Nana Patekar made his film debut in 1978 with the Hindi film Gaman. Although the movie wasn't a blockbuster, it gave Nana the recognition he needed to break into the industry.

According to sources, Rajamouli himself traveled from Hyderabad to meet Nana at his farmhouse in Pune, personally narrating the script to him. The role was that of Mahesh Babu's father—Mahesh being the lead actor in the film.
Despite the interesting character, Nana declined the role. Reports suggest that he was not impressed with the part and therefore chose not to be a part of the film.
Meanwhile, as for SSMB29, the movie is also reportedly set to feature Priyanka Chopra, among others. Further details about the film are still awaited.
