I tried M&S's new Big Daddy Pistachio - is it worth £8.50?
Dubai-style chocolate is a combination of milk chocolate, pistachio and kadayif pastry, with the first recipe for the trending treat created back in 2021 by Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier.
The popularity of the chocolate flavour took off in 2024, going viral around the world on platforms including TikTok thanks to influencers like Maria Vehera.
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you will have noticed this chocolate craze has begun sweeping across the UK.
Major retailers are now jumping on board the trend and releasing their own versions of the viral chocolate bar.
Already, the likes of Lindt, Lidl and B&M have launched their own Dubai-style chocolate bars.
Then on Wednesday, M&S joined them, releasing The Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bar.
Fans were quick to share their excitement about the release, with an M&S Facebook post about the chocolate alone receiving more than 4,000 likes and nearly 3,000 comments (at the time of writing).
One person, commenting on the M&S Facebook post, said: "TWO bought this morning! It's lovely."
Another shopper wrote: "Il sack the diet to try this."
A third person commented: "Oh my... have to buy 20 when I come from Portugal."
Someone who was lucky enough to get their hands on a Big Daddy chocolate bar posted: "U nailed it ! What a mixture of Carmel , pistachio and a slightly nutty / salty taste !
"I didn't thought it could all work so well together ! Honestly beautiful taste ! I did never ever had anything alike !"
Have you tried M&S's new Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bar? (Image: Patrick Glover) While another added: "Absolutely amazing 10/10.
"No comparison to the Dubai bar … this one's in a league of it's own !!"
Although shoppers were excited about the release of M&S's Dubai-style chocolate bar, some were concerned about the £8.50 price tag.
One shopper said: "£8.50!!!!! And the bar rattles inside the cardboard. Absolute joke."
While another commented: "Soooooo expensive."
So I went out and bought one of M&S's Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bars to put it to the test and see if it really is worth £8.50.
The Dubai-style chocolate bar is delicious and I can see why shoppers across the UK have been describing it as "in a league of its own".
The caramel is a fantastic addition to the pistachio and chocolate flavours already a part of the viral recipe.
The Big Daddy Pistachio tastes amazing, but is it worth the price tag? (Image: Patrick Glover) You get a fair slab of chocolate too - 280g to be precise, but I found it weird you had to cut it up yourself, rather than it coming in breakable squares or rectangles.
RECOMMENDED READING:
I would definitely recommend trying The Big Daddy Pistachio from M&S at least once.
It certainly lives up to the hype and is extremely delicious.
However, I just can't justify the £8.50 price tag. No chocolate should cost that much. I would be happy to pay, say £3.50 for it, absolute maximum.
The Big Daddy Pistachio is available now at M&S stores across the UK for £8.50.

The £30 Ozempic swimsuit that takes 10lbs off your tummy – here one woman tries it
Can one swimsuit really help you drop a dress size? TikTok users think they've found one which does just that... SWIM WIN The £30 Ozempic swimsuit that takes 10lbs off your tummy – here one woman tries it Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IF the thought of wriggling back into your swimsuit fills you with dread, you're far from alone. According to new research from lingerie and swimwear brand Pour Moi, only seven per cent of women feel fully fabulous stepping out in their cossies. Just seven. 5 I recruited size 14, mum-of-one Michelle Court to test out this miracle swimsuit (pictured in her normal swimsuit) Credit: David Cummings 5 Available for £27.99 on Amazon in six different colours, the cossie completely showcased Michelle's figure Credit: David Cummings The rest of us? We're artfully draped in sarongs, in tent shaped cover-ups or doing that frantic towel dance by the pool in a bid to stay incognito. Because let's be honest, hauling last summer's swimwear from the bottom drawer rarely feels good. That magical tummy control? Stretched beyond salvation. The 'statement colour'? More like a fading memory, now tinged with SPF smears and fake tan mishaps. Then comes the dreaded try-on. You catch a glimpse in the mirror and bam - any flicker of body confidence evaporates faster than your iced rosé in a midday heatwave. But here's the thing, it's not just you. We've all had the mirror moment. We've all sworn under our breath in badly lit changing rooms. And we've all wished, more than once, that swimwear came with built-in courage. But those dreams could become a reality. Whilst on the search for swimwear this year, I turned my attention to TikTok which, like it or not, is a good barometer for consumer style reviews. The first one I stumbled-scrolled upon was a brand called Cupshe. A top selling American swimwear brand that does ship to the UK and is available on Amazon. So far, so good. Primark drops brand new collection of bikinis in gingham, floral and colour block designs - and they'll set you back just £2.50 per piece Cupshe is a brand that on the surface sounds like every other swimwear brand with words like 'empower', 'inspire' and 'support'. But the brand's Slim & Sculpt swimsuit caught my eye. A viral clip racking up millions of views featuring three women, all different in shapes and sizes, slip into the same figure-loving cossie. The secret? A corset-style lace-up back that cinches in all the right places, giving each of them an envy-inducing hourglass shape. In the comments section one fan of the swimwear gushed: 'These make you feel SO confident – and that speaks volumes!' Another said: 'Just got mine and I can't believe how good it looks.' I'm immediately sold - but I need to see it in the flesh. Available for £27.99 on Amazon in six different colours, I recruited size 14, make-up artist and mum-of-one Michelle Court, 41, from Rochford, Essex, to test out this miracle swimsuit. 