Maldives becomes 8th country benefiting from "Makkah Route" Initiative

MALE — Saudi Arabia launched the "Makkah Route" Initiative in the Maldives on Monday, making it the eighth country to benefit from the initiative. The other countries are Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Côte d'Ivoire.
Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the Makkah Route Initiative at Velana International Airport in Male in the presence of Chairman of the "Makkah Route" Supervisory Committee Lt. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Yahya, Maldives Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Saudi Embassy in the Maldives Fahad Al-Dosari.
A high-level Saudi delegation, including officials from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as senior officials from the Maldivian government also attended the ceremony.
The first group of 234 Maldivian pilgrims under the Makkah Route Initiative left the Male airport for Saudi Arabia.
The "Makkah Route" Initiative focuses on facilitating the smooth and seamless completion of all travel procedures for pilgrims from beneficiary countries in their designated embarkation points. These include issuing Hajj visas electronically, taking biometrics, completing entry procedures to the Kingdom from the airport of the country of departure after verifying that the required health requirements are met.
The process involves coding and sorting luggage according to transportation and accommodation arrangements in the Kingdom. The passengers are then transferred directly to buses to be transported to their residences in Makkah and Madinah. Partner agencies are responsible for the delivery of their luggage to buses and accommodation of the pilgrims.
The Ministry of Interior is implementing the initiative for the seventh year in a row as part of the Doyof Al-Rahman Program, one of the programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. This initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Endowments, the Doyof Al-Rahman Program, and the General Directorate of Passports.

Shipments can be easily tracked through the SPL app or official website. As a key logistics provider during the Hajj season, SPL delivers professional, high-quality services tailored to the unique needs of the Hajj and Umrah sector. ACP, China Eastern Airlines Explore Deeper Cooperation
Majid Khan, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program (ACP), recently attended the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East Air Connectivity Conference in Shanghai. During the event, he explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between ACP and Asian carriers, with a particular focus on China. In a fireside chat titled 'Strengthening Air Connectivity Between Saudi Arabia and China,' Khan highlighted Saudi Arabia's national tourism strategy, its rich cultural offerings, and the ease of access for Chinese and Asian travelers. On the sidelines of the conference, Khan met with Liu Tiexiang, President of China Eastern Airlines, to discuss expanding cooperation and enhancing air routes between the Kingdom and China. Moreover, their discussions centered on increasing direct flights and facilitating smoother travel between the two countries. China Eastern Airlines, in partnership with ACP, has already experienced notable progress, with direct Shanghai–Riyadh flights growing from three to six weekly services over the past year. Mina in its finest attire as the Tent City prepares to receive guests of God
Saudi Gazette report MINA — The holy site of Mina is shining in its finest attire as over 1.5 million pilgrims are set to descent on the sprawling Tent City from morning of Wednesday, Dhul Hijjah 8, corresponding to June 4, to spend the Day of Tarwiyah, marking the beginning of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj. The pilgrims will depart Mina for Arafat at dawn of Thursday, Dhul Hijjah 9, corresponding to June 5, to perform the ritual of standing at Arafat, the pinnacle of Hajj. Aerial photos, broadcast by the Saudi Press Agency, showed the bright lights illuminating the night in Mina, where high-tech tents are lined up to receive the pilgrims. The vast network of roads in the Tent City is poised to receive buses and cars transporting the pilgrims, while government vehicles and foot teams are engaged in inspecting the huge Jamarat Complex to ensure its readiness for the stoning rituals. Mina, a small valley located five kilometers to the east of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, is an integral site for the Hajj pilgrimage. The landscape of Mina is dominated by vast arrays of white tents, specifically designed to accommodate the multitudes of pilgrims. These tents are fire-resistant and are equipped with essential amenities to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims throughout their stay. The Tent City is spreading over an area with a capacity to accommodate more than 2.6 million pilgrims during the peak pilgrimage season. The infrastructure in Mina is a marvel of modern engineering and logistics, designed to handle the enormous influx of visitors smoothly and efficiently. The site includes extensive networks of roads, bridges, and tunnels to facilitate the movement of pilgrims between Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah — all major sites of the Hajj ritual.
