Minister N. S. Boseraju launches the Petologist App - A Cutting-Edge Veterinary Platform for Pet Parents, Clinics and Farms

Karnataka [India], May 9: In a prestigious event that celebrated innovation in veterinary technology and sustainable farming, the Minister for Science and Technology, N. S. Boseraju, along with Vice Chancellor of Kodagu University, Dr. Ashok S. Alur, officially launched Petologist, a pioneering veterinary platform developed by Transduceideas Technologies LLP.
Petologist is an innovative digital healthcare platform designed to connect pet parents and farmers with licensed veterinarians, clinics, and hospitals. It offers features such as digital health records, vaccination tracking, medication reminders, farm animal monitoring, and telemedicine consultations, thereby redefining the way animal healthcare is delivered in both urban and rural settings. This transformative initiative is digitalising a healthcare platform developed to connect pet parents and farmers with licensed veterinarians, clinics, and hospitals. It offers features such as digital health records, vaccination tracking, medication reminders, farm animal monitoring, and telemedicine consultations, thereby redefining the way animal healthcare is delivered in both urban and rural settings.
Petologist is incubated under the RKVY-RAFTAAR Agribusiness Incubation (R-ABI) Scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, hosted at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI). IVRI, established in 1889, is India's premier institute for veterinary research and education, contributing significantly to animal health, vaccine development, and disease eradication.
The soft launch marks the beginning of a restricted release available exclusively to select veterinary doctors and clinics in Karnataka, allowing the platform to be fine-tuned before its nationwide rollout. During the ceremony, the contributions of Dr. Roopa Alur, Dr. K. Ravi Kumar, Shreyas A., and Vijay were recognized for their instrumental roles in developing animal health technologies by the Minister Tilak R.K. and Priyanka M were also honored for advisory on architecting a robust, scalable platforms in technology infrastructure in the software, ecommerce, agritech and veterinary care sectors.
"We are proud to introduce Petologist as a one-stop veterinary platform that empowers doctors while making pet and livestock care seamless for families and farmers," said the Petologist team. "Our goal is to democratize access to affordable, efficient veterinary care across India, starting with this phased launch in Karnataka."
Dr. Ashok S. Alur, Vice Chancellor lauded the initiative as a powerful example of how technology and science can serve rural development, sustainable farming, and animal welfare, urging more innovators to follow suit. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu targets 1,040 km of national highway expansion this year, ₹20k cr allocated
1 2 Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of completing 1,040 km of national highways (NH) in the current financial year with an outlay of 20,067 crore. In a review meeting with the officials of R&B, NHAI, and the contractors executing the road works on Monday, Naidu stated that all issues related to land acquisition, forest, and wildlife clearance should be resolved by the end of July. Naidu expressed dissatisfaction with the contractors for the delay in the execution of projects. He emphasised that no road construction should be delayed. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 770 km of roads were completed during the last fiscal year under NHAI and MoRTH with an investment outlay of 11,325 crore. The state has a total of 8,744 km of roads, including 4,406 km of NHAI roads, 641 km under PIU-MoRTH, and 3,697 km under NH(R&B). Currently, 3,483 km of roads are under construction across 144 projects under NHAI and MoRTH with an investment of Rs 76,856 crore. Some projects are set to begin soon, including 1,392 km under NHAI and 2,091 km under MoRTH. As part of the 'Mission Pothole-Free Roads' initiative launched by the chief minister in November last year with 860.81 crore, officials explained that 97% of the work was completed as of June 6. They stated that potholes have been filled, and repairs completed on 19,475 km of roads. Officials said the remaining road repairs are expected to be completed by July 31.

'New lease on life': IVRI makes history with successful indigenous hip transplant for dogs in India; reduces cost to Rs 30K
BAREILLY: The scientists at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) achieved a milestone by successfully performing the first hip transplant surgery using indigenous technology in the country. This hip transplant is notable for being entirely developed with local technology. Until now, artificial hips for dogs were not available in India and had to be imported, costing at least Rs 5 lakhs. For nearly three years, IVRI scientists, Dr Rohit Kumar and his team, conducted a comprehensive study to develop not only a cemented hip suitable for Indian dogs but also the necessary instruments. Dr Kumar and his team took on this challenge, initially seeking insights from renowned human orthopaedic surgeon Dr Alok Singh. With technical assistance from Dr Singh and Bareilly Medicare Firm's Yogesh Saxena and Devesh Saxena, Life Ortho Care in Gujarat helped in developing the artificial hip and its instruments for dogs. Dr Rohit Kumar mentioned that the developed hip is quite affordable, allowing dog owners in the country to receive excellent treatment at a lower cost in the future. Saw many surgeries in humans, developed all the dimensions on our own by taking multiple x-rays of the dogs. The cost of implant during the experimentation phase is between 25k-30k and even after commercialisation, the cost of hip replacement surgery would be very affordable. The best thing about it is that everything is developed and manufactured in India.' The technical design and dimensions were assigned to Dr T Sai Kumar for MVSc research and Dr Kamlesh Kumar for PhD research. This work was carried out under the AINP-DIMSCA (All India Network Programme on Diagnostic Imaging for Surgical Conditions in Animals) project by the team of Dr Rohit Kumar, Dr Amarpal, Dr A C Saxena, and Dr AM Pawde. Dr Amarpal said, 'This is the first time such a study was systematically conducted in the country, with the first surgery performed in Dehradun, the second in Bareilly, and the third on a police dog in Sambhal, giving them a new lease on life." On this achievement, IVRI's Director Dr Triveni Dutt lauded the collective efforts of the entire team and encouraged making this technology available to dog owners nationwide and transferring it to the industry as soon as possible.
