Dad never came back from Spain holiday after his true identity was exposed
A Brit dad who jetted off to holiday in Spain failed to get on his flight home in a bid to dodge police following an investigation into a drug ring.
Shaun Walker, 42, from Garston, Liverpool, was a "well established" drug dealer when he made the decision to hide out overseas. The dad, who went by the name "Rock Killer" on encrypted communications platform EncroChat, had a "significant geographical reach", according to prosecutors.
The crook was distributing wholesale quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis across the country, with his lucrative network - which brought in thousands of pounds. He had become so good at his trade, that he had moaned that making £350,000 in just five months wasn't enough.
However, the French police busted his network which led to him fleeing abroad to get away from authorities. Years later he was arrested and confessed: "I was selling gear then and I'm selling gear now."
On Thursday, Liverpool Crown Court heard that he operated under the handle "RockKiller" before the service was infiltrated by law enforcement agencies during 2020. The 42-year-old's messages thereafter showed that he had "run an operation engaged in the distribution of wholesale amounts of class A and B drugs", including 26kg of heroin and cocaine.
Stella Hayden, prosecuting, said the defendant also employed drivers to transport his wares and cash, doing so in vehicles with hidden compartments and using passwords during handovers in order to avoid detection by the police, reports Liverpool Echo. In one exchange with the handle "Weird Gun" on April 3, he detailed how he had a "bit of an emergency" after visiting "one of his stashes" only to discover that the man who had been storing drugs on his behalf had been recalled to prison on licence after the "plod burst in" to his house.
Walker went on to tell "Zone Pizza" later the same day: "Honest mate, rat moved my jobs and got nicked for recall. I don't know where they are. I had seven kilos in Garston, but I don't know where the f*** they are."
During another conversation on April 7, he disclosed that he had calculated his takings since November 2019 as £359,500 but added: "That took us five months to get in. We had it doing that every six weeks."
After Walker was identified as being the Rock Killer account holder, Merseyside Police discovered that his family had returned from a holiday in Europe on June 5 2021 but that he had failed to board the flight home alongside them. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued in November 2022, at which time he was believed to be residing in Spain.
He was only belated arrested on March 28 this year when officers raided an address in Plymouth. Walker attempted to escape from their clutches via a downstairs window at this time, but was quickly detained by waiting PCs outside. After being held, he admitted to having "four ounces of gear and four ounces of bash" and remarked: "I was selling gear then and I'm selling gear now. I'll be going guilty as soon as I can."
A total of 112g of heroin, worth an estimated £3,200, was subsequently seized from inside the property, as was 112g of an adulterant substance. Cash amounting to £2,380 was also found inside a backpack. Under interview, Walker "explained that he would buy heroin from Liverpool and transport it to Plymouth to sell" and said that he was owed £40,000 by others worked in the trade. His criminal record shows a total of 16 previous convictions for 28 offences, but none for drug supply offences.
Jonathan Duffy, defending, told the court: "He accepts full and complete responsibility for his actions and knows that he has put himself in a difficult position. He is deeply remorseful for his actions. He knows that he did wrong. It is right that he lived abroad for some time. During that time, much about his life has changed. His partner, who is in court, gave birth. They have got two children now.
"When he came back, the defendant accepts, regrettably, that, through people he was involved with in the south west, he did get involved but, in my submission, on a far lower scale. It is, essentially, a street dealing operation."
Walker pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis, possession of heroin with intent to supply and conspiracy to convert criminal property. Appearing via video link to HMP Exeter, he was jailed for 12 years. Sentencing, Recorder Carwyn Cox said: "You had been involved in a significant operation of distributing wholesale amounts of class A and B drugs.
"Your business was well established. You were trading across the country to places such as Ipswich and Plymouth. The indication is that you were arranging the purchases and supply of significant quantities of cocaine and heroin. In addition, you deployed others to carry out work on your behalf.
"Clearly, this was a lucrative business which you were operating at that time. While attempts were made to try to find you, you remained out of the country. You did return into the country by some method in the intervening period and found yourself in Plymouth. You attempted to escape briefly.
"You do have convictions for previous offences. However, I am satisfied that you do not have any previous offences on your record for anything of this nature. I am satisfied that this is a case where the defendant is remorseful."

