Government Cheese – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review
An Evening with Abraham Cohen
Episode 8 of Government Cheese begins with Hampton and Harrison heading back home after their fishing trip. Harrison winds up seeing the temple flyer on the backseat but doesn't think much of it. Hampton meanwhile, crashes on the sofa.
He waits for Harrison and Astoria to leave before grabbing the stash of money in his pocket. The whole encounter with the catfish is still playing on his mind, and this brings more surreal visions to life, including Bootsy who has been suspiciously absent for a few episodes.
The crux of the issue here stems from that money, which Hampton knows he shouldn't have taken but his greed got the better of him.
In the morning, Hampton drives to the temple and intends to give the money back but the rabbi shows up and stops him. With the money hidden behind his back, the Rabbi knows that he's a man in crisis and convinces Hampton to pray with him, ending with 'all will be forgiven'.
Hampton leaves the wad of money on the podium before leaving, but it doesn't take long before word of the safe break-in spreads. The police show up to investigate the area, although they dismiss the neighbour talking about her fireplace.
When the Rabbi finds the money on the podium, he wants to rescind his police report, believing all has been resolved. Despite the window latch being broken (thanks to Eli breaking it just before) it turns out Hampton took the building fund fees, not the charity funds.
The police do leave but naturally, the female detective is not in the mood to just turn the other cheek, so they decide to look around the neighbourhood. They head over to the neighbour's place and find a shoe in the fireplace, which is a big clue.
Meanwhile, Astoria shows off her designs to her boss, Mr Briess, who's impressed by her work. The position is opening up in San Francisco though so it means she'd need to move. However, she's confident that her husband will be able to look after the kids in her absence.
Hampton thinks he's out the woods but the reality is he's far from it. Despite giving the money back, the detectives find Bootsy, dead, stuck in the chimney above the neighbour's place. Without a drill or tools with him though, the detectives realize that there may be another suspect.
The Episode Review
So Hampton's life is about to be completely upended and to be honest, he only has himself to blame for it. 8 episodes in, we've heard very little about his drill or RocketCorp which is pretty amusing because this is the entire crux of the situation and its just been brushed aside here in favour of the familial drama and the temple incident.
All of this could have been avoided if Hampton just sold his drill and to be honest, given what we've seen, he's barely using it anyway. Its been a prop to break into the safe but he's not progressed in any way with the RocketCorp angle. And with 2 episodes left, it's unclear if he'll even circle back to this.
The surrealism angle is a nice touch that continues to enhance this one, but the series is struggling to balance all these characters and actually flesh out their journeys in a meaningful way, which is a shame.
Hopefully this one ends with a bang though.

Dean Harrison clinches maiden Superstock victory with scorching 135mph lap: ‘I'm over the moon'
Harrison was willed on by thousands of fans desperate to see him return to the top step of the podium after a series of near-misses. The Bradford rider, who lives on the island, finished third in Monday's Superbike race and second in the opening Supersport race after leading on the first two laps, but Harrison finally emerged on top. He produced a red-hot final lap of 135.692mph in the shortened two-lap race to take over from Davey Todd (8TEN Racing BMW) and never relinquished his advantage. The 36-year-old was ahead at Glen Helen on lap two by 2.3s and Harrison continued to stretch his lead further to five seconds at Ramsey. He won by 11.656s from Todd, with Michael Dunlop taking third on his MD Racing BMW, 20 seconds further down. 'I've been trying and trying, and everyone will tell you how hard it is to win a TT – to get on the podium is hard enough, never mind win one,' said Harrison. 'It's been a tough week and I've been a bit up and down but I've had a three, two and now one. 'Everyone was waving their arms over the fence and spurring me on and I was digging deeper and deeper as they were waving at me more. 'I just rode as hard as I could, read my boards and I'm over the moon with that. 'I got stuck behind Davo [David Johnson] a little bit on lap one going through Glen Helen, so I was held up a little bit there, but to be fair we've worked so hard all week with Honda and to give Honda a TT win – I'm over the moon,' he added. 'I keep saying that the Fireblade is so fast and we're making the bike better and better every time, and 135mph on a 'stocker is good going.' Dunlop said a problem with the electronics on his BMW didn't help his cause as he sought a first Superstock win since 2014. 'My electronic sensor jammed and I don't know if we've got a gremlin in the bike, but the blipper was working and then sometimes not working,' he said. 'With places so fast here you can't afford not to know if it's working or not.' James Hillier (Muc-Off Honda) was fourth, with Ian Hutchinson (MLav Racing BMW) and Conor Cummins (Burrows/RK Racing BMW) the first six. Former Honda Racing rider Nathan Harrison maintained his fine form with a solid ride to seventh on the H&H Motorcycles Honda ahead Dominic Herbertson (HRRC Adam Hewitt Ltd Honda). Paul Jordan was 12th on the Jackson Racing Honda.

Katie Price pull out of joint tour with Kerry Katona and issues statement
Katie Price has quit her UK tour with Kerry Katona due to 'childcare commitments' leaving the entire 38-date tour in jeopardy three months before first show Katie Price has confirmed that she has made the decision to quit her 38-date UK tour with Kerry Katona, over "childcare commitments." The pair, who first met while on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here back in 2004, were set to embark on a nationwide tour together, which had been titled An Evening with Katie and Kerry - On Tour. It remains unknown whether Kerry, 44, will fulfil her side of the agreement and tour by herself or if the entire tour will be cancelled. A source claimed the model is 'gutted' and 'tried everything she could' in order to make the tour work, but has been forced to pull out of the tour. The source claimed to The Sun: "She hates letting her fans down and hopes to be able to do something similar in the future. At the moment, it's unclear whether Kerry will continue without her or if the whole tour will be scrapped." Keen to quell speculation of a rift between the two, the source claimed that both women are "still best of mates, but it's a huge blow to their fans." And a representative for Katie, 47, who is a mother of five confirmed: "Yes, that's correct. Kate has childcare commitments that come first." The first show was scheduled to be held at Ellesmere Port on September 11 and the tour was set to end in October 22 in Hull. The premise of the show was to treat fans to anecdotes of their two decade friendship, their marriages, divorces and bankruptcy issues. The tour was also set to address their time on I'm A Celebrity, family values and their journey towards turning their lives around, along with audience participation. Promoting their show before the shock announcement, a post on a ticket site said: "Join them for an evening that promises to be warm, inspirational, motivational and lots of fun!" It continued: "There will also be some song and dance and an opportunity for audience questions." And to make matters worse, meet and greet tickets were also being promoted with one theatre stating: "40 Meet & Greet tickets are available for an exclusive after-show Meet & Greet with the ladies." Back in March, theatre production company ABPLTD took to Instagram and posted: "AN EVENING WITH KATIE AND KERRY - ON TOUR @kerrykatona7 and @katieprice are heading out on the road this autumn for a tell-all tour sharing stories of their friendship, marriage and divorce, bankruptcy, 'I'm A Celebrity', the importance of family, their constant press attention and turning their lives around.
