Is Iran truly an existential threat to Israel or to its own people?
Why is it always the West versus Iran? Iranian American lawyer Elica Le Bon says the Islamic Republic's very ideology is built around opposing the West, reinforced by slogans like 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.'
But what would Iran actually do with a nuclear weapon? Le Bon argues the greater threat isn't an attack, but the regime becoming a powerful deterrent state one that cannot be deterred.
Is Iran truly an existential threat to Israel? And why do millions of Iranians oppose the regime so strongly? In this episode of the Riz Khan Show, Le Bon explains how generations have been shaped by repression, executions, and fear under Iran's leadership.

Iran Delivered Hand Slap to America's Face: Says Khamenei
In his first public statement since the announcement of the ceasefire, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared victory over Israel that targeted Iran's nuclear facilities on June 13, according to The Associated Press. The Supreme Leader also stated that Iran has 'delivered a hand slap to America's face' on Thursday. Significant Statement The statement marked the first appearance of Khamenei since June 19, looking and sounding more tired than he did only a week ago. 'The Islamic Republic was victorious and, in retaliation, delivered a hand slap to America's face,' he said. He revealed that the US intervention in the war was basically driven by its feeling 'that if it did not intervene, the Zionist regime would be utterly destroyed.' However, the US had not achieved any gains from this war, he added. After the outbreak of the war on June 13, Khamenei took shelter in a secret location and was not seen in public. Iran's Attack on Qatar Iran launched a missile attack on an American air base in Qatar on June 23 without causing any causalities. US President Donald Trump described the attack as a 'weak response' to the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. The attacks were a response to Us strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Israel-Iran War On June 13, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists. As a response, Iran launched a retaliatory wave of missiles against Israel and targeted Tel Aviv. Israel also killed several Iranian nuclear scientists in line with its goal to eliminate Iran's nuclear program. Khamenei avoided assassination by going underground, Israel says
Israel would have killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were it possible during the countries' 12-day war, Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday. 'I estimate that if Khamenei had been in our sights, we would have taken him out,' Katz said in the interview with Israel's Kan public television. 'But Khamenei understood this, went underground to very great depths, and broke off contacts with the commanders who replaced those commanders who were eliminated, so it wasn't realistic in the end,' he said. Israel killed several top Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists on June 13 at the start of the war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump had both suggested at various times during the air war that Khamenei's life could be in danger as regime change could be a result of the war that ended with a US-brokered ceasefire on Tuesday.
