President Aoun meets head of ceasefire monitoring committee and US Ambassador ahead of Naqoura talks
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Major General Jasper Jeffers, head of the ceasefire monitoring committee, ahead of the committee's meeting in Naqoura. U.S. Ambassador Lisa Johnson attended the meeting as well.
During the talks, Aoun urged Jeffers to press Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement, withdraw from the five positions it occupies, and return Lebanese detainees.

Lebanon hosts about 222,000 Palestinian refugees, according to the United Nations agency UNRWA, many living in 12 overcrowded official camps. Most are descendants of Palestinians who fled or were expelled from their land during the creation of Israel in 1948.
