Ex-McKinsey partner jailed for destroying documents

New York | A former senior partner at McKinsey was sentenced to six months in prison on Thursday (Friday AEST) for destroying records that shed light on the firm's role in the United States' opioid crisis.
The partner, Martin Elling, had pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice as part of a federal case against the firm and its efforts to 'turbocharge' sales of OxyContin during an overdose epidemic that had already killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Washington | Police said a male suspect was taken into custody on Sunday (Monday AEST) after an attack that left multiple people with burns in Boulder, Colorado, in what the FBI director described as a 'targeted' act of terror. Information on the attack, which occurred near a demonstration to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza, was 'very preliminary', Boulder Police chief Stephen Redfearn said. But he noted the man was apprehended following calls to police dispatch of someone with a weapon who was 'setting people on fire'.
