What is Harry Potter Day?
International Harry Potter Day was officially declared by David Cameron, the Prime Minister of Britain at the time, in 2012. It is designated to be on May 2, the day Harry defeated Lord Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Get the invites & dress code right
The invite: Skip the evite and go for craft invites resembling Hogwarts acceptance letters. It'll not only showcase your creativity but will be equally fun DIY sesh.
Dress code: Encourage costumes, obviously! Suggest robes, house colours, favourite character attire, or 'Wizarding World Chic' (a style trend inspired by the fashion seen in the Harry Potter films).
Mention it on the invite.
Décor & ambience
* An entrance fit for Potterheads: Use a brick-patterned fabric or a cardboard sheet to create a Platform 9 ¾ entrance. Dim lighting is key throughout the party space.
* Floating candles: Suspend LED pillar candles from the ceiling for effect. Create a sky using fabric and dot it with fairy lights.
* House pride: Fancy and playful Harry Potter merchandise is available online. You can either buy Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw banners or even create your own using coloured felt or fabric – after all, you have almost a week to put this together.
* Create some magic: For aesthetics, randomly old books, potion bottles (use coloured water, glitter, and label them 'Confusing concoction' or 'Polyjuice Potion'), quills, and 'flying keys' (old keys with paper wings). Print 'Wanted' posters featuring faces of your guests.
Serve up some wizarding beverages
Pumpkin juice: Blend apple cider (or apple juice) with pumpkin puree, a touch of apricot nectar, brown sugar or maple syrup to taste, and pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves).

Gillywater: Use still or sparkling water infused with cucumber slices, fresh mint leaves, and maybe a squeeze of lemon.
Polyjuice potion punch: Mix lemon soda with scoops of lime sherbet. It will froth up nicely. Use a base of green Hawaiian Punch or blend kiwi/pineapple juice.
You could serve this in cauldron-style mugs or beaker glasses. Add gummy worms or eyeballs for extra creepiness.
Felix Felicis: Use sparkling white grape juice or ginger ale as a base. Add a splash of pineapple or peach juice for colour. Top it with edible gold glitter or lustre dust, and mix.
Draught of Living Death punch: Use dark grape juice, black cherry juice, or cola. Add some blackberries or blackcurrant syrup.
Serve in potion bottles or dark goblets
Prepare a magical feast
Shares Chef Vidhi Gupta, 'Butterbeer cupcakes is a great treat to include as HP is synonymous with Butterbeer, the famous drink you get at Hogsmeade's. Since the flavour profile is butterscotch – we can do a rich butterscotch frosting and make the batter with the cream soda for that signature flavour. It's a comforting and nostalgic drink, one that is fit for a feast in the Great Hall.'
Professor Sprout's Garden veggie pasties: Flaky pastry turnovers filled with a mix of diced potatoes, carrots, peas, onions, and maybe some cheese or paneer, seasoned well
Mini shepherd's pies: Individual ramekins filled with lentil and vegetable stew, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and baked until golden
Herbology class veggie platter: An assortment of fresh raw veggies, served with dips like hummus (Mandrake Mousse), green chutney (Gillyweed Dip), or ranch
Cheesy pretzel wands: Pretzel rods served alongside a cheese fondue dip
Sorting hat sandwiches: Cut mini sandwiches or cheese quesadillas into triangle shapes to resemble the Sorting Hat

Treacle tart: A traditional British tart made with golden syrup (treacle) in a pastry crust

