If I Had to Pick Just 1 Dividend Stock, This Is It

It's easy to focus on stocks' price movements because it's the most straightforward way to measure performance. However, a lot of money can be made from stocks beyond just price appreciation. The key is dividends. Dividends are a way for companies to reward shareholders for simply owning a stock and can compensate for slow (or no) stock price growth. Ideally, you'll get both stock price growth and dividends, creating a lucrative two-for-one. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » There are thousands of dividend stocks on the market, but they're not all created equal. There are dozens that I think highly of, but if I had to choose only one to invest in, it would be Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO). You'll never have to doubt Coca-Cola's dividend When it comes to dividend security, you'd have a hard time finding a more reliable stock than Coca-Cola. It has paid out a dividend since 1920, but more importantly, it has increased its annual dividend for 63 consecutive years. Only eight companies on the stock market have a longer streak. Coca-Cola's current quarterly dividend is $0.51, with a yield of around 2.7% (as of June 10). It's not an ultra-high yield that other S&P 500 stocks may have, but it's still more than double the current S&P 500 average. KO Dividend Yield data by YCharts Coca-Cola's dividend yield is lower than usual because its stock price has had an impressive start to 2025, up over 17%. This hasn't been the recent norm for Coca-Cola's stock, but it's a nice addition to its dividend. A business built to withstand any economic conditions Coca-Cola is as close to a recession-proof business as you'll find on the market, and it comes down to two things: products that sell no matter what and pricing power. Coca-Cola products are considered consumer staples, meaning they're everyday items that people purchase regardless of economic conditions. When money is tight, consumers typically delay upgrading electronics, put off vacations, or cook at home instead of dining out at restaurants. What they don't typically remove from the budget are Coca-Cola products. This doesn't mean Coca-Cola doesn't face headwinds or slowdowns; it absolutely does. However, it does mean its core business remains relatively stable through economic downturns. And when volume slows down, Coca-Cola has the pricing power to increase prices without losing customers. As an example, look at Coca-Cola's first quarter of this year. Although global unit case volume only grew 2% year over year, Coca-Cola's organic revenue (which doesn't take into account foreign currency impacts) grew 6%. The ability to adjust prices to compensate for volume is a testament to Coca-Cola's strong brand loyalty. "Just raise prices" isn't the best long-term strategy, but it's one to lean on when consumer spending slows. Coca-Cola never seems to gets complacent Despite the massive success of Coca-Cola's core products like its flagship Coca-Cola soda, Diet Coke, and Sprite, Coca-Cola has never seemed to get complacent. Will those brands be Coca-Cola's bread and butter for quite some time? Most likely. However, it's nice to have a suite of successful brands that can complement those. After owning around 400 brands, Coca-Cola realized there's power in a large portfolio, but only if you can still operate efficiently. With a large portion of its sales coming from a small portion of its portfolio, Coca-Cola cut its portfolio by roughly half in 2020. By trimming its portfolio, Coca-Cola has been able to simplify supply chain management and distribution, which is crucial for a company with hundreds of bottling partners and distribution in over 200 countries. The slimmed-down operations are also why its revenue can be significantly less than competitors like PepsiCo (which sells drinks and food products), yet its net income can be much higher. KO Revenue (Quarterly) data by YCharts This doesn't mean Coca-Cola shies away from acquiring brands; they're just more selective and focused on adapting to changing consumer preferences (low-calorie, plant-based, alcohol ready-to-drink, etc.). If you're investing in a stock for the long haul, make sure the company has the ability and willingness to adapt and not get complacent. Should you invest $1,000 in Coca-Cola right now? 1 Growth Stock That Could 5x Your Money in 10 Years

