The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off a nightmare of a season. Following a successful summer last year, expectations were that the Pelicans would establish themselves as one of the elite teams in the Western Conference.

Instead, injuries derail their season and once again, at the forefront of it was their superstar forward, Zion Williamson. Williamson was once again hampered by injuries this year, playing in only 30 games.
The rumors are swirling, and with his future in New Orleans uncertain, there's a chance that last season was the last we'll see of him in the Big Easy. However, if the Pelicans were to make Williamson available for trade, they may not get a massive haul in return.
According to Shamit Dua of WDSU New Orleans, multiple executives around the league believe Williamson's trade value will be limited.

"There will be teams who do not care and but those teams who do not care need to be sufficiently desperate one and two they're not going to give you anything of value. So you're going to get really bad contracts and likely no picks. But if you do get a pick, it's a late pick. So an example would be Andrew Wiggins and Duncan Robinson for Zion and some small salary just to kind of make it even."

While there is no doubt about Williamson's talent, injuries have taken a toll, and many seem to prefer not to deal with it.
Williamson's career has not panned out like many expected it to. While he's still earned two All-Star appearances, he's sat on the sidelines more than he's played on the hardwood.
This past season, Williamson put up impressive numbers—averaging 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field in just 28.6 minutes of action. However, if a team were to pursue a trade for him, the return package would likely include picks projected toward the back end of the draft.
Concerns about Williamson go beyond just his on-court availability. His recurring injuries are closely tied to lingering questions about his durability, conditioning, and off-court discipline—issues that have followed him since he entered the league in 2019.

Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Has Hawks Swap Trae Young for Three Former Lottery Picks

Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Has Hawks Swap Trae Young for Three Former Lottery Picks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There could be a change for the Atlanta Hawks this offseason after missing the NBA playoffs for the second straight year. The Hawks haven't been competitive, despite having Trae Young, the league's leader in assists per game. With the lack of a competent roster, it could be time for Atlanta to trade Young. Advertisement Last season, the Hawks had a 40-42 record and lost in the Play-In Tournament. The organization hasn't been in the conversation of being a playoff team for a while. Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey suggested that it's time for the Hawks to consider trading the All-Star guard. Given that the front office hasn't been able to give Young enough help to contend, Bailey suggested that a fresh start with a different franchise could be the next step. Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is guarded by Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images According to Bailey, the team that would benefit from Young would be the Orlando Magic. In the postseason, it became clear that the Magic need a point guard who's capable of being an elite floor general. Advertisement The blockbuster trade idea would send Young to the Magic in exchange for Jalen Suggs, Anthony Black, Jett Howard and a top-10-protected 2027 first-round pick. Acquiring the three former lottery picks could be the perfect fit for what Atlanta is trying to do. "The Hawks have never been able to figure out how to surround him with a workable defense that can cover for his shortcomings on that end," Bailey argued. "And they're brewing their own little positionless philosophy that could benefit from Jalen Suggs' defense and a few more on-ball opportunities for the likes of Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher." The Hawks have a promising young core in Zaccharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels. Young is the only player who doesn't fit the Hawks' timetable. With the Hawks, Young has developed into a four-time All-Star and one of the best facilitators in the NBA. He has averaged 25.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 9.8 assists in seven seasons. Tyrese Haliburton Is On Cusp of Passing Reggie Miller

Tyrese Haliburton Is On Cusp of Passing Reggie Miller originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers, by roaring back to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, not only showed that the Thunder are human but also demonstrated that they are a very real threat. Advertisement Entering the series, despite the Pacers' track record, the Thunder were seen as an unbeatable team. Now trailing Indiana 0-1 with a loss on their home court, the winds have shifted. With 0.3 seconds left, Tyrese Haliburton hit his fifth game-winning bucket of the postseason, rising over Cason Wallace to steal the game. Haliburton made his second All-NBA team this season, but his playoff clutch shooting has gotten him more attention than any regular-season success. The Pacers have never won the NBA Finals before, and if they manage to bring home a banner, Haliburton might be Indiana's greatest player ever. "Does Tyrese Halliburton pass Reggie Miller for greatest Pacer?" asked Georges Niang. "You get a ring, it puts you in a different category." Advertisement Niang's FanDuel co-hosts, Lou Williams, Chandler Parsons, and Michelle Beadle, all seemed to agree. Right now, Reggie Miller is easily the greatest Pacer ever. He spent 18 seasons with the Pacers, made five All-Star Games, and is one of the best shooters in league history. However, he only made the Finals once, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers. It's not his fault that his prime matched up with Michael Jordan's, although Haliburton seems to be on the cusp of doing what Miller never did. "All of this is about winning," added Williams. It's hard to imagine Miller disagreeing with that. Check out the All Pacers homepage for more news, analysis, and must-read articles. Brittney Griner's Teammate Makes Atlanta Dream History Against Connecticut Sun

Brittney Griner's Teammate Makes Atlanta Dream History Against Connecticut Sun originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Mohegan Sun Arena was buzzing on Friday night as the 5-2 Atlanta Dream took on the struggling 1-6 Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the Commissioner's Cup. Advertisement Atlanta's offense, ranked second in the league at 85.9 points per game, came in riding the momentum of a four-game winning streak, led by Allisha Gray's 21.4 PPG and Rhyne Howard's 17.6 PPG, career highs for both players. Despite a slow start, the Dream leaned on its depth to cut the lead to 36-35 at the end of the first half, with WNBA legend Brittney Griner leading the way with eight points. However, before any of that, it was forward Naz Hillmon who quietly etched her name into franchise lore. After stepping onto the court for her 115th straight game, all with Atlanta, Hillmon ascended to the second-longest consecutive game streak in Dream history, as noted by the team on X. At Michigan, Hillmon remains the program's all-time leader in rebounds (1,063), double-doubles (52) and free throws made (487), earning Big Ten Player of the Year (2021) and first-team All-American honors in both 2021 and 2022. Advertisement Drafted 15th overall in 2022, Hillmon immediately made an impact, grabbing 172 rebounds, setting a Dream rookie rebounding record. Atlanta Dream head coach Karl Zanine-Imagn Images Over her first three seasons, Hillmon has been a model of consistency, playing all 40 games in both 2023 and 2024, posting career-best averages of 5.7 points and 4.8 rebounds on 21.7 minutes per game in 2024. WNBA action aside, Hillmon also starred in Australia's WNBL, earning All-WNBL Second Team (2024) and First Team (2025) honors.
