'TEMPERATURE can be your friend or your foe', says coach Rick Parcell as I plunge into a swimming pool on a chilly morning in the Spanish countryside.

After a turbulent few months in my personal life, I decided it was time for a reset. And where better than a celeb-approved fitness and wellness retreat at a stunning villa in rural Andalucia?
While the idea of a traditional 'boot camp' conjures up images of army-style drills and harsh discipline, The Body Camp is an entirely different proposition.
High-energy workouts combined with a mindfulness programme empower guests both physically and emotionally.
A focus on mental strength and eliminating negative self-talk uses a tried-and-tested Inner Technology workbook.
So-called 'Weasel Words' such as 'can't' are banned. After a tough session, instead of 'sore muscles', we have 'sexy muscles developing'. You get the picture.
To the uninitiated, it sounds cringey. But there is no room for that here, I soon learn. Several days later, I would be hiking in a bright yellow tutu skirt searching for toy dinosaurs!
A sign reading 'You are exactly where you need to be' greeted my companions and I upon arrival at the spectacular rural estate, which boasts panoramic views of the surrounding El Torcal mountains.
The property, around 40 minutes from Malaga, features ten lush country house bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. As I sat down for our first dinner that night, I was admittedly nervous about what I had signed up for.
The concept of working out with, and baring your soul to, a group of strangers for seven days is enough to make even the most uninhibited person shiver.
But non-judgment is a recurring theme over the week, and you quickly find your walls coming down as you connect with people of all shapes and all walks of life.
I spent three days at a sleep retreat - these are the top 7 things I learnt
Whether navigating divorce, bereavement, illness or parenting difficulties, we all share the same common goal: to improve ourselves and cultivate good habits going forward.
In a very artificial world, the whole experience is refreshingly stripped back. There is no make-up, no phones at the table, no alcohol and no TV — just genuine human connections.
Every mealtime, our name cards were shuffled around, allowing us to sit next to someone new and get to know them better.
A mixture of high-intensity interval training, boxing, hiking, circuits, resistance sessions provided the perfect opportunity to push ourselves out of comfort zones.

Coach Rick's unfaltering energy and support had me constantly reaching far beyond the physical barriers I thought my body could handle.
At one point, I found myself running laps of the villa in a weighted vest, feeling like an SAS soldier training in the Brecon Beacons.
It's undoubtedly hard work, but the programme's 'full-immersion' ethos means participants engage in the workouts to the best of their ability — and we are all each other's biggest cheerleaders.
Exercises can suit all fitness and mobility levels, but are still challenging enough to get your blood pumping.
Most of all, we were consistently reminded by founder Kate Whale that it is supposed to be FUN.
Dance teacher Cass, whose infectious energy has you grinning from ear to ear, put us to work releasing our inhibitions during a dance cardio session as we learned choreography to the iconic 1980s hit 'Lambada' by Kaoma.
And coach Rick cheered us on during an entertaining Arnold Schwarzenegger 'Muscle Beach' inspired weight training session under the pleasant heat of the Spanish sun.
While the mornings are primarily reserved for sweating it out, the afternoons at Body Camp are dedicated to stretching, yoga, and mindfulness.
During a guided meditation, I even managed to lie still for 20 minutes, listening to the soundtrack of birds chirping and trees rustling in the breeze.

We were in safe hands with the wonderful Rosie, who reassured us that yoga is not about mastering fancy poses, it's about listening to your body and what it needs.
And after burning thousands of calories a day, what your body most definitely needs is the correct fuel to maximise your performance and aid recovery.
Ben Whale, The Body Camp's head chef, ensures that set menus are gut-healthy, nutrient-dense, and balanced with the right combination of protein, carbs and fats.
There is a common misconception that healthy eating means green, bland, rabbit food — an idea that was swiftly quashed by our first sit-down meal together.
The culinary offering at Body Camp is delicious, colourful, and filling, featuring dishes such as Thai green curry, protein pancakes, chia pudding, and homemade 'Snickers' bars.
A daily staple of three meals and two snacks a day means you are never too far away from your next feed. It's a far cry from the toxic diet culture that dominated the noughties, with no scales in sight.
Caffeine is limited to breakfast only, and as someone who drinks coffee like it's going out of fashion, I found I coped remarkably well keeping hydrated with flavoured teas and water.

