The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no official explanation has been provided.
However, the incident comes at a highly sensitive moment, as tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel intensify following the breakdown of nuclear negotiations and fresh allegations from the International Atomic Energy Agency accusing Tehran of non-cooperation.
This incident follows a devastating explosion and fire at the Port of Shahid Rajaee, part of Bandar Abbas's vital port infrastructure, on April 26, 2025.
That blast, which reportedly involved containers possibly holding ammonium perchlorate (a powerful rocket fuel oxidizer), killed 57 people and injured more than 1,000. The Iranian government enforced a media blackout at the time.
The Port of Shahid Rajaee is Iran's largest commercial port, handling around 80 million tons of cargo annually. It is strategically located on the Strait of Hormuz and is a key artery for Iran's global trade and naval logistics.
Both incidents come amid escalating nuclear tensions between Iran and the West. As negotiations with the U.S. remain deadlocked and the IAEA accuses Tehran of non-cooperation, Iran's Foreign Ministry recently confirmed that national security had been placed on high alert following the April explosion.

Video captures moment missile hits buildings in Tel Aviv
ALBAWABA - The continuing conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv became more intense on Thursday as a fresh round of Iranian missile missiles hit the city. A video that has gone viral on social media shows the dramatic moment when many Iranian missiles fell in the city at various locations, followed by strong explosions. Also Read Several Iranian missiles hit various areas in Israel Several Locations in Central Israel Are Targeted According to Israeli media, Iran fired three waves of ballistic missiles in a 24-hour period, allegedly aiming at seven separate sites in central Israel. In response, the Israeli military countered what it called "continuous threats" by turning on air defense systems, including missile interception capabilities. According to local accounts, a missile struck a residential building in Tel Aviv, causing it to catch fire. Although emergency personnel raced to the site, it is still unknown how many people were killed or injured. A sizable fire close to the Ministry of Defense's Tel Aviv headquarters was also reported by Channel 13. Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, indicating the increasing ferocity of the assaults, and thick plumes of smoke were seen rising over the city's high-rises. Israeli insiders informed Channel 12 that the government is planning a retaliatory reaction to the attacks, which may include attacking Iranian civilian targets. "Iran will pay a heavy price for attacking central Israel," one insider said. Preliminary estimates indicate that Iran fired some 150 missiles in this most recent onslaught, one of the largest barrages in the current war to date. With both sides threatening more retaliation, the recent surge in missile attacks represents a risky escalation in hostilities. While emergency personnel continue to survey the damage, residents in impacted regions are still under shelter orders.

First-Time unprecedented destruction in Israel: Buildings hit, casualties reported
ALBAWABA - Iran conducted a massive missile strike on Israel Thursday night, its most powerful direct attack on Israeli land to date, in a dramatic escalation of regional tensions. Only eighteen hours had passed since Israel launched a broad military campaign against Iranian sites when the attack occurred. Also Read Several Iranian missiles hit various areas in Israel Iran Issues a Serious Warning and Verifies Strikes Dozens of Israeli military and air force locations were targeted by the missile assaults, which were claimed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to Iranian state television, the attack was directed against what it described as the "military bases and airfields of the Zionist regime." Speaking to Reuters, a senior Iranian official said that "there will be no safe place in Israel" and that the murder of Iranian commanders, scientists, and citizens will be met with agonizing revenge. The official said, "The Zionist enemy will pay a heavy price." Details Are Withheld by Israeli Authorities To yet, Israeli authorities have not revealed the whole scope of the damage. In order to prevent Iranian troops from using such intelligence to fine-tune future assaults, the Israeli army has warned the people not to share images or videos of missile hit locations. In order to combat incoming ballistic missiles and drones, the military also triggered emergency procedures, deploying long-range interception systems and air defense systems like the Iron Dome. The "True Promise 3" operation The invasion was dubbed "Operation True Promise 3" by Tehran, which had previously conducted two offensives under the same name in April and October of 2024. Analysts, however, believe that this third operation is the most devastating and extensive of the series. Increasing Death Toll Israel's main television said shortly after the assaults that 17 people were hurt, although it did not say what kind of injuries they had. Magen David Adom, the emergency medical service, later verified that the number had increased to 21, with two people in serious condition. In Tel Aviv, where one of the rockets impacted a residential structure, emergency personnel reportedly reported individuals buried under rubble. Pervasive Damage All across Israel The damage was characterized as extensive and serious by Israeli emergency services and police. The occurrence was described as a huge event by the head of Tel Aviv district police, who also noted damage in many areas and the fall of full floors in other structures. According to Channel 13, the devastation in central Israel was "unprecedented," with scores of cars and structures suffering damage from falling debris from intercepted rockets or direct impacts. Affected Cities Israeli media reported that at least nine different locations were targeted nationwide. Panic was sparked by thick smoke plumes rising above Tel Aviv and air raid sirens resonating over Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba, and other places. Residents have been advised by authorities to stay inside shelters and refrain from going back out on the streets until further notice. According to police, they are in charge of many impact zones where inhabited areas were hit by debris or missiles. Regional Consequences The scope and severity of the Iranian attack represent a dramatic change in the long-running war between the two countries. International observers are keeping a careful eye out for possible reprisals and wider regional repercussions as the situation continues to be unstable.
