Ange Postecolgou sent Scotland World Cup SOS as Chris Sutton produces a Hotline first from Rangers fans
Scotland are not much use in friendlies and it looks like Steve Clarke is fast running out of pals in the Tartan Army.
Fans hot the Hotline calling for the manager to go in the wake of Friday night's Iceland shocker – and they already know who they want next.

It's former Celtic recently punted Spurs boss Ange Postecgolou they want rescue the national side's fortunes.

Rick Hart emailed: "Surely to heavens we cannot allow this man to take Scotland into the World Cup. He is a dinosaur who picks the wrong team every time, has no passion and just going through the motions to get his wages.
'We need a young dynamic manager who will kick all these so called players off the team. I for one will not watch another match while Clarke is in charge, he is making us into a laughing stock.'

Lewis McMeekin emailed: 'I'm sorry but Stevie has to go. Same old tactics and it doesn't matter who play play, nothing is different. Every country in the world plays young talent but not us. Man up Stevie, please leave and give us a chance.'
Dr Robert S Pender, via email, said: 'The performance last night was down to the manager. His tactics were miles off. We have players playing at top level but put into the hands of Clarke they don't perform. The message is simple – a change of manager ASAP.'
Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: 'Surely Clarke has taken Scotland to depths below the abyss and he must go now.'
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: "Steve Clarke needs to go and the SFA need to go for Big Ange Postecoglou. He is the man to restore our national team.'

David Clark, Glasgow, said: 'Rangers fan here, I think the next man Scotland should be looking at is big Ange. Some fresh ideas needed in that squad, would suit Postecoglou with his age and experience. Clarke's time is surely up now, same old rinse and repeat.'

Record Sport's Chris Sutton hit out at Rangers fans' reaction to Russell Martin getting the head coach gig.
And Forbes McGarv, Doncaster, said: 'Well this must be a first, I agree with Chris Sutton. We have appointed Russell Martin and I have never seen so many negative comments.
'Give the guy a chance. We were never going to get a manager like Mourinho or Benitez and personally I am not sure I would have wanted either.

'My preference would have been Barry Ferguson and his backrooms team. That didn't happen so I will give Russell Martin my 100 percent backing.'
But Philip Borland emailed: 'Can you please tell Sutton us Rangers fans are not deluded. The only reason Russell Martin got the job is because the cheapskates at Ibrox didn't want to put their hands in their pockets and pay over the top for someone else. I want Martin to prove me wrong but I don't rate him as a manager.'
Fraser Davidson, Glasgow, said: 'The new owners are just in the door with new 'manager' and stating a new approach by buying players with development and sell on value. Yet first port of call is 32-year-old Conor Coady with zero sell on value and best days behind him! Groundhog days at Ibrox as usual.'
And Liam Birney, Paisley, said: 'You have to laugh at the misplaced optimism of some of the Bluenose contributors on the Hotline.
'Do they not realise they are up against an elite manager who missed just out on another Treble on penalties, a club that if on a different financial planet and awarded the Best Run Club in the UK by the Fair Game Index? Dream on guys, but keep on supporting Next Season FC!'

Former Marseille boss leading candidate for Italy coaching vacancy
Former Olympique de Marseille manager Gennaro Gattuso is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Italy, with journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that an agreement could be reached in the coming days. The man who helped the Italians win the World Cup in 2006 over France recently left his role as manager of Croatian club Hadjuk Split earlier this month. In 2023-24 Gattuso served as manager of Marseille but was sacked after just five months on the job, winning nine of his 24 matches at the helm of the French side. Advertisement Former AS Monaco and FC Nantes coach Claudio Ranieri was approached to take over from Luciano Spalletti, who was dismissed earlier this month, but declined. Italy have three points from two group matches in 2026 World Cup qualifying, currently outside of the play-off positions. As a manager, Gattuso led Napoli to the Coppa Italia in 2019-20, winning that trophy once as a player along with two Serie A crowns and a pair of UEFA Champions League titles as well. Gattuso officially retired from the national team at the end of their 2010 World Cup campaign, with his side losing 3-2 to Slovakia and exiting in the group phase of that tournament for the first time since 1974. Italy appoint Gennaro Gattuso as new manager
The Italy National Team have replaced Luciano Spalletti with Gennaro Gattuso as the new manager. An update from Fabrizio Romano confirmed the managerial agreement between Gennaro Gattuso and the Italian National Team representatives. The former World Cup champion with the Azzurri is set to be appointed at the helm of the side to lead them at the next biggest tournament in football. Advertisement Spalletti became certain of his departure during the World Cup qualifiers, and he was practically out of the team when Italy played against Moldova. A statement by Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon verified the reports as he said, 'Gattuso has become the new Italy coach, we made the best possible decision.' Gattuso was a key player of the 2006 Italy National Team, which won the World Cup in Germany under manager Marcello Lippi. He formed an impeccable partnership with Andrea Pirlo in the midfield, and it was crucial to earn the Azzurri their fourth star on their crest. Trambak Bhattacherjee | GIFN