The team ensured we had scheduled downtime every evening for relaxation, while group activities had us all in fits of laughter as we tried to work out what unit of speed a computer mouse is measured in — it's a mickey.
There were tears, too. What started as a mishmash of strangers making small talk turned into group therapy by the week's end.
During one exercise, we all sat in silence, writing a letter to ourselves that reinforced all the positive affirmations we had learned during the week. These letters will be posted to us in six months' time.
The Body Camp really allows you to take stock of your life in the best way, while challenging the limiting beliefs you hold about yourself.
It reminds you how capable you are in the moments when you feel like throwing in the towel, and I left feeling toned and energised, with a bunch of new pals.
My advice: take the plunge and book a week at The Body Camp!

Adult throws tantrum at airport gate after being told her luggage was too heavy

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video This is the moment a tourist had an oh-so-public breakdown after she was blocked from boarding a flight. Airport staff at Milan Malpensa Airport in Italy stopped the tourist over the weight of her hand luggage on June 8. Her carry-on suitcase was too heavy to take on board and she was ordered to pay extra or throw away some contents. What followed was an airport tantrum more akin to a child being told they can't have their favourite sweet treat. Footage shows the middle-aged woman sobbing and crying, all while flapping her hands in the air. Authorities struggled to get a handle on the situation and she was booted from the flight. The tourist rebooked a new ticket for the following day once she had calmed down. But trouble-making passengers aren't exclusive to the ground. One nightmare passenger was hauled off a Ryanair flight from Tenerife after she was allegedly aggressive to other passengers and made a bomb threat. The flight from the Spanish island to Prestwick on May 18 had to be diverted to Faro in Portugal after things got out of hand. More Trending One man thought he had escaped trouble until a passenger vomited on him moments before they were due to take off on a 13-hour trip from Taiwan to Austria. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Someone on the flight told local media: 'The cabin door was already closed, and then that person started vomiting. 'There was an older man on his right, and when he saw him vomiting, he immediately stood up. 'The flight attendants later helped move that older man's seat, but that whole row was then blocked off and no one could sit there.' EuroMillions rolls over AGAIN as UK's biggest prize at £208m goes unclaimed – everything you need to know for next draw

