Judges expected to deliver verdict in Depardieu sex assault trial
Judges at the Paris Criminal Court are expected to deliver their verdict on Tuesday in the sexual assault trial of the French cinema icon Gérard Depardieu.
If found guilty, prosecutors want an 18-month suspended prison sentence for the 76-year-old Frenchman who has starred in more than 200 films and TV series since emerging in Bertrand Blier's 1974 feature Les Valseuses.
During the hearing in March, a 54-year-old set dresser identified only as Amelie and Sarah, a 34-year-old assistant director, accused the actor of attacking them during the filming in 2021 of "Les Volets Verts" by director Jean Becker.
Depardieu denies the charges.
Amelie said that Depardieu had behaved like a wild animal on set. Depardieu had boasted he could give women an orgasm without touching them, she told the court. She also said Depardieu made obscene remarks and suggestions.
"I'm vulgar, rude, foul-mouthed, I'll accept that," Depardieu told the court. "I don't touch. I adore women and femininity," he added.
During the third day of the trial, Sarah and Depardieu recounted different versions of the incidents on the film set in September 2021.
Depardieu denied touching her but she told the court she recalled Depardieu's hand on her buttock.
"I may have brushed against her with my back in the corridor, but I didn't touch her," Depardieu said.
"We left the dressing rooms, it was dark and at the end of the street, he put his hand on my buttock, he put it down quietly."
Throughout the trial, Depardieu was supported by his daughter, Roxane, his ex-partner, Karine Silla and actor Vincent Perez.

Queens dogs stolen after bizarre botched robbery
What started as a robbery caper in Queens quickly turned into a dognapping disaster, cops said. A desperate dog lover is trying to track down his precious purloined pooches days after an armed thieves tried to rob him and his friend on a Queens street, but ended up swiping the man's pets. The 31-year-old victim managed to get away from the would-be captors, but the suspects got hold of the victim's phone — and the keys to his apartment. Hours later, the crooks let themselves into the victim's home, and walked off with about $6,000 worth of clothes — and two French bulldogs, cops said. 'I was thinking I was going to die,' the dog owner, who wished not to be named, told the Daily News. Police have released surveillance images of the two crooks in the hopes that someone recognizes them. The thieves did not know either the dog owner or his friend, but were trying to maximize their score by forcing one victim to reach out to the other, a police source with knowledge of the case said. The ordeal began Saturday along Crane St., a small, one-block-long stretch in Long Island City, when the two suspects approached the dog owner's 27-year-old friend, who was on a bike, and forced him into a car at gunpoint, cops said. After punching him several times, the crooks took his iPhone and about $800, then used the phone to text the dog owner, who the bike rider was heading over to meet. A short time later, the unsuspecting dog owner appeared. He was also forced into the car, where he was beaten and robbed. But he managed to escape, just as one of the robbers was trying to bind him with zip ties, he recalled. 'I grabbed the gun and started punching and fighting one of them,' he said about his ordeal. 'The other guy jumped into the car and we were all fighting for the gun. They were screaming, 'Shoot him! Shoot him!'' The dog owner managed to get out of the car and run across the street. 'They panicked and sped off,' he said. 'I dropped my phone and my keys.' As for his friend, he said the robbers later pushed him out of the car in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The dog owner went to his sister's house to decompress after the robbery. But by the time he got home, he realized he had been robbed again, he said. The thieves managed to figure out that the dog owner lived on the block where the robbery occurred and took something far more valuable to him than his phone. They took his two best friends. The thieves pretended to be delivering food in the building to get past the doorman as they made their way up to his apartment. They left with the dogs shortly before their victim returned home, the victim said. 'We just missed each other by minutes. They were caught on video,' the dog owner said. No arrests have been made. 'I find it difficult to talk about them because it makes me want to cry,' he added. 'I feel like I failed my dogs, I haven't been able to eat because I think of my dogs not being fed.' Gone are Cookie Monster, a 4-year-old male bulldog, and Pinky, a 3-year-old female. Their owner has been posting pictures on local streets and all across social media. 'I've been doing as much as I can,' he said. 'I just want my kids back.' Cops recovered surveillance images of the two suspects. One is described as between 20 and 25, around 5-foot-8 and about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Chicago Bulls cap, a black surgical mask and a black sweater. His partner is in his late 20s, around 6 feet tall and about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap and a gray sweater. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Hideo Kojima says Metal Gear spiritual successor Physint is still "another five or six years" away, and that he may finally direct a movie after
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Hideo Kojima has told a French magazine that his upcoming Metal Gear spiritual successor, Physint, is still "another five or six years" away. Hideo Kojima is weeks away from launching his studio's next game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but from the looks of things, he's already planned out the next 10-or-so years of his life (and planned out ideas to leave behind after he's gone). After the Death Stranding sequel, there are two more upcoming Hideo Kojima games currently announced: OD, an upcoming horror game that's being made in partnership with director Jordan Peele for Xbox Game Studios, and Physint, a new entry in the "action-espionage" genre (so basically, a Metal Gear spiritual successor). Physint was confirmed at the end of a State of Play last January, but there hasn't been any news on it since then. With Death Stranding 2 and OD in the way, many assumed it would be a while away yet, and now Kojima has given a rough idea of when we can expect it. In an interview with French magazine Le Film Francais posted by Kojima's assistant @kaizerkunkun on Twitter (and translated by ResetEra user Red Kong XIX), Kojima dropped some info about Physint when asked if he would like to direct a film. "Besides Death Stranding 2, there's also Physint in development." Kojima said, adding, "That will take me another five or six years. But maybe after that, I could finally decide to take on a film." So, unfortunately it looks like we'll be playing Physint in 2031 at the earliest. What's interesting is that Kojima didn't mention OD. Kojima mentioned that both it and Physint faced delays due to the 2024 SAG strike, but he hasn't given any indication as to when OD will be released. If I had to guess, OD will likely release before Physint, and he will probably start revealing more about it once Death Stranding 2 has Stranding 2 isn't weird enough: Hideo Kojima has an idea for a game where your character forgets everything if you stop playing.
