Three mule a/c holders held in 3cr matrimonial scam
Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad cybercrime police have arrested three mule bank account holders from New Delhi following an investigation into a complaint of a 45-year-old manager of a private firm in Pimpri Chinchwad, who lost Rs3.16 crore in a matrimonial scam between June 2023 and Sept 2024.

The scam started when the woman, victim in the scam, came into contact with a 'US-based NRI' via a matrimonial website in May 2023. The man told her that he was running a business in Alaska and promised to marry her. They started talking and video-calling.
Later, the man started requesting the woman to help him financially and told her that he was suffering losses in business. The woman started transferring money to him.
He used to give different reasons including money for regularizing bank account in Dubai, medical treatment, repaying loans, and air-ticket expenditure from Dubai to New Delhi and New Delhi to Venezuela, the police said.
At one point, he also asked money from the victim by claiming that he was detained at Istanbul airport in Turkey, police said, adding that the woman kept providing money and eventually transferred Rs3.16 crore between June 2023 and Sept 2024.
When she came to realize that she was cheated, the woman suffered depression. It is only after her relative convicsed her to file a complaint in March 2025, she approached the police.
Senior inspector Ravikiran Nale of the Pimpri Chinchwad cybercrime police said that two teams, led by assistant inspector Pravin Swami and sub-inspector Sagar Poman, were deployed to investigate. "The teams found that Rs 3.16 crore were transferred to 81 bank accounts and from these accounts, the money went into 400 accounts.

Most of these accounts belonged to different banks in New Delhi," he said.
The police investigations also revealed that 11 bank accounts were opened two years ago using a single rent agreement. "Sub-inspector Poman and his team reached New Delhi to trace people who opened these 11 accounts. The team found that the account holders had changed their cellphone numbers. With technical investigation, sub-inspector Poman took Sikandar Khan (21) into custody from Jonapur in Delhi.
Khan then revealed names of two more suspects, Ranjit Yadav (27) and his brother Bablu Yadav (25), both from Jonapur.
Ranjit Yadav had accepted Rs 36.96 lakh into his account," he said.
The arrested people used to contact their handler using a mobile messenger application to avoid tracing. "We have ascertained the identity of their handler and our search is underway to find other suspects in the case," said Nale.

The situation escalated when a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court, asking the court to direct the government to hand over possession of six newly built school buildings. The litigation prompted the Chief Secretary to investigate the matter, during which significant irregularities in construction practices and fund management were uncovered.

All five accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon killing - wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Kushwaha and three alleged hitmen Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi - have admitted to their crime, said the police on Friday. The Meghalaya Police would take all five accused in the case to the crime spot at Sohra-Cherrapunji areas of the East Khasi Hills district next week for reconstruction of the crime, officials said. The newly-wed couple - Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi - from Madhya Pradesh's Indore went missing from a village near Sohra (Cherrapunji) in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district on May 23, two days after they landed in the northeastern state on their honeymoon. They were married on May 11. The man's body was retrieved from a 200-foot deep gorge on June 2. Wife Sonam, said police, surrendered at a police station in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Monday. "The murder was planned right before Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam's wedding. Raj Kushwaha is the mastermind behind this and Sonam is his partner in crime. The three killers were Raj's friends, and one among them is his cousin," Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Syiem Vivek, who is overseeing the investigation, told NDTV. "Since February this year, the planning was going on about how to make Sonam disappear. Two ideas were under consideration to make her disappear: first, Sonam should be shown jumping into the river; second, someone should be murdered and the body should be burnt presented as Sonam's. But the accused could not implement these plans. The plan to murder Raja was made 11 days before his marriage," said the officer. Sonam Raghuvanshi, 24, was in love with Raj Kushwaha, 21, and had warned her family of "consequences" if she was pressured to marry Raja Raghuvanshi, police sources said. As per the preliminary autopsy report, Raja Raghuvanshi, 29, was hit twice, once each on the back and front of his head. "This is not a contract killing, however, an investigation regarding the same is underway. Raj had paid the three hitmen Rs 50,000 each," said the police officer. Raja Raghuvanshi was told by his wife Sonam that she would let him consummate the marriage only after making an offering at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, investigators had said on Wednesday. "When Sonam and Raja reached Guwahati to visit Kamakhya after marriage, the killers had already reached Guwahati on 19 May. Their initial plan was to kill Raja in Guwahati itself. But Sonam had planned to go to Shillong and Sohra. Therefore, this plan was shelved," said the officer. "After that, they reached Nongriat. Thereafter, all of them attacked Raja and killed him and hid his body. They left soon after," said the officer. After this, the officer said, Sonam wore a burqa offered by one of the hitmen and reached Guwahati in a taxi. "Then from Guwahati she took a bus and went to Siliguri, from Siliguri she went to Patna, from Patna she took a bus to Ara, from Ara she took a train to Lucknow, from Lucknow she took a bus to Indore," said the officer, detailing her movements after the murder. "After the three hitmen were arrested, Sonam was told by Raj to leave Indore and tell her family that she was kidnapped," said the officer. The day Raja's body was found, on June 2, Sonam was in Indore, said the officer. Sonam was in Indore from June 25 to 8, the officer said. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya police is probing the sensational murder.

Punjabi influencer Kamal Kaur, missing since June 9, was found dead in a parked car in Bathinda with police launching a murder investigation and probing possible threats New Delhi Kanchan Kumari, a Punjabi social media influencer known online as Kamal Kaur, was found dead inside a parked car in Bathinda, Punjab, police said on Thursday. Residents near Adesh University alerted authorities after noticing a foul odour coming from a stationary vehicle. Police discovered her body in the rear seat. 'It appears some unidentified persons left the body in the car here after murdering her,' said Bathinda Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh. Influencer went missing en route to event Kaur, a 30-year-old resident of Ludhiana, had been missing since 9 June. She had informed her mother that she was travelling to Bathinda for a promotional event but lost contact soon after, according to Bathinda police. A turbaned man was seen driving the vehicle and walking away afterward. The vehicle was later found to have a fake number plate. Kaur's online presence and alleged threats Kaur was a prominent content creator, known for her comedic videos under the Instagram handle 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', which had 384,000 followers. Her YouTube channel, 'Funny Bhabhi', had 236,000 subscribers. Her content, often humorous and occasionally provocative, attracted both admiration and criticism. Media reports indicate that in 2024, she was allegedly warned by individuals claiming ties to Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla. She was told to stop posting what they deemed 'vulgar' content. No formal complaint was filed at the time, according to The Indian Express. Police probe motives, await post-mortem report Police are investigating whether Kaur had received recent threats or was involved in any disputes, either personal or professional. Her body has been sent for post-mortem, and authorities continue to gather evidence to determine the cause and motive behind the suspected murder.