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE massive EuroMillions jackpot prize of £208million will roll over again after the money went unclaimed. While the hefty sum wasn't won players should still check their tickets to see if they can claim a smaller chunk of the total prize money on offer. Four lucky players matched the five main and one star, but nobody matched all five and both the lucky stars. The jackpot prize had already been rolled over previously after the last draw failed to find a winner. The eye-watering sum is the largest prize the UK has seen. Read More on the Lottery NO LUCK! EuroMillions jackpot rolls over AGAIN as UK's biggest ever prize goes unclaimed Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, said previously: "Tuesday sees the £208 million EuroMillions jackpot still up for grabs. "A win of this magnitude would create the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen - making a single UK winner instantly richer than the likes of Dua Lipa and Harry Kane while also landing them at the number one spot on the National Lottery's biggest wins list. "The EuroMillions jackpot is now capped, so any money that would have gone into increasing the jackpot now boosts prizes in the next winning prize tier, meaning that we could see multiple UK players banking huge prizes for matching just the five main numbers and one Lucky Star." In the previous week's draw the main EuroMillions winning numbers were 20, 21, 29, 30, 35 and the Lucky Stars were 02, 12. One UK ticket-holder became a millionaire after matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star, winning £2.02million. No players won the £500,000 Thunderball jackpot by matching the five Thunderball numbers, 03, 14, 31, 32, 34, and the Thunderball number 06. EuroMillions jackpot winner Frances Connolly reveals surprising first item she bought with £114m jackpot It comes after an anonymous UK ticket holder won the existing record jackpot of £195million on July 19 2022. Just two months earlier, Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, bagged £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the draw on May 10. The UK's third biggest win came after an anonymous ticket-holder scooped the £177million jackpot on November 26 last year. It came after 11 millionaires were made on the National Lottery draw in just one week in 2024. One lucky Brit won a cool £33million with their Euromillions ticket. Another ticket, which was snagged in the UK, matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars. It came just weeks after two players from the same county scooped £1m each. This year, the largest win was seen in January with £83million. A previous EuroMillions lottery winner, who scooped an eye-watering £107million jackpot, has revealed why he went public with the news. Neil Trotter bagged the whopping prize money and was faced with a huge decision whether or not to remain anonymous. The 45-year-old chose to splash the cash and filled his driveway with a Jaguar and a Porsche - before upgrading their parking spaces to a luxury mansion. But, Neil explained it can be tricky to go public because of pressure to provide people with money. However, he was overjoyed to buy his sister a house, and help out family and friends privately. He told the BBC: "It was quite tricky but I don't really see that there's any option [other] than to go public. "If you want to live the dream - which is have the house, the money and spend it, you've got to go public. "People have said in the past they would hide the money, I think £170million is going to be impossible to hide. "This is the lake that I bought and the big house and I'm living my dream." But he did previously admit he has been hounded by people making up claims to snap up his cash. He said: "I have had loads of people contact me on Facebook, I've probably got about four million kids in this country. "Everyone wants a bit of money." Elsewhere, a lucky couple thought they'd only bagged £2.60 on the lottery - but soon discovered they had scooped the £61million jackpot. Richard and Debbie Nuttall, both 54, from Colne, Lancashire, took home the life-changing sum in the EuroMillions draw. The couple were enjoying a holiday in Fuerteventura, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary, when they discovered the big win. Richard revealed they originally thought they had won £2.60, but then received another email telling the pair to check their account. 'I thought it was odd and there must be a glitch in the system to get a duplicate email but I logged in again to my National Lottery account to check," he explained. "We were totally stunned, it said we had won over £61million," said the winner.

Four Father's Day 2025 unique and thoughtful gifts which will arrive on time for Sunday

