Yuki Tsunoda has spoken out on the online hate he has received since an on-track incident with Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto, claiming that it "crossed a line."
The Japanese driver came under the fire of the passionate Argentinian Formula 1 fans after he expressed his frustrations with Colapinto when he blocked him during the first practice session on Friday. A moment which would usually be forgotten almost immediately has become one of the main talking points of the weekend due to the excessive online hate the Red Bull driver received afterwards.
While speaking to the media, Tsunoda defended his position as well as claiming that F1 should step in if the hate continues. He explained:
"It's normal that if you have traffic, and I caught it multiple times, you get frustrated. I think I have the right to say something. I didn't say the wrong thing, or a very bad thing. I just said [expressed] my frustration, and that's it.

Colapinto has also spoken out on the situation, urging his fans to have respect for other drivers. He commented:
"I know they are extremely passionate, and they are always very harsh on people. They have to give respect, and that's what we all want.
"There is a lot of hate on social media ... so of course we always try and want, for all the drivers, to keep it respectful and keep it calm there."
Both Colapinto and Tsunoda suffered scary, separate, crashes during Qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Thankfully, both drivers were able to walk away from the crashes are were later cleared by the on-site medical center. In the race, Tsunoda crossed the line in tenth after starting from the pit lane, whereas, Colapinto finished in 16th.
The race at Imola was Colapinto's first race with Alpine after taking Jack Doohan's seat after the Miami Grand Prix.

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sends power to the rear wheels, and carbon ceramic brakes handle stopping duties; six-piston calipers in the front, four-piston in the rear. Getting from a standstill to 62 mph takes under 2.8 seconds, and stopping from the same takes just 98 feet. As an optional extra, McLaren will include a plaque commemorating the brand's Triple Crown wins: 24 Hours of Le Mans, Indianapolis 500, and Monaco Grand Prix. McLaren is one of only three automakers with any claim of Triple Crown success. The other two are Ford and Mercedes, but only McLaren has won all three races as a team/chassis manufacturer. McLaren also says the 750S Le Mans commemorates the running of its GT3 EVO cars this year and the manufacturer's anticipated return to the LMH (Hypercar) class in 2027. I'm not buying one, and you probably aren't either, but it's hard to complain about a special edition that honors such a cool point in history for McLaren. The development cycle, engine work (handled by BMW), and end result of the McLaren F1 make it one of the most historically interesting vehicles ever. Calgary's Wild FC downs Halifax Tides 3-2 in Northern Super League
CALGARY - Calgary's Wild FC held off the Halifax Tides 3-2 on Thursday in the Northern Super League. Wild (3-2-2) scored three first-half goals before the winless Tides (0-5-1) countered with two late in the second. Calgary extended its undefeated run to four straight games with two wins and two draws in that span. Wild FC defeated the Tides 4-1 in Halifax on April 26 for Calgary's first NSL victory, and a week after the six-team NSL launched with the Vancouver Rise blanking Calgary 1-0. The Wild's Taegan Stewart scored her first career NSL goal when the 17-year-old Calgarian drilled a right-foot shot from the centre box home in first-half extra time. Max Verstappen facing ban from F1 race that could reunite Ricciardo and Piastri
With Max Verstappen just one penalty point away from being forced to serve a ban, Daniel Ricciardo has been floated as a shock potential replacement for Red Bull. Verstappen copped three penalty points for deliberately colliding with George Russell in the Spanish Grand Prix, which also saw him hit with a 10-second penalty and relegated from fifth to 10th. The Dutch driver now has 11 penalty points over a rolling 12-month period, and if he reaches 12 he'll cop an automatic race ban. Crucially, the two penalty points he received at the Austrian Grand Prix last year will expire at the end of June, which will drop his tally down to nine ahead of the British GP in July. If he can avoid any penalties at the Canadian and Austrian Grands Prix this month, he'll manage to dodge a ban. But with the defending world champion just one point from missing a race, Red Bull bosses will be weighing up who gets a drive if Verstappen is rubbed out. Isack Hadjar has impressed for Red Bull's junior team 'Racing Bulls' this season, and would seemingly be the first cab off the rank to replace Verstappen. New Zealander Liam Lawson is also in the team stable with Racing Bulls, but had a disastrous two-race stint with Red Bull at the start of the season. Ayumu Iwasa and Arvid Lindblad are both in the Red Bull young drivers' pool, but Christian Horner and the team hierarchy might be keen for someone with a bit more experience. Rather than thrust a youngster into such an important seat, Red Bull could turn to a former driver with plenty of knowledge and experience. And that's where the likes of Ricciardo and Sergio Perez come in. Ricciardo and Perez are both former Red Bull drivers who still know what they're doing in a Formula One car. The Aussie raced for AlphaTauri/RB last year before he was sacked, but has a good relationship with Red Bull team principal Horner. As F1 correspondent Mark Mann-Bryans wrote this week: "The Australian is a favourite of Horner, who brought him back into the fold towards the end of 2023 with the then-AlphaTauri marque before taking the tough decision to drop him in favour of Lawson part-way through 2024. Bringing Riccardo back, even for a one-off race, would be a decision welcomed by plenty of fans, but the 35-year-old has distanced himself from motorsport since losing his Racing Bulls seat last year and would probably require some tempting back."
