CHICAGO — Job seekers and entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to advance their careers with Chicago's world-class airports at an event taking place next week.
The Airport Expo and Job Fair is set to take place at the UIC Forum on Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Major runway at Chicago Midway Airport gets $47 million makeover
A major runway at Chicago Midway International Airport is getting a multi-million dollar makeover, and the project broke ground Thursday. The Chicago Department of Aviation will be reconfiguring Runway 13C/31C to create two new taxiways, as well as doing some major repaving and installing new runway guard lights. The project has been in the works since 2022. As a part of the ongoing efforts to improve operations at Midway, the existing Runway 13L/31R, which the city said has been closed since 2023, will be permanently decommissioned as of June 12. When that happens, Runway 13C/31C will be redesignated as Runway 13L/31R. The goal of the project is for aircraft to be able to take off more efficiently, and reduce delays and traffic across the airfield. The groundbreaking event was attended by officials from the Chicago Department of Aviation and Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Lymphoma Research Foundation Awards 24 Grants to Next Generation of Lymphoma Scientists to Advance Critical Research
Foundation Underscores Commitment to Lymphoma Research with Multi-Million Dollar Investment NEW YORK, June 4, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation, the nation's largest nonprofit organization devoted to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community, has awarded 24 new research grants in 2025. These grants, totaling $2.7 million, will support cutting-edge investigations aimed at improving lymphoma diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes. Each year, the Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) identifies and funds the most promising lymphoma research projects conducted by leading scientists and early-career investigators from top institutions across the country. The 2025 grantee class encompasses 16 medical and academic institutions, with research initiatives investigating a range of lymphoma subtypes and scientific disciplines including CAR T cell therapy, microenvironment analysis, and treatments for relapsed/refractory patients. "The research funded through these grants represents the forefront of lymphoma discovery and innovation," said Ann LaCasce, MD Chair of the Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board. "These projects have the potential to transform our understanding of the disease and lead to new, more effective treatment strategies for patients." Since lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) are considered rare diseases, it receives disproportionately less federal and philanthropic funding for research than other types of cancer. The Foundation's grant program plays a crucial role in accelerating discoveries and fostering the next generation of lymphoma experts. Since its inception 30 years ago, the Foundation has committed more than $82 million to research grants that have led to significant advancements in lymphoma care and treatment options. Laying the Foundation At the time, our efforts were centered on establishing foundational projects that would set the stage for future innovation. By leveraging Cisco's 5G-as-a-Service, we're developing proofs-of-concept to enhance safety infrastructure. Additionally, we're collaborating on an AI-driven Security and Network Operations platform to help HTX effectively manage and counter advanced cyber threats. This initiative aims to transform public safety measures and position Singapore as a leader in digital transformation for homeland security. At the Port of Rotterdam, Cisco's CDA program is pioneering the integration of quantum computing to revolutionize logistics and operations. By establishing the first quantum network, we're enhancing data processing capabilities, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and setting a new standard for smart port technology.
