Richard Simmons' palatial mansion hits the market for eye-watering sum nearly a year after his death at age 76
The palatial Hollywood Hills mansion owned by the late Richard Simmons is now on the market for nearly $7,000,000. The gated, colonial-style home located above the Sunset Strip has been listed for $6,999,999. Simmons died at the home last year, just one day after celebrating his 76th birthday. The reclusive fitness guru resided at the home with his devoted friend and house manager, Teresa Reveles, and abruptly stopped making public appearances in 2014, sparking concern from fans. According to the home's listing, which is being held by John A. Lucy of Keller Williams Hollywood Hills, the property was built in 1937 and boasts an array of amenities, including a maid's suite, pool, pool house, updated kitchen, music room, and terraced side yard. Simmons was found in his home by his longtime housekeeper on July 13, 2024 - just one day after celebrating his 76th birthday. A cause of death was revealed back in August, with the Los Angeles Coroner's office informing Simmons' brother Lenny that the death had been 'accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.' 'The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed,' family spokesperson Tom Estey told People. 'The Family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.' Lenny had previously told People that he didn't want 'people to be sad about my brother,' but rather to 'remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people's lives.' 'He truly cared about people. He called, wrote and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help,' Lenny said. Simmons had fallen in the bathroom of his home on Friday, July 12 - which marked his 76th birthday - and Reveles had attempted to persuade him to seek immediate medical help, but he declined because it was his birthday, TMZ previously reported. Simmons said he didn't want to go anywhere, informing her that he might go on July 13. Reveles helped him safely get back to his bedroom, where she found him unresponsive the following morning on the floor at around 10 a.m., according to the outlet. He was later pronounced dead on the scene. 'When I saw him, he looked peaceful,' she told People last July of finding Simmons. She noted his hands were balled into fists, prompting her to believe he died of a heart attack. 'That's why I know it was a heart attack. I had a heart attack a few years ago, and my hands did the same.' Simmons was a legendary fitness guru who grew up in the French quarter of New Orleans before settling in California. He weighed 268 pounds when he graduated from high school, his website said. His own story of struggling with weight loss, where he tried everything from fad diets to laxatives before settling on exercise and better lifestyle choices, inspired millions to do the same. Simmons became a master of many media forms, sharing his hard-won weight-loss tips as host of the Emmy-winning daytime 'Richard Simmons Show' and author of best-selling books and the diet plan Deal-A-Meal. He also opened exercise studios and starred in exercise videos, including the wildly successful 'Sweatin' to the Oldies' line, which became a cultural phenomenon. Simmons' daytime show was seen on 200 stations in America, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan and South America. His first book, 'Never Say Diet', was a smash best-seller. He was known to counsel the severely obese, including Rosalie Bradford, who held records for being the world's heaviest woman, and Michael Hebranko, who credited Simmons for helping him lose 700 pounds. After winning a legion of fans with his infectious enthusiasm and positivity, Simmons stepped away from the limelight in 2014. TMZ founder Harvey Levin later said the fitness icon doesn't spend all his time at his home. 'We found out he likes going to the beach, he'll go shopping, he'll just go out and get air,' he told Good Day in 2022. In 2022, Simmons' spokesperson Tom Estey provided a statement to the New York Post saying that he was 'happy, healthy and living the life he has chosen to live.'