Body found in search for woman who disappeared after leaving London home
A body has been found by police searching for a Colombian woman who vanished after leaving her east London home. Yajaira Castro Mendez, 46, was reported missing on May 31 having left her home in Ilford on the morning of May 29. Her family has been told about the discovery of the body, which was found during searches in Hampshire's Bolderwood area on Saturday, but formal identification has yet to be made. Detective Inspector Jay Gregory said: 'This is a very sad development in the investigation and our thoughts are very much with Yajaira's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. 'We continue to appeal to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to please come forward.' A post-mortem examination has yet to take place. The Met said a man who was known to Ms Castro Mendez appeared in court on Friday charged with her murder and was remanded into custody. Her disappearance was initially treated as a missing person investigation led by local officers. The investigation was then transferred to the Met's Specialist Crime Command on June 5, after a range of extensive further inquiries suggested she had come to harm. Police were at a scene in Gray's Inn Road, Camden, on Friday as part of their investigation. The Brit had also been drinking for six hours before the crash, reports The Sydney Morning Herald. A neighbour in Redditch revealed that her parents had flown to Australia on Tuesday to be with their daughter, according to The Times. Prosecutors said Kemp had a blood alcohol content of 0.158 when she 'careered into his back' at up to 25km/h as the dad stood at a crossing on Saturday night. The court heard walkers had to 'take evasive action' to avoid Kemp's 'inexplicably dangerous' riding, which was captured on CCTV. Her 26-year-old passenger also suffered a fractured skull and broken nose. Kemp, who was in Australia on a four-month tourist visa with her partner, had been working at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in Perth. She had been drinking with a friend from 2.30pm - who was kicked out of a bar for being too drunk - before they hired the e-scooter just before 8.30pm. Her bail bid was rejected after a magistrate ruled she posed too great a flight risk. 'It's a very difficult decision for the court to make,' the magistrate said. Brit tourist, 18, reported missing for days in Thailand is arrested on 'drug offences' in Georgia 4,000 miles away 'The temptation might be that [she] won't return… I can't manage that risk.' Phan's devastated family described him as a 'beloved husband, father of two, brother, and dear friend', and are now calling for a crackdown on e-scooter safety laws. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk,' they said in a statement. In a statement released through police, Phan's grieving family pleaded for privacy and called on authorities to tighten e-scooter hire regulations. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk,' they said. Kemp remains in custody on remand and is due back in court on July 15. Police prosecutors argued that Kemp's status as a foreign tourist working in Perth made her a flight risk, and highlighted the severity of her charges. Western Australian police have confirmed they will continue to investigate whether any additional offences, including possible public nuisance charges, could be laid against Kemp. 5 The Brit had also been drinking for six hours before the crash, reports The Sydney Morning Herald Credit: TikTok / aliciashona

Albufeira horror with chilling similarity in cause of death between two Brits
A second British tourist has been found dead in the Portuguese party town of Albufeira - it comes after police found the body of Glasgow man Greg Monks earlier this week A 'naked' British tourist has been found dead in a Portuguese resort in eerily similar circumstances to the another Brit found dead this week. The man is believed to have died following a drunken fall down steps in the Old Town of Albufeira in the Algarve and it comes after the body of Greg Monks, 38, was found after he disappeared in Albufeira last month, reportedly during a stag party. The latest alarm was raised just before 7am on Wednesday, with news of the incident only emerging today. Respected Portuguese daily Correo da Manha is reporting the tourist was 'completely naked' when he was found at the bottom of the steps in an avenue called Avenida da Libertade. Portuguese law means the autopsy results have not been made public, but an autopsy has taken place and police are understood to have ruled out any link to a crime. Authorities are said to be treating the death as a tragedy linked to excessive alcohol consumption. The young tourist was in his twenties and had been heading to where he was staying in Albufeira. No explanation has been given as to why he might have been naked, although police have not yet confirmed he had no clothes on. Police said the Monks' disappearance, meanwhile, was reported to the Guarda Nacional Republicana on May 28 at around 8pm by a man who was on holiday with him. Greg, from Glasgow, had gone out drinking at bars in the raucous Albufeira strip after flying to the resort hours earlier with friends for a stag do. Greg's sister had urged residents in the area to check home cameras and doorbell footage between 2am and 5am on Wednesday, May 28 after it emerged the last sighting of him had been in the hill area dotted with large villas. A Portuguese police source revealed the CCTV supplied by the local homeowner had proved vital in the case. The Policia Judiciaria said the body, found on Wednesday, was located in the Cerro de Aguia area. The police insider said today: 'The GNR police force had requested help from the Polícia Judiciaria force which confirmed yesterday the missing man's body had been found. They then got given CCTV from one of the villas in the Cerro da Aguia areas which enabled them to trace him jumping over a wall of a neighbouring property. 'With that information the searches were immediately moved to the scrubland below the houses. Sniffer dogs that were being used by the GNR were brought in again. When the dogs were put to work in the area, around 11am, they went straight to a bush where the missing man's body was laying.' He is thought to have jumped over a wall and fallen down a steep cliff after becoming disorientated as he tried to head back to his holiday hotel.
