Bail granted to over 120 Nov 26 protesters
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has approved bail for more than 120 PTI workers arrested in connection with the Nov 26, 2024 protest against a surety bond of Rs20,000 per person.
The court directed the detained workers to submit an affidavit at the respective police station, pledging not to commit such an offence in the future. A two-member IHC division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the bail petitions of the PTI workers.
Petitioners' counsels Ali Bukhari, Babar Awan and Murtaza Turi along with other legal representatives appeared before the court.

He said that the ongoing military operation, 'Bunyan-un-Marsoos', being carried out in the name of justice, has achieved historic success, and Pakistan has emerged before the world as a strong nuclear power. Sanaullah said that under the leadership of PM Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan has stepped onto the path of economic growth. He once again called on PTI and all political parties to come together for the country's betterment and agree on the Charter of Economy, just as the entire nation had shown unity and consensus between May 6 and May 10. He stressed that politics can wait — what's most important is fixing the economy, especially since 240 million Pakistanis are struggling with inflation and economic pressures. He appealed to opposition leaders to accept the Prime Minister's invitation and agree on the formation of a neutral Election Commission so that the next general elections are free and fair, leaving no room for objection. The adviser said that Pakistan has earned respect and recognition at the global level — countries that once distanced themselves are now compelled to listen. He warned that if political leaders continue to prioritise personal or group interests, it will go against national interest. He urged the public to put pressure on political parties to put the nation first. Commenting on PTI's protest movement, Rana Sanaullah said the movement is ineffective because the party lacks both preparation and public support. He further criticised Imran Khan, saying that if the former Prime Minister ties his release to the country's economic progress, it would be an injustice to the nation. Speaking on India's intentions, he responded to a question saying that the Modi government is following the RSS's extremist agenda and is hostile toward both Pakistan and Muslims. He added that while the military has fulfilled its duties, it is now the responsibility of the political leadership to unite for national development. He claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is taking the upcoming local government elections seriously and will participate actively under the new Local Government Act. He confirmed that these elections will be held on a party basis. Sanaullah also said that the Punjab government is working on welfare schemes such as the Kisan Card, Mazdoor Card, and Mazoor Card to improve the quality of life for ordinary citizens. He concluded by noting that major national projects, including Pakistan's nuclear tests, were completed during PML-N's tenure, and that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is now stepping forward with a new vision of public service.

Sindh bans 4-seater rickshaws; amends vehicle registration rules
Sindh government on Friday approved a ban on four-seater rickshaws and online as well as on the counter sale of tinted windows, police lights, and sirens. The meeting chaired by Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar discussed amendments to the Motor Vehicles Rules also approved outsourcing the motor vehicle fitness check. IGP Sindh, and secretaries of law, transport and mass transit, excise and taxation, along with the DIG traffic were present in the meeting. They approved mandatory fitness certification for commercial and non-commercial vehicles, It was decided that a draft would be prepared and submitted to the government for approval and ratification of the amendments. Participants approved a complete ban on four-seater rickshaws, and decided to make it mandatory for water tankers and dumpers to install trackers and sensors. Minister Lanjar stated that third party services will be engaged to issue fitness certificates to commercial and non-commercial vehicles, with formal Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed with them. Violation fines were also approved, including Rs200,000 fined for wrong-way driving of government vehicles, Rs25,000 for motorcyclists driving against traffic, and Rs100,000 for four-wheelers violating one-way rules. Motorcyclists driving without a license are to be fined Rs25,000, while car drivers are to be fined Rs50,000 for the violation. Meanwhile, first-time offenders of one-wheeling or drifting are to be fined Rs100,000, increasing to Rs200,000 and Rs300,000 for repeat offenses. Minister Lanjar also approved the installation of at least five cameras in heavy/load-carrying vehicles. Additionally, e-challans for traffic violations will be delivered to vehicle owners' registered home addresses, and vehicles with unpaid fines will not be approved for sale or transfer. The minister further stated that the traffic, transport, and excise systems will now be interlinked and operated online, while a dedicated Traffic Magistrate will be appointed to handle traffic law violation cases. Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawala assured the department's full support in enforcing traffic regulations and emphasised that no registration or route permit will be issued to four-seater or larger rickshaws, and a crackdown will be launched against any such vehicles on the roads. He further stated that all organisational steps to establish the vehicle fitness service structure will be completed promptly, after which strict enforcement of fitness requirements will follow.

Five AVLC cops held for kidnapping
Malir Cantt police raided the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) office in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, rescuing an abductee and arresting five AVLC personnel, including a sub-inspector. Reportedly, the victim, Madad Ali, had gone missing from near his residence in Bilawal Jokhio Goth. After failing to locate him, his family registered a complaint at the police station. Then, acting on intelligence, police raided the AVLC office and recovered Madad Ali, who had been detained on the station's rooftop for three days. The arrested personnel were identified as Constables Abdul Ghaffar, Riyaz, Khalid, Naeem, and Sub-Inspector Rashid Ali. They allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 from the victim's family for his release. Another individual reportedly involved was also taken into custody. During interrogation, the officers confessed to keeping the victim in illegal detention and attempting to extort ransom money. Further investigations are ongoing.
