Moment Chelsea FC star Marc Cucurella is caught 'using his phone behind the wheel' of his £140k Mercedes G-Wagon

This is the moment Chelsea's Marc Cucurella was apparently caught using his mobile phone while behind the wheel of his £140,000 Mercedes G-Wagon. The 26-year-old Spaniard was said to have been driving the wagon near Dorking in Surrey, when he was caught appearing to be sending a text message. The footage was taken by a British couple as they drove past the left-back at around 6pm on Tuesday, May 20. Eight days later Cucurella was in Chelsea's starting line-up in Wroclaw, Poland, as Enzo Maresca 's men beat Real Betis 4-1 in the Uefa Conference League final. The couple claimed they had noticed the car before realising the driver appeared to be using his phone on closer inspection. One said: 'We looked over to see who it was and I clocked that it was Chelsea's left back Marc Cucurella. 'We drove past him again and I doubled checked to make sure it was him... he was on his phone. 'My partner in the passenger seat was able to get a video and photos.' Cucurella has been a near permanent starter for Chelsea this season in the Premier League, after being part of the squad that beat England in the final of the Euros with Spain in July 2024. The passenger added: 'It was really dangerous and very irresponsible of him, first to be doing it at all.' Drivers caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel in the United Kingdom face being hit with a £200 fine and six points on their driving licence. Cucurella moved to west London from Brighton in a £60million deal in 2022. The Spain international struggled for consistency on the pitch, and later revealed that a number of circumstances away from the game also contributed to his dip in form, including the burglary of his family home. However, as Cucurella settled at Stamford Bridge, the defender became an increasingly vital presence in the set-ups of head coaches Mauricio Pochettino and Maresca. Cucurella also starred for Spain at last summer's European Championship, helping La Roja take him the trophy for the fourth time in the nation's history. He features alongside his wife Claudia Rodriguez in the second season of Amazon's Married To The Game. Cucurella and Rodriguez allowed cameras to follow their daily lives, with the impact of their son Mateo's autism on the family one of the emotional flashpoints of the programme. The reality series also sees Rodriguez open up on the impact of a burglary which the family suffered shortly after the move to the west London club. Cucurella and his family lost £62,000-worth of property in the break-in, including Louis Vuitton bags.

Chelsea line up £30m bid for Bundesliga star - with Blues prepared to offer the Man City academy graduate a SEVEN-YEAR contract

Chelsea have made a £30million bid for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens and are prepared to offer the 20-year-old a seven year contract. Dortmund have been looking for around £40m for the former Manchester City youth prospect. Indeed, City hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause. The club are hoping to sign him before Tuesday's deadline to play in the Club World Cup. Gittens had a brief spell at Chelsea in his youth career, then Reading and City, before signing for Dortmund. In August 2022, just days after his 18th birthday, Gittens made his senior debut in the Bundesliga for the Black and Yellow. He has racked up 106 appearances since, scoring 17 goals. Although, his breakout campaign came this past season, over the course of which he scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 48 games. Elsewhere, Chelsea are interested in a number of defensive options, including Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi. As well as Guehi, Chelsea remain keen on Jorrel Hato of Ajax. The highly rated centre back made his senior debut at just 16 years old and became an undisputed starter for the Eredivisie side last season. Now 19, Hato has been appointed as one of Ajax's vice-captains, and was named Eredivisie Talent of the Year in 2024-25.

Arsenal set to seal shock £5m transfer for Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga with keeper set to fight David Raya for No1 spot

ARSENAL are on the verge signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, reports claim. And the Gunners will pay just a £5m release clause to their London rivals who once made Kepa the world's most expensive goalkeeper. 1 Arsenal had made Kepa their top target as they look to recruit a deputy to first-choice goalkeeper David Raya. But the 30-year-old Spanish stopper, who just enjoyed a solid season at Bournemouth, won't settle for a No 2 spot. According to the Athletic, Kepa is on the cusp of moving to the Emirates. Kepa has a £5m release clause in his Chelsea contract, which he signed before joining the Cherries on a season-long loan. That extension added a year onto his terms, which now run until June 2026, but also significantly reduced his salary. The Spaniard joined Chelsea for a £71.6m fee from Athletic Club in 2018 and has featured 163 times for the West London side, winning four major honours.
