Former Nuggets coach Michael Malone clarified he would have voted for Nikola Jokić as MVP
"Nikola [Jokic] won the first of his three MVPs and I did vote for him again this year if I had a vote. Want to make sure the people in Denver know that because right now, I'm getting a lot of heat back home."

Former Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone used some of his ESPN airtime on Thursday night to clarify his 2025 NBA MVP sentiment about his former player, Nikola Jokić.
During NBA playoff pregame coverage in Oklahoma City, Malone clarified, if he had a MVP vote, he would have voted for Jokić over eventual MVP winner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"Nikola [Jokić] won the first of his three MVPs, and I did vote for him again this year if I had a vote," Malone shared his comments. "Want to make sure the people in Denver know that because right now, I'm getting a lot of heat back home."
Malone seemed to get his words twisted a bit recently while speaking about Gilgeous-Alexander being the consensus MVP, but he's clearly covering his bases to make sure Denver fans now he's still riding with Jokić.
Maybe this will clear it all up?

Kyle Tucker Makes Baseball History Amid Cubs Injury Update
Kyle Tucker Makes Baseball History Amid Cubs Injury Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chicago Cubs star right fielder Kyle Tucker is currently sidelined with a jammed finger after an awkward slide into second base on Sunday, June 1. Advertisement Fortunately, this does not appear to be a long-term injury, as Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Tucker will probably only be sidelined for "another day or two" on June 3 (via Cubs beat writer Andy Martínez). Counsell also confirmed that there are no plans for an IL stint at this time. Chicago Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker launches a home run at Citi Field in Penner-Imagn Images As Tucker rests his finger, OptaSTATS revealed that he's also made baseball history through his first 57 games with the Cubbies. "Kyle Tucker is the only player in the live-ball era (since 1920) to record at least 60 hits, 40 walks, 25 extra-base hits and 15 steals in under 60 games with a single team," OptaSTATS noted on June 3. Advertisement Which puts Tucker in a class of his own. Playing for a new contract in 2025, Tucker has been absolutely locked in all year, and he's rewarded Chicago for trading for him over the offseason. With a .284 batting average, .394 on-base percentage, .524 slugging and .918 OPS, Tucker finds himself ranked within the top 15 of the entire MLB in three out of those four key categories (all but batting average). Making him one of the more well-rounded stars in all of baseball. This unique achievement reinforces that fact, as Tucker has already displayed plus contact, power, plate vision and speed in 2025. It also puts him in the MVP conversation, as the MLB's official X account revealed that Tucker is currently polling fifth-highest in the early National League MVP voting on June 3. Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong's Rare MLB Feat Places Him 4th on Elite List
Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong's Rare MLB Feat Places Him 4th on Elite List originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Cubs are rolling in 2025, as their June 3 victory over the Washington Nationals puts them in a tie for the best record in the National League with the New York Mets (who are currently still playing on June 3). Advertisement A big part of the Cubs' 38-22 record is breakout outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who is currently polling second-highest in the NL for MVP votes. Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong celebrates an extra-base hit at Wrigley Field in Banks-Imagn Images "Most Valuable Player" is a good way to describe Crow-Armstrong, because he can do a little bit of everything on the baseball diamond. For example, on June 3, the MLB's official X account shared a rare achievement that best displays the rising Cubs star's coveted blend of power and speed. "Pete Crow-Armstrong just stole his 20th base of the season," the MLB account noted on Tuesday evening. Relaying that "he is the 4th-fastest player to reach 15+ HR and 20+ SB in the modern era (since 1900)!" Advertisement Crow-Armstrong achieved this feat in 60 games, according to the MLB, and that puts him in elite company behind 3-time All-Star Bobby Bonds (59 games), early 1900s career-.319 hitter Ken Williams (54 games) and 2-time All-Star and record-holder Eric Davis — who registered 15 HRs and 20 steals in just 40 games. Heading in June 4, Crow-Armstrong is tied for first in stolen bases with Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert. He also ranks ninth in the MLB in home runs and third in RBIs with 51, behind Boston Red Sox slugger Rafael Devers and teammate Seiya Suzuki. If Crow-Armstrong can keep up his torrid pace in 2025, he has a legitimate shot at the MLB MVP award. Preview capsule for the NBA Finals matchup between Indiana and Oklahoma City
No. 4 Indiana Pacers (50-32, 12-4) vs. No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder (68-14, 12-4) Season series: Thunder, 2-0. Schedule: Game 1 at Oklahoma City on Thursday, Game 2 at Oklahoma City on Sunday, Game 3 at Indiana on June 11, Game 4 at Indiana on June 13, Game 5 at Oklahoma City on June 16 (if necessary), Game 6 at Indiana on June 19 (if necessary), Game 7 at Oklahoma City on June 22 (if necessary). How they got here: Oklahoma City overwhelmed Memphis in a first-round sweep, survived seven games against 2023 NBA champion Denver, then eliminated Minnesota in five games in the Western Conference finals. The Thunder finished off the series in a romp, leading by 39 points in a 124-94 victory, and are winning by about 11 points per game in the postseason. The Pacers aren't as dominant but find a way at the finish, taking out Milwaukee and top-seeded Cleveland in five games before knocking off New York in six in the East finals. Their four victories after trailing by 17 or more points are the most by a team in a single postseason. Storyline: The small markets get the big stage. For Oklahoma City, it's a second trip to the NBA Finals since moving from Seattle in 2008. The Thunder lost in their first try against Miami in 2012 but are heavy favorites in this one after compiling the NBA's best record behind MVP and scoring champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Pacers are making just their second NBA Finals appearance, having lost to the Lakers in 2000. Key matchup: Tyrese Haliburton vs. Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace and Gilgeous-Alexander. Nobody can throw as many good defensive guards at a team as the Thunder, as Anthony Edwards found out when Oklahoma City limited him to 12-for-31 shooting in the final two games of the West finals. Haliburton is having a memorable postseason, hitting three game-winning or game-tying shots and topping all players with 9.8 assists. But the Thunder limited him well in the two regular-season matchups, holding the All-NBA point guard to 11 points and 5.5 assists per game. X-factor: Indiana's defense. The Pacers are potent, with their 117.4 points per game in the postseason the second-highest ever by a team entering the NBA Finals. But even they can't count on offense alone against a top defensive squad like Oklahoma City. The Pacers are going to have to slow down the Thunder and showed no signs of being able to in the regular season, as Oklahoma City reached 30 points in six of the eight quarters they played and averaged 126 per game. Prediction: The Thunder are top-to-bottom the best team in the NBA. The Pacers' road success and high-scoring offense allow them to compete in this series but not win it.