'Every time it comes to going on holiday I get a new cossie,' says Michelle. 'I used to be a bikini Queen and never think of pulling on a one-piece, but after a baby my confidence to show off my body has dwindled. 'These days I love a swimsuit for holding everything in. 'When I'm looking for my new holiday swimsuit I always try to hunt for one with a really good shape that flatters my figure, doesn't dig in too much and one that keeps everything in its place.' Medium is the corresponding Cupshe size for Michelle's UK dress size but out of the packet, the cossie looks rather small. We both agree it might be a struggle to get it on. But two minutes later Michelle is out of the dressing room in the red lycra number and looks like she's ready to run in slow motion down the beach. So far, so Baywatch. 5 The secret? A corset-style lace-up back that cinches in all the right places Credit: David Cummings 5 Michelle felt like the Special K lady Credit: David Cummings 5 Cupshe is a top-selling American swimwear brand - and is popular on TikTok Credit: tiktok@ 'I look like the Special K Lady,' says Michelle. 'It's like I've been on weight loss injections!' She was right, this swimsuit completely showcased her figure - and not a fat jab in sight. I was dubious as to whether swimwear can really be that transformative but from seeing Michelle in a thousand-wash beige costume that had zero bust support or elasticity, the change was undeniable. She said: 'It really does hold you in, like, cinches in everywhere - not like that old one from the loft.' 'Its got amazing bust support, it feels like someone has just come in behind me and lifted me - and lifted everything. 'I feel way more confident than I do in my usual costumes.' Made from 92 per cent polyester and 8 per cent Spandex the swimming costume does the nipping and tucking with its fabric, but the real magic comes from the corsetry at the back. You can tie it as loosely or as tight as you like to take inches off your waist and it really, really works. And at the back the suit also gives great bum coverage, unlike many high street swimsuits that are barely bigger than a thong at the back. Michelle said: 'Honestly, I love it. It's a 10/10 swimsuit… Can I take it home?'

Gamer shares the one thing you need to do after buying Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo released its Switch 2 console in the UK this week and a gaming expert has expressed the importance of completing one particular task first before playing any games The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 sparked a shopping frenzy amongst avid gamers at midnight on Thursday (June 5) with the new console rapidly selling out across the country. With launch titles including Mario Kart World and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans couldn't wait to plug in and play. One gaming expert has warned that there is a task you should complete first before getting down to playing, however, given the hugely-anticipated device's hefty £395.99 price tag. Dylan Czeh, who provides gaming advice via his YouTube channel, Dyllie', took to TikTok to reveal: "If you just got a Nintendo Switch 2, this is the first thing you need to do." On firing the console up, Dylan said you'll receive prompt giving you the option to transfer your data from your original Switch to the Switch 2. "If you have the Switch 1, you need to start the system transfer now," he explained. "Because if you press 'Don't Transfer', it's not going to give you the option later." The transfer isn't simple, however, and speaking from experience, Dylan went on to point out that you will require an Express microSD card to do so. "Don't forget to get this, you're going to need it too," he continued. The expert closed by illustrating his point further, showing that by clicking 'Don't Transfer' you will receive a dialogue box warning that you won't be able to transfer data in future. Following the advice, one TikTok user penned in response: "I've spent three hours transferring everything over, moving key cards, setting the Switch 2 as the primary console, downloading updates, and Switch 2 upgrades, and making sure my saved data transferred successfully. I'm finally finishing with downloading Mario Kart World then I'm done." However, a second fumed: "And this is one of the many reasons I'm not buying the second one and just using my normal Switch." Whilst a third said: "I didn't do it because it would take a lot of space for the SD Card. So I made the right choice." Attempting to entice customers into making a purchase, Nintendo shared a list of improvements the Switch 2 possesses. A press release on Thursday read: "Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the foundations of the Nintendo Switch system, and delivers a multitude of new features and enhancements, including: New social capabilities with the built-in mic and the new online feature GameChat, where up to 12 friends and family can play games and talk like they're all in the same room, even when they're miles apart. You can also video chat with up to four people if you connect a compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (sold separately). Powerful CPU and GPU capable of enhanced visuals and performance. A large 7.9-inch built-in LCD screen that displays in full HD at 1080p. Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach to the system. New mouse controls are also possible by sliding them across surfaces, such as a tabletop or even your lap in compatible games. 256 GB storage capacity – 8 times that of Nintendo Switch (a portion of which is reserved for use by the system). USB-C ports on the top and bottom of the system, and a freely adjustable stand for playing and charging in tabletop mode. Crisp audio quality and spatial 3D sound in handheld and tabletop modes. A new dock that enables the Nintendo Switch 2 to output video at up to 4K resolution or play games at up to 120 fps in supported games on compatible displays or TVs. Variable refresh rate (VRR) technology, available in handheld mode, helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.
