous at all. It was a men's group, and it was my first time getting sober, and I just thought there was an incredible level of 'sharing' – listening to people's experiences, their foibles, missteps, wants and aches – and there was a lot of humour with it. Coming from the background or situations I have been raised in, where you just pretend like everything is okay, it was a great feeling. I just needed to reboot, and wake up.'

Pitt appreciated Dax and how he made him feel during those AA meetings and said, 'He would usually be the last person to share, and he was like the elder statesman of the meeting. I just remember him identifying the theme of the evening and just telling his story in the funniest way possible, and that meant a lot to me.' Many fans reacted to Pitt's openness about his challenges with addiction and showed their appreciation and support for the actor in the comments. One user commented, 'Dax and Brad being AA bf's is my absolute favourite thing in the world,' while another user said how he shared this video with a relative of theirs who was also in recovery. Pitt and Jolie got married in 2014, and they filed for divorce in 2019. Divorce settlements finally came to an end in 2024.

Coming to his career, Pitt is currently waiting for the global release of this upcoming sports drama, F1, where he will play the role of racing veteran Sonny Hayes, who returns to Formula One in order to save his old teammates racing team. Actor Tom Cruise, who had talked about Pitt's driving skills and expressed his excitement for the movie, showed up to the premiere of the film and reunited with Pitt after almost 24 years. The duo posed with director Joseph Kosinski, who is responsible for both Pitt's F1 and Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick. Seeing the positive early reviews from the critics and the press, Pitt and company will be hoping to achieve a successful theatrical run after the movie released on June 27.
Helmed by Kosinski, the film features Pitt, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Lewis Hamilton, and several other real-life F1 drivers.

What did Brad Pitt do to look fit for F1? Director Joseph Kosinski answers

Brad Pitt plays the lead role in Joseph Kosinski's latest film 'F1', which follows a race car driver getting a second chance at victory. At 61, Brad is looking his best and had to maintain peak physical fitness for the film, in which he drives the race car an exclusive chat with India Today, Joesph Kosinski, the director of 'F1', revealed how Brad Pitt stayed fit during the shoot. Joseph said, 'You know he obviously takes care of himself. He is in incredible shape and that was really useful to this film because driving these cars is so physically gruelling. You have to be an athlete to be able to do it, you know, hour after hour to get in the car and shoot these rigorous scenes. And sometimes, you know, we would be shooting eight or ten hours a day in these cars. So, yes, it was physically demanding.'Adding that Brad did the driving himself, Joseph continued, 'Brad also has a real natural ability with driving. I couldn't have made this film if he hadn't been able to do that. And even Lewis Hamilton, who is also a co-producer on the film, was really impressed with Brad's athletic ability.'READ F1 REVIEW HEREJoseph has also directed 'Top Gun Maverick' with Tom Cruise. Having worked with the two biggest actors in the world, he spoke about the similarities between them and the differences. He revealed, 'I think they're more similar than people would realise. They are both great actors, obviously. They both work very hard and are very focus on every detail of the filmmaking process. They are both obviously very involved in the script all the way to the final edit. You know, on the outside, maybe Brad seems a little more relaxed and chilled out, but he's just as driven as Tom is and wants to deliver the best experience for an audience.' F1 will hit theatres in India on June 27.- Ends

Ahead of F1, Brad Pitt calls this former co-star ‘annoyingly good' at racing: ‘He is just a natural at everything he does'

With F1 the movie right around the corner, actor Brad Pitt has put the pedal to the metal when it comes to promotions. Pitt, who isn't really known for giving long interviews, let alone making appearances on a podcast, showed up on actor Dave Shepard's show The Armchair Expert. Pitt touched on several topics, including addiction, recovery, F1, early career and future plans. But what Brad was most excited about was his love for motor sports in general, and he shared several anecdotes about his racing hobby, including one of racing bikes with actor Channing Tatum. Pitt and Dave can be seen completely digressing from what they were talking about, as they both started 'nerding out' about racing and how Pitt very graciously offered to fly Dave to the last racing event they had. Dave said, 'I remember you suddenly asking me after an AA meeting whether I was going to the tracks or not, and then you offered to fly me there in your helicopter.' Pitt dodged the compliment and said that he is glad that he gets to do 'rock and roll' things like that once in a while. I wasn't as quick as some of these guys, like Channing.' To which Dave said, 'Let the record also reflect that Brad is also very quick and Channing was just annoyingly good very quickly. He is just one of those athletes who can do everything and is just a natural.' The duo also talked about Toto Wolff, who is the CEO of Mercedes's Formula One team, and how he talks about Lewis Hamilton also being a natural at everything he does. It's definitely high praise, coming from someone like Pitt, who has actually driven an F1 car and has been appreciated for his racing skills by the one and only Tom Cruise. During the CinemaCon earlier this year, Cruise expressed his excitement for F1 and recalled working with Pitt on the movie Interview With The Vampire (1994). 'It's great to see Brad driving; he's a very good driver, believe me. I have raced against him. When we were doing Interview With The Vampire, we used to go and race go-karts against each other. We would finish and then go race go-karts all night, and he was a hell of a driver.' It seems that Pitt will get to see more of Channing on the motorbike, as the duo are reportedly collaborating on a docu-series about one of the most dangerous races of all time, the Isle of Man TT. F1 has been directed by Joseph Kosinski, and the cast includes Pitt, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Lewis Hamilton. Pitt will play the role of a veteran driver who returns to Formula One and teams up with a rookie (Idris) to save his old friend's (Bardem) team. The film also features music from aristes like Ed Sheeran, BLACKPINK, Chris Stapleton, Doja Cat and more. It releases worldwide on June 27.