Los Angeles protests: Meghan Markle's appearance at Natural History Museum gala postponed
Meghan Markle was all set to appear on June 14 at the Night of Wonder gala organized by the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC). The event has now been postponed due to the ongoing violence in Los Angeles in the aftermath of raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. The event will now be held at a later date, as per People magazine. The decision to reschedule the event was taken by the Natural History Museum's leadership, Board of Trustees and event partners. They agreed that postponing the event was 'the appropriate response to current community circumstances,' the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County said in a release. 'As an institution 'of, for, and with Los Angeles,' our responsibility during challenging times is clear: to serve as a community resource focused on healing and unity, not celebration,' Dr. Lori Bettison-Varga, President and Director of NHMLAC, told People. The event was planned to celebrate the Duchess of Sussex's work championing 'underserved communities.' In 2020, the Suits alum moved to Montecito, California, with Prince Harry and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after the couple stepped back from royal duties. Since then, Meghan has been part of several events across Los Angeles, including the Paley Honors last year. 'We are proud to honor Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, a native Angeleno, whose work to advance community wellbeing and expand opportunity — especially for underserved communities — aligns with our equity-focused approach to developing science literacy for the next generation, including through our STEM and STEAM Pathways programs,' Dr. Bettison-Varga said in a statement. The event's postponement echoes another rescheduling related to the Duchess of Sussex's ventures. Earlier this year, Meghan postponed the premiere of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan due to the wildfires ravaging LA and other parts of California. She is the host of a show called With Love, Meghan. The show has been renewed for a second season. The Suits star stepped back from acting to marry Prince Harry in 2017. She shares two kids with her husband Prince Harry, Archie and Lilibet.

Meghan Markle-Prince Harry visit Disneyland with their kids-- Did he recreate his precious memory with Princess Diana?
Ever since and got married, the royal couple hardly fail to make the headlines. More so, after they stepped down from their duties as senior members of the UK royal family and decided to live an independent life in the US. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Earlier this year, after a hiatus of roughly five years, Meghan rejoined social media platform Instagram where she keeps posting pictures of her life with Harry and their kids in the US-- giving their fans and people a glimpse of their family. More recently, Meghan Markle posted a video of her vacation with Prince Harry and their children- Archie and Lilibet-- enjoying some family time at Disneyland. What started as a lighthearted family vacation quietly turned into a touching tribute to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana— one that warmed the hearts of fans around the world. In a video shared on Meghan's social media profile, Harry and Meghan were seen laughing, playing, and riding attractions with their little ones. From cotton candy smiles to wide-eyed wonder on rides, the footage captured the magic of family and the simple joys of childhood. But for many viewers, one moment stood out—a scene that mirrored a treasured memory from Harry's past. Back in August 1993, a newly divorced Princess Diana took her sons, Harry and William, to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It was a rare, carefree escape from the public eye following her separation from Prince Charles. Among the highlights of that trip was a ride on the park's iconic log flume— an adventure that left the young princes beaming and drenched, with Diana smiling beside them. Photos from that day captured more than just a fun ride— they froze in time a mother's pure love and the safe space she tried to give her boys amid royal chaos. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Image credits: X/@lorrainemking Fast forward to today, and Harry found himself in a similar moment—this time as the father, holding tight to his own children as they rode the very same water ride. Meghan's reel didn't announce the parallel, but longtime fans recognized the symbolism. The splash, the laughter, the wide smiles—it all echoed the joy Harry once shared with his mother. Whether intentional or not, the connection was poignant. It's unclear whether this was Harry's first time revisiting the log flume since that day with Diana, but for many, it felt like a quiet way of bringing her spirit into the lives of his children. A full-circle moment that spoke volumes without a single word. According to PEOPLE magazine, back in 1993, Diana arranged for the water ride to be shut down so her boys could enjoy it privately, shielded from the crowds. While it's not known whether Harry had similar accommodations this time, the focus wasn't on exclusivity—it was on togetherness and creating memories. Other snippets from the family's trip showed a Little Mermaid-themed cake for Princess Lilibet, snapshots of the couple braving Space Mountain, and Archie's wide-eyed excitement on various rides. Meghan captioned the video simply: 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy,' pairing the reel with Peggy Lee's cheerful classic, 'It's a Good Day.' And indeed, it was. A day filled with laughter, love, and legacy—a reminder that while some people may no longer be physically present, their love continues to echo through the next generation.