In most regards, retail investors are at a big disadvantage to professional investors working at hedge funds. They typically aren't as well-trained; they likely don't have as much time to conduct research or nearly the same amount of resources at their disposal. One major advantage, however, is that time is on their side. While hedge funds typically invest over a 12-to-18-month time horizon, retail investors can buy stocks they want to hold for five, 10, or even 20 years. This allows retail investors to buy stocks early and patiently wait for the catalysts to play out and for businesses to develop. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Learn More » Here's one stock to buy that can 5x your money in 10 years. Investors seeing the light in this AI company When companies have serious ties to artificial intelligence (AI), their stocks are usually gobbled up before most retail investors take notice, resulting in stretched valuations that are often unappealing. But unlike most AI names, investors have had the chance all year to buy Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) at very attractive or at least reasonable valuations. While investors have started to catch on and the stock is now up 70% this year, Nebius, at a $11.4 billion market cap, still presents a compelling long-term opportunity. Nebius builds data centers specifically aimed at helping customers launch AI solutions. The company's data centers purchase graphics processing units (GPUs) from major chip players like Nvidia, and then allow companies to essentially rent their infrastructure to build and run AI languages and applications on. For companies that would prefer to not have to set up their own AI infrastructure or need additional capacity, the arrangement is quite appealing. While this is Nebius' main business, the company also has some other smaller, developing businesses, like its generative AI development business, Toloka, and an autonomous driving technology business. The stock traded extremely cheaply when it rejoined the Nasdaq toward the end of last year, because it hadn't traded on the Nasdaq for close to three years. Nebius used to be owned by Russian internet giant Yandex. When Russia invaded Ukraine, U.S. sanctions on Russia led to the delisting of many Russian stocks. Since that time, however, Nebius split off from Yandex in a $5.4 billion deal that would see the company move its headquarters to Amsterdam. In December, Nebius announced that it had raised an oversubscribed private round of financing led by Nvidia and other major venture capital companies, which seemed to give the company more credibility and the market more confidence in the name. Nebius also has a partnership with Nvidia. Growing fast This month, Nebius unveiled a flurry of positive news events. The company raised $1 billion in additional capital through convertible notes to accelerate growth and recently announced expansion in the United Kingdom, as well as the general availability of Nvidia's next-generation Blackwell chips in Europe. In the first quarter of the year, Nebius reported over $55 million of revenue, up 385% year over year, although the company's net loss grew 41% to close to $114 million. The company invested significantly in the quarter, and operating costs nearly doubled on a year-over-year basis, as capital expenditures (capex) and increased spending on data center hardware led to a more than fourfold increase in depreciation and amortization. However, Nebius is growing fast and has expanded its data center network, adding four new locations in Europe, the U.S., and the Middle East over the last three quarters, not including its planned GPU cluster in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, management said they remain on track to exit the year with $750 million to $1 billion of annual run-rate revenue. Management also said they expect to become positive on an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) basis in the second half of this year. In the medium term, management projects to reach mid-single-digit billions of dollars in revenue, with adjusted EBIT margins in the 20%-30% range, assuming a four-year depreciation schedule. Obviously, the company still needs to execute, and the AI trade and AI capex could see some ebbs and flows and may not work in a straight line. But overall, Nebius is growing fast and meaningfully growing revenue, and its use case is resonating strongly in one of the most promising sectors of the market. Should you invest $1,000 in Nebius Group right now? Before you buy stock in Nebius Group, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Nebius Group wasn't one of them. Tech Stocks That Could Double by 2030: 2 Easy Choices

Pinpointing stocks that can double in under five years is a key skill for investors, allowing them to beat the market with a safety margin. The market tends to double once every seven years, so if it can double in five, there is some wiggle room to allow for outperformance. However, few stocks have this potential, as growth and valuation must be considered when assessing the company. Furthermore, projecting where a business will be five years out is nearly impossible. Take Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) for example. If you knew exactly where Nvidia would be five years in the future, you would have taken out a loan for the biggest amount possible and bought every share of Nvidia you could, as it turned every $10,000 invested into more than $160,000 over the past five years. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » So, what stocks have the potential to double over the next five years? I've got two solid picks. Nvidia Although Nvidia had a monster run-up over the past five years, I think the next five years are just as bright. While Nvidia's jaw-dropping 200% or greater growth is likely over, it still posts incredible results each quarter. Nvidia's strength can be directly tied to the AI arms race, which involves using Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs) to train and run AI models. Most estimates state Nvidia has a data center market share of over 90%, which showcases its dominance. Furthermore, data center buildouts aren't slowing down and are expected to increase over the next few years. This bodes well for Nvidia's future, although it's also doing incredibly well right now. In the company's first quarter of fiscal 2026 (ending April 28), Nvidia's revenue increased 69% year over year to $44 billion. That growth would have been even greater if the U.S. government hadn't imposed export restrictions on Nvidia's H20 chips, but that's water under the bridge. Looking forward, Nvidia still expects 50% growth for Q2, which is impressive considering how rapidly Nvidia has grown over the past few years. Nvidia is still growing and is likely to post revenue growth above the threshold necessary to double within five years (a 15% growth rate is necessary to double in five years). As a result, I think it's an easy pick for a stock that can double in five years. Taiwan Semiconductor Taiwan Semiconductor (NYSE: TSM) is also an easy pick for a company that can double within the next five years. Nearly every major tech company that uses cutting-edge chips in its devices (like Nvidia) gets its chips from TSMC. As a result, Taiwan Semiconductor is very clear about what chip demand holds over the next few years. Management issued guidance at the beginning of 2025 that AI-related revenue would grow at a 45% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years, which helps power overall revenue growth to a near-20% CAGR over that same time frame. That puts TSMC well above the threshold of a 15% CAGR needed to achieve a doubling within five years. As an added bonus, Taiwan Semiconductor isn't all that expensive, trading for 22.9 times forward earnings. NVDA PE Ratio (Forward) data by YCharts That's much cheaper than Nvidia, which has a premium valuation due to its high growth levels. It's also around the same price as the S&P 500, which trades at 22.5 times forward earnings. Taiwan Semiconductor and Nvidia are no-brainer picks for stocks that can double within five years. With how heavily AI-related tailwinds are blowing in these two companies' favor, I'd be shocked if they didn't double, which is why they are two of the largest holdings in my personal portfolio. Should you invest $1,000 in Nvidia right now?