Father's Day 2025 is coming this weekend and for those who are yet to buy anything for the big day, we have got you covered with this gift guide that is sure to please all of the father's out there - and they are still available to arrive before Sunday! Father's Day is just around the corner and there are sure to be a few last minute shoppers out there who have either forgotten about the date or left it last minute and are now scrambling for ideas. The big day falls on Sunday June 15th this year and while a crate of beers or a box of his favourite chocolates are sure to make the majority of men smile, you may be looking to go the extra mile this year. To help those who are looking for something a little more personal for the special father or grandfather figure in their life this year, I have compiled a short gift guide that covers a range of items that are sure to please every man - from foodies and alcohol enthusiasts to health and wellness and experience day lovers. After all, the day only comes around once a year so why not branch out a little this year and think outside of the box a little. Here's some inspiration for those searching for a unique gift this Father's Day which are all still available to snatch up before Sunday.. Foodie dad As the old saying goes, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So food could be a perfect present for all the foodie dads out there but not just any old food - a fancy box of Spanish tapas ingredients. Box Tapas creates a gorgeous collection of Spanish ingredients, allowing you to create authentic and delicious tapas with new flavours and products that have never before been available in the uk. Shoppers can choose from a range of five Tapas Boxes, including Classic, Vegetarian, Seafood, Chorizo or Gourmet, with prices starting from £54.59. Each box contains a carefully curated set of quality ingredients (10-14 per box) which can be used to produce a range of tapas dishes. Buyers can expect authentic, high quality tapas fundamentals such as Whole Gordal Olives or Valencian Almonds with Fine Herbs. Other items are traditional Spanish sauces which require a few other basic ingredients like rustic bread or potatoes to make a dish such as the spicy Salsa Brava, nutty and creamy Romesco, garlic-rich Alioli or the Iberico Pate with Paprika. When deciding on a box, shoppers can see the full list of ingredients within each one and a whole list of recipes for each one to inspire those creating the tapas. Box Tapas would make a very thoughtful Father's Day present for those looking to spoil a food lover. It will also make a very impressive 'picky bits' feast which dads can share with their family and friends or impress dinner party guests with. You can buy a box from Box Tapas directly from their website or purchase it from Amazon with next day delivery available here. Boozy dad Another popular gift for men is alcohol. For the dads out there who drink spirits and enjoy finding new brands or small businesses that sell their own alcohol, then this could be the perfect gift this Father's Day. Wiltshire-based distillery Witchmark offers a range of world-class specially created batches of vodka and gin and whiskey. Witchmark creates its own neutral grain spirit and its single malt whiskey from barley grown on the estate where the distillery stands, ensuring complete quality control from grain to glass. The distillery recently announced its B Corp classification, making it now the highest-scoring distillery in England with the World Drinks Awards recognising Witchmark's Vodka with Gold Award and their BLack Lime Gin with a Silver Award. The Witchmark Single Origin English Vodka which comes in a 70cl bottle is described as 'smooth, clean and crisp' with a rich and creamy flavour. Produced in small batches and with only 1,250 bottles available at the price point of £43, this is likely to be a great present for any spirit loving dad. Meanwhile, their Black Lime Gin has been described as 'bright, vibrant and zesty' is also available in a 70cl bottle and is priced at £43. The website's description reads: "Black Lime gin is a bold spirit, capturing exotic spices and citrus complexity. Juniper and coriander form its base, elevated by smoky black lime and numbing Szechuan pepper. Clove and orris root add warmth, while elderberry and yuzu provide a fruity, zesty finish." The entire spirit collection can be bought directly from their website or directly from Amazon with speedier delivery here. Wellness dad While there are so many thoughtful gifts that can be bought for Father's Day, what could be better than the gift of good sleep? Silent Night are offering some last minute Father's Day gifts from their anti-snore range - an ideal dad-friendly sleep gift which has been proven to reduce snoring frequency and volume by approximately 50%. The Silent Night Luxury Anti-Snore pillow, priced at £19.99 on Amazon, features an ergonomically shaped foam core to help support the head and reduce snoring, additionally featuring a soft-touch quilted cover for added luxury. The range has even been tested by the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association who confirmed the pillow successfully reduced snoring frequency and volume by around 50%. Shoppers have also left glowing five star reviews with one stating: "Really great pillow, super comfortable and durable and definitely helped to reduce my snoring by a fair bit. Exactly as described, super happy with my purchase." The pillow is perfect for the father figures who find their sleep being impacted by snoring and can be bought online here from Amazon. Experience dad We have all heard the classic line - "I don't need anything" - before when asking a man what they would like to be gifted for a special occasion. And while most of the time, they are just being polite and urging their loved one to save their pennies, perhaps not giving a physical gift is the way to go this Father's Day. Instead, why not consider an experience present which is a great way to spend some quality time together which is one of the most important gifts of all. Flight Club is a popular social darts bar experience based in Glasgow City Centre on George Street which offers various fun and fast paced multiplayer games designed to bring people together and create a fun and memorable time. Groups or pairs are given their only private booth area with a touch screen computer so they can select which darts games they'd like to play. Players can also order food and drinks from Flight Club's extensive food and drinks menu off the screen which is delivered straight to their seat from a waiter. Social darts can be booked here for either 60 or 90 minute time slots with prices starting from £22 for two people. For those who are looking for a memorable and unique day out this Father's Day - this may just be the place.
