One UI 8 beta kicks off with Galaxy S25 series — here's the new features and how to try it now
Google I/O has a lot in store for Android 16, but Samsung's wasting no time finalizing One UI 8 software. It's expected to make its debut alongside Samsung's newest foldables this summer, presumably the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, you don't need to wait until then because a beta program is available now for the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung has accelerated the development of One UI 8 to be one of the first platforms built with Android 16, ushering in yet another era of software intelligence with a multimodal AI agent that will bring even more intelligence than before. In addition, there will be other convenience and productivity features — along with UX optimizations that cater to different device form factors.
Even though its official rollout will be this summer, the One UI 8 beta program is available right now with the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra for the U.S., U.K., Korea, and Germany.
Here are all the new features:
One of the biggest selling points of One UI 8 is how it's bringing multimodal AI that should be more aware of what you're doing, by offering personalized and proactive suggestions that adapt to your routine. While the Now Bar and Now Brief debuted alongside the Galaxy S25 Ultra earlier this year, Samsung says it'll deliver more customized insights with One UI 8.
What makes this intelligent modality even better with One UI 8 is that you'll also be able to have seamless communication based on what you're doing on the phone. Google Gemini does this to a degree on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but we suspect that it will learn more of your habits and routines to anticipate what you want done.
Another key feature Samsung is touting with One UI 8 is the new Reminder app, which is geared towards vacation planning. This app will manage all your reminders and to-do lists in an easy-to-use interface that also allows you to add reminders with simple voice commands.

There isn't more detail around what else the Reminder app would do. Still, we suspect that you'll be able to use various AI agents to plan out your trips, complete with itineraries, travel recommendations, and more.
It's great to listen to music with your favorite pair of wireless headphones, but wouldn't it be neat if you could share your stream to multiple audio devices? Well, the Auracast feature with One UI 8 is intended to make it a reality.
This broadcast audio technology is based on Bluetooth LE Audio4, which will essentially allow you to share your phone's audio connection through a QR code. There should be fewer complications with this, but the supported list of Auracast receiver devices only consists of Samsung's Galaxy earbuds — the Buds 3, Buds 3 Pro, and Buds 2 Pro. It's unknown if other headphones will be supported, like models from JBL and Sennheiser.
There could be more in store with One UI 8 that Samsung hasn't shared, like a Samsung DeX makeover. To take part in the One UI 8 beta program, you'll need to sign up through the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy S25 device. There's a banner in the app that points you towards the One UI Beta Program, which seems to support T-Mobile and unlocked devices from what we can see.
We suspect that Samsung will trickle down One UI 8's rollout to other devices, including older Galaxy flagship models, given how it released One UI 7 to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series.

Apple finally got good news about the iPhone this week
The iPhone 16 is on top of the world. The base model iPhone 16 was the best-selling smartphone in the world in the first quarter of 2025, according to a Wednesday research note from Counterpoint. It was the first time in two years that a base model iPhone was in the top spot. Apple continued its streak of dominating the top five smartphones globally. The iPhone 16, followed by the Pro models and iPhone 15, are at the top of the list, with Samsung's Galaxy A16 5G in fifth place. In China — a key region with increasing competition — iPhone 16 Pro models have a steeper challenge due to government subsidies offering discounts on devices under 6,000 yuan, about $833, making the Pro ineligible for a markdown. However, the Pros pulled through to make up nearly half of Apple's iPhone sales for the third quarter straight. All of this is good news for Apple, according to Jacob Bourne, a tech analyst at Business Insider's sister company, EMARKETER. "This is definitely a crucially timed win for Apple. This demonstrates strength in their flagship product lineup despite economic headwinds and ongoing uncertainties," Bourne said. However, Morningstar analyst William Kerwin isn't sure the tech giant should count it as a win. "The iPhone is routinely the best selling smartphone—and the base variant overtaking the Pro this year shows the narrowed gap between the two models this year due to both needing enough chip content to run Apple Intelligence," Kerwin told BI. Apple is in competition with itself and its past iPhone sales, which Kerwin said have been "lackluster this year and over the past two years." Topping the global charts doesn't indicate that Apple is sitting pretty again, Kerwin said. iPhone revenue missed targets during its fiscal first quarter, coming in at $69.14 billion versus the $71.04 billion estimate. The iPhone 16e, however, was an "interesting" piece of Counterpoint's data, Kerwin said. The budget-friendly iPhone, which starts at $599, ranked sixth in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in March — its first full month on shelves. It's expected to outperform its predecessor, the iPhone SE, in its first year. "Overall, we've seen a narrowing of the delta between budget, base, and pro models this year," Kerwin said. Apple has had a tough 2025. CEO Tim Cook seems to remain in limbo with the Trump Administration as President Donald Trump routinely updates his stance on tariffs. On May 23, President Donald Trump said he would implement a 25% tariff on Apple over plans for US iPhone production to be moved from China to India, Trump said in a Truth Social post. "We believe the concept of Apple producing iPhones in the US is a fairy tale that is not feasible," WedBush Securities' Dan Ives wrote in a note on May 23. Almost one year after it was first announced, Apple Intelligence is also a growing concern for Apple and its investors. The AI tools advertised aren't driving sales the way analysts predicted in 2024. "The AI-enabled iPhone 16 still has not revitalized this growth, much less driven a supercycle," Kerwin said.

After all, wireless charging is convenient, and plenty of other phones have it these days. Find out below if this phone has wireless charging and what you can do about it. Does the Samsung Galaxy A13 have wireless charging? No, the Samsung Galaxy A13 does not have wireless charging. If you drop it on a wireless charging pad, nothing will happen. This is to be expected since phones in this price range usually don't have wireless charging capabilities. You'll have to spend around $500 or more to get a phone with wireless charging. However, even in the $500 price range, a lot of devices don't have this feature. However, the Galaxy A13 does have fast charging, so at least you will not be tied to a cable for hours. A half-hour charge will net you around 20% battery, while two hours tops up the entire thing. Unfortunately, the trend of not including power adapters in the box has hit Samsung, too, so you will have to supply your own. How to add wireless charging to a Samsung Galaxy A13 You can add wireless charging to a Samsung Galaxy A13, but you will need an adapter. These plug into the USB-C port on the bottom of the phone and let you use wireless charging pads with your phone. These adapters are usually pretty thin so that they can slide between your phone and a case. That also means they are up and out of the way and stick to the back of your phone. We have not tested these and cannot vouch for them, but these and similar options should bring wireless charging to your Galaxy A13. Remember, you will require a wireless charging pad, too. The Nillkin Qi receiver To add wireless charging to your Galaxy A13, attach this receiver to the USB-C port and stick the flat, broad end onto the back of your phone. You can then insert your phone into a case if you wish. Just ensure it's made of plastic so it does not interfere with wireless charging. It works with fast charging, too. Note that you can buy it in a short version and a long version. The short version measures 9.3 cm, while the long one is 10.4 cm. If you're unsure whether the long version will hit your camera lens or fingerprint scanner, opt for the short version. Options that have a Lightning or micro USB plug also exist, but these won't work with the Galaxy A13. Other options to consider There are plenty of other great options available on Amazon.
