CHELMSFORD, Mass. — Ferroport, which operates the iron ore terminal at the Port of Açu in São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has deployed state-of-the-art video surveillance cameras from Axis Communications to enhance nighttime security and visibility, while decreasing environmental impact and prioritizing sustainability. With cutting-edge technology, the port now has precise surveillance cameras that capture high-quality nighttime images, while reducing the amount of artificial lighting that negatively impacts the surrounding ecosystem.

The partnership with Axis Communications has allowed Ferroport to meet Brazilian port standards with ease, while also supporting its robust sustainability strategy. The ISPS Code (Resolution 53 Conportos) and Ordinance 143 of the Federal Revenue Service mandates that Brazilian port terminals must remain under 24/7 video surveillance, leading the port to search for a solution that would comply with these stringent standards while also enhancing wildlife conservation efforts in the area. Ferroport's commitment to environmental stewardship has resulted in the planting of 66,000 trees in the surrounding area over six months and protecting more than 1.3 million loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings since 2008.

One leader will be noticeably absent at Canada's G7 leaders summit
It's almost time to start the party. The invitations have been sent. But someone will be noticeably absent when G7 leaders gather next week in Alberta. Despite talk of a reset in relations and a recent friendly telephone call between foreign ministers, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi won't be among those welcomed to the G7 leaders meeting in Kananaskis next week. Given that it's the first time since 2018—the last time Canada hosted the annual international summit—that India has been left off the guestlist, it's being interpreted rightly or wrongly as a deliberate snub. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW A spokesperson for Global Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Prime Minister Mark Carney's office was responsible for the invites to a G7 leaders' summit. Carney's press office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In addition to the leaders of the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, this year's G7 host, Carney, has invited Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum; Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva; South African President Cyril Ramaphosa (whose country holds this year's G20 presidency); and his newly re-elected Australian counterpart, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. But not the person steering one of the world's largest economies, despite Carney describing the Canada-India relationship as 'incredibly important' and one that he hoped to rebuild as he seeks to expand Canadian trade partners. 'There are strains on that relationship that we didn't cause,' he said in the final days of the recent election. 'But there is a path forward to address those with mutual respect and to build out.' Leaving Modi's name off Canada's G7 guest list shouldn't be seen as contradicting Carney's earlier statements about rebuilding the bilateral bonds. Canada desperately needs better friendships and deeper, richer trading relationships to blunt the impact of American trade tariffs. Rather, it is a reminder of the reality that there is no quick fix for the deeply damaged relationship between Ottawa and New Delhi. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW The Ottawa-New Delhi relationship has been strained for years due to complaints that former prime minister Justin Trudeau's Liberals were too easy on the Sikh separatist movement in Canada and refused to act against individuals wanted in India as terrorists and outlaws. That feud went public following Trudeau's 2018 visit to India, but the relationship tanked after Trudeau alleged in the House of Commons that Indian government officials had a hand in the 2023 killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. An immigrant to Canada, Nijjar helped organized a referendum to create a separate Sikh homeland in India's Punjab province and was suspected of leading the Khalistan Tiger Force, a designated terrorist group in India. He was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Sikh temple in Surrey, B.C. on June 18, 2023. Four men, all Indian nationals who came to Canada on temporary visas, were arrested in May 2024 in connection of the killing. Their cases have not yet been heard in court. Last October, Canada expelled six Indian diplomats and consular officials it said were linked to 'a targeted campaign against Canadian citizens.' ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW The Toronto-based Sikh Federation of Canada last month urged Ottawa to keep India off the G7 guestlist 'until India substantially cooperates with criminal investigations in Canada, and makes other demonstrable reforms.' Indian news reports cited the risk of protests by Sikh activists as a reason that Modi would likely not come to Canada even if he received a last-minute invite. The Times of India noted that a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit would have been an opportunity to officially reset the Canada-India relationship. For Modi, the annual G7 invitations provide a valuable opportunity to strut on the world stage. His absence from Kananaskis, his opposition critics say, is an indicator his inability to exert Indian influence and its priorities. 'Whatever spin is given to it, the fact is that this is yet another major diplomatic blunder,' Jairam Ramesh, the Indian National Congress' general secretary for communications, wrote on X. Last weekend, former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper called for the two countries to get over their dispute in a speech that made no mention of the alleged politically motivated killing on Canadian soil. Global Affairs Minister Anita Anand recently spoke by telephone with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, where, in the briefest of summaries, Jaishankar said they 'discussed the prospects of Canada-India ties.' Anand described the call as a 'productive discussion … on strengthening Canada–India ties, deepening our economic cooperation, and advancing shared priorities.' Asked in a Globe and Mail interview if this was the prelude to the two countries reinstating their respective high commissioners and restoring full diplomatic ties, Anand said: 'We are certainly taking it one step at a time.'

LONDON (AP) — Arsenal is in talks with Thomas Partey to extend the midfielder's contract, the club said Wednesday, while confirming the departure of a slew of other players including Jorginho and Raheem Sterling. Partey's contract is due to expire on June 30 and Arsenal said 'discussions are on going.' The Ghana international has been with Arsenal since 2020.