Marcus Rashford 'grows close' to semi-pro padel star as pair spotted on holiday
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford will be on the hunt for a new club this summer after falling out with Ruben Amorim - but for now he is taking time off by taking a holiday in Saint Tropez Marcus Rashford has been spotted with semi-pro padel player Jaki Palm in Saint Tropez, with the pair reportedly "growing close" in France. Rashford is enjoying some time on holiday after his Premier League season was ended by a hamstring injury during his loan spell at Aston Villa. Rashford's immediate future is uncertain with Villa unlikely to sign him permanently despite having a £40million option to buy. The 27-year-old doesn't appear to have a future at United so long as Ruben Amorim is manager after falling out with the coach last season. The Portuguese boss said he would rather name his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital on the bench rather than a player who "does not give the maximum" and Rashford will be looking for another new club this summer. For now Rashford is attempting to take some time off amid speculation over his next move and has been enjoying time in the French seaside town - where he has been spending time with Palm. The semi-pro padel player and social media personality is based in Dubai and reportedly met Rashford in the Middle East when he travelled for treatment on his hamstring in April - and the two are now said to be getting on well in France. A source told the Sun: "Marcus went to have rehab for a hamstring injury in Dubai and was introduced to Jaki. She then joined him with his mates and another woman in St Tropez for a holiday. It's all very casual but Jaki has told her friends she's grown close to him. "She's being very coy about it. But Marcus is playing the field like young men his age. He is just having fun in the Premier League off-season and he's had a rough time with his hamstring so to see him having a laugh is what the doctor ordered." Palm has more than 10,000 followers on her Instagram account and often shares clips of her playing padel, inviting fans to follow her journey in the sport. Rashford has previously been linked to former Love Island star Grace Jackson - after splitting up with childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi two years ago. The England international has been in the public eye since making his United debut in 2015. Rashford has gone on to play 426 times for his boyhood club and has also picked up 62 caps for England. Most recently, he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but reports have claimed that the La Liga side aren't willing to sanction a £40m move for the winger and are only interested in a loan.

Butterfly Lavender, also known as French Lavender, is loved for its frilly blooms and aromatic leaves. It flowers from late spring right through summer and even into autumn if looked after properly. It will go dormant in winter, and return bigger and bushier next year if maintained properly. Advertisement How to care for lavender To get the most out of your lavender, plant it in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Once it's settled in, it won't need much watering – in fact, it prefers to stay on the dry side. French lavender typically flowers from late spring into early autumn, with a peak bloom period between May and September. Some varieties, like Lavandula stoechas 'Papillon' and 'Tiara', are known for their continuous flowering from late spring to early autumn. Advertisement After French lavender flowers, you should trim the spent flower stalks to encourage more blooms and keep the plant compact. Aldi is selling a cheap $4.49 item that will transform your garden into a colorful summer paradise You can also prune the plant back in late summer or early spring to rejuvenate it and prevent it from becoming woody. French lavender is a versatile herb with various culinary and creative applications. Beyond its beautiful scent and visual appeal, it can be used for baking, creating bath products, making essential oils, and even crafting home decor items like sachets or potpourri. The 5 best flowers to help bees to thrive Nature experts at Faith In Nature have shared the 5 best flowers Brits can plant in their gardens to help bees thrive. Rebecca Miller, Fabulous' Associate Editor and keen gardener explains why "bees are brilliant". "They are vital. They pollinate our food and play a crucial role in our ecosystem. But climate change, the increasing use of pesticides and loss of habitat means bees are endangered. No matter how big your garden or outside space is, you can plant a flower or two to help bees." Lavender Lavender can thrive in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. It's fragrant and flowers all-summer-long meaning it's a big hit with bees - especially bumble bees. Sunflowers This cheery flower giant are bee-magnets. And if you look closely at a sunflower head, the big 'flowers' are actually a cluster of small flowers, called an inflorescence which attract pollinators. Ideally, grow sunflowers in groups to provide nectar and pollen for as many bees as possible. At the end of summer, collect the dried seeds from the sunflower heads to feed the birds or plant next year. Heather These abundant, bell-shaped blooms are brimming with nectar and pollen – which is good news for bees. Cornflowers A vivid blue wildflower, cornflowers are often planted alongside other meadow blooms, like ox-eye daisies and poppies. They grow on tall stems and are packed with nectar, making them particularly attractive to bees. Cornflowers bloom for a long time and are simple to grow, so they're perfect for first-time gardeners and experienced alike. Crocuses (and snowdrops) Later this summer, when you're starting to plan for your Spring displays, consider crocuses and snowdrops. They provide bees, such as the queen buff-tailed bumblebee and male hairy-footed flower bees, with vital early pollen as they emerge from their winter hibernation. Over at Waitrose Garden and Hillier, prices range from £7.99 to £13.99, depending on the size and variety. This is the latest in a string of green-fingered savings from ALDI. Earlier this month, rival Lidl launched a range of garden plants starting from just £1.99, undercutting pricier garden centres and online sellers. Advertisement
