Kyle Dubas
slammed 34-year-old Penguins ice hockey defenseman
Erik Karlsson
on April 21. Kyle
Dubas
said, 'Erik(Karlsson) will forever be a polarizing figure. We expect him to be one of the people, that pulls us from where we are at and into contention. I had a long meeting with
Erik
on Friday. My push to him would be that his actions have to match his ambitions. That's consistency, preparation, and training like every other player on the team.'
An X user commented, 'More to the point: 'His actions have to match my ambitions to get as many draft picks for him as possible.' Another fan wrote, 'EK is 36... You think he's listening to this bs? Delusional' A third fan wrote, 'Same could be said about Dubas.'

It's only been two years for Erik Karlsson with the Pittsburgh Penguins, so why is all the blame for the team's failures directed at him
An X user wrote, 'No one to blame but Dubas himself for wanting EK that badly. Especially when EK was on the decline. This 100% falls on Dubas.' In the two years that Erik Karlsson was with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he played a total of 164 games, in which he accumulated 22 goals, 87 assists, and 109 points. Is that bad?
We mean, the Pittsburgh Penguins have consistently been off the Stanley Cup Playoffs since the 2022-2023
NHL
season, a year before Erik Karlsson entered the Penguins from the
San Jose Sharks
. Why is he only blamed? What about other veterans playing in the Pittsburgh Penguins for decades? Aren't they too at fault?
Kyle Dubas expects Erik Karlsson to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins as he did for Sweden in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off
Kyle Dubas talks about how well Erik Karlsson performed at the 2025
4 Nations Face-Off
and expects the same dedication towards his team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The GM of Penguins said, 'He showed throughout the year that he has another level to him, at times playing for us, certainly playing for Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off. He was a player, that you'd watch and say, 'This guy can help any team not only content but probably win.'
Kyle Dubas continued, 'But it's emblematic of the rest of the group as well. There was moments of great play with too many inconsistencies, and we have to push them to get there. That's the expectation that's dictated by his talent level and the impact he can make. And it's a joint venture. So, yes, part of it is on the team, part of it is on Erik. We have to find our way through.'

Sachin Tendulkar Never Used ‘God', Virat Kohli Didn't Write ‘King': Fans Troll Shubman Gill For ‘Prince' Bat Sticker
Shubman Gill is all set to lead India in the upcoming Test series against England starting June 2025, but his captaincy debut is already making headlines—not for cricket, but for his bat sticker. Fans spotted the word 'Prince' written below the MRF Genius logo on his bat and began trolling the young star on social media. Carrying A Legendary Legacy Gill is the latest batter to sign a bat sponsorship deal with MRF, a brand that has been associated with cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, AB de Villiers, and Virat Kohli. These icons proudly carried the Genius sticker on their bats but never added any personal nickname. So when Gill's bat was seen carrying the word "Prince" along with "MRF Genius", many fans felt it was too bold, especially before proving himself fully in Test cricket. Why 'Prince' Is Causing A Stir The Overhyped "Prince" of Indian Cricket Shubman Gill is so self-obsessed. Who even called you the Prince? A so-called 'Prince of ICT with a poor SENA record, a below 35 Test average, and zero overseas centuries across all formats after 5 years in his international career. — Niik (@Niiki099) June 11, 2025 The nickname 'Prince' was originally linked to Brian Lara, one of the greatest batters of all time. Over time, fans also started calling Gill 'Prince' as a sign of admiration and expectations. However, critics say that adding it to his bat sticker was a step too far. Fans pointed out that Tendulkar never used 'God' and Kohli never had 'King' written on their bats despite being globally known by those titles. Sachin Tendulkar never played with a bat that had "God" written over it and Virat Kohli never played with a bat that had "King" written over it. You get tags with your performances and the tags are given by the greats of the game and not from the social media. (@CricCrazyV) June 11, 2025 Not a New Addition, But Now Under Spotlight Interestingly, the word 'Prince' first appeared on Gill's bat during the IPL 2025 season, but it went largely unnoticed. It came into the spotlight recently after the BCCI released official team photos ahead of the England series. Fans zoomed in and spotted the sticker, triggering online discussions and mixed reactions. Despite the online trolling, Gill seems focused on the job. In his first address as captain, he encouraged his teammates to take every practice session seriously. "Let us play every ball with purpose... It's not about surviving but about discovering our game under pressure," Gill said. His calm and determined words suggest that he's aiming to make a strong start to his captaincy era. MRF, in its statement earlier this year, praised Gill as the right man to carry forward the legacy of batting excellence. "With legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Brian Lara having graced the iconic MRF bat, Shubman Gill now carries forward this tradition," the brand said. Upcoming England Series Big Test For Shubhman Gill The upcoming five-match Test series against England will be played from June to August 2025 at Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord's, The Oval (London), and Old Trafford (Manchester). It will be a huge opportunity for Gill to prove his leadership skills and silence the critics.

Karun Nair "Excited To Grab The Opportunity With Both Hands" In England Tests
India batter Karun Nair, who is making his comeback to the red-ball team after a hiatus of almost eight years, is excited to make the most of the opportunity in the upcoming five-match Test series against England starting on June 20. Nair has been in phenomenal form and struck a double ton against the England Lions in the first unofficial Test at Canterbury. In the recently concluded IPL 2025 season, he played eight matches for Delhi Capitals and amassed 198 runs, including a half-century. The 33-year-old made his Test debut against England in Mohali in 2016 and he went on to hit an unbeaten 303 in his third Test in Chennai and grabbed eyeballs. However, after that historic knock, he only played three home Tests against Australia in 2017 before being dropped from the team due to a series of low scores. The right-handed batter never lost hope of making a comeback into the Indian team. After switching his base from Karnataka to Vidarbha in 2023, he scored 690 runs in 10 games and followed it with 863 runs in nine Ranji Trophy games in 2024 with four centuries, including one in the finals, which carved the way for Vidarbha to lift the trophy. Nair also showed signs of power-hitting in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, amassing 779 runs in just eight innings, including five centuries, which prompted the Delhi Capitals to pick him in the 2024 IPL mega auction for Rs 50 lakh. "Feels really special, very grateful and very fortunate to be able to get this opportunity again and really looking forward and excited to grab this opportunity with both hands," Nair said in a video posted by BCCI on social media. "Not sure actually, I've to experience that feeling myself and just go out there and feel it for myself. I'm sure there will be a lot of feelings, ones that I can't express right now and it will be a special feeling," he added. In the pre-training huddle, head coach Gautam Gambhir praised Nair's comeback to the Test side after eight years and said, "Comebacks are never easy. Someone who has made a comeback after seven [eight] years had a phenomenal last year. Last year, no matter the runs you have got and most importantly, that never-die attitude, never-giving-up attitude, that is something which has got you back into the team. That is something which is inspiring for this entire world. Welcome, Karun." With the Test retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, it is likely that Nair will get a chance in the middle order because of his County experience with Northamptonshire, where he scored 487 runs in seven games at an average of 48.70, including a double century. Nair's former Karnataka teammate and experienced batter KL Rahul was elated with the return of him to the Indian setup. "I've known him for a very long time and the months that he spent here in the UK playing cricket and how hard and how lonely it was. For him, to be able to do all of that and comeback to the Indian team is special for him, his family and friends like us who've seen his journey. So, like I said, very inspiring as well, and hopefully, his experience and learnings from playing county cricket here will hold him in good stead when he plays the Test matches here," Rahul said in a video. India's all-important Test series against England runs from June 20 to August 4, with Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord's, Old Trafford and The Oval being the venues. India are aiming to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007.
