Soccer Player Andrej Lazarov Dead at 25 After Reportedly Trying to Save Lives in Fatal Fire
Professional soccer player Andrej Lazarov was among more than 50 people who died Sunday, March 16, in a fire at the Pulse club in Kočani in North Macedonia. He was 25.
Lazarov's club FC Shkupi confirmed the news on the team's official Facebook page.
The young athlete 'lost his life trying to help others escape the fire-stricken space,' the club wrote of his passing. 'He suffocated from smoke during his attempts to save lives, showing courage and humanity until the very last moment. His heroic act will forever remain in our memory, as a testament to his noble character and his big heart.'
The club also described Lazarov's untimely passing as a 'huge loss' for the team. 'Words are small to describe the pain we are feeling right now, in this tragedy — one of the biggest hit by our club in its history,' the post read.

North Macedonia's Interior Minister, Panche Toshkovskithe, stated that the fire began around 3:00 a.m. local time during a press conference on Sunday. At least 59 people have died and more than 155 were injured in the blaze, according to Toshkkovskithe.
The Associated Press reported that the fire was likely caused after pyrotechnics on stage hit the ceiling during the band DNK's set. 'We even tried to get out through the bathroom, only to find bars (on the windows),' Marija Taseva, who was at the event, told the AP. 'I somehow managed to get out. I fell down the stairs and they ran over me, trampled me. ... I barely stayed alive and could hardly breathe.'
The blaze also caused the roof of the building to partially collapse. Authorities have since blocked off the site. An account on X called The Informant also reported that 27 of the injured were treated at Skopje City Hospital, while 23 others were treated at the city's Clinical Center. 'Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski called it a tragic day, urging support for the victims and their families,' the account noted.
Toshkovskithe also said 15 people have been detained for questioning after authorities found out the club was operating without the proper license. 'We have grounds for suspicion that there is bribery and corruption in this case,' he also said.

Ukrainian attack causes blackouts in Russian-occupied territories, Moscow's proxies claim
A Ukrainian drone attack targeting energy infrastructure in Russian-occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts overnight on June 3 caused widespread blackouts, according to Russian occupation authorities. Yevhen Balytskyi, the Kremlin-appointed head of the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, claimed that 457 settlements in the region were left without power, affecting more than 600,000 homes. In neighboring Kherson Oblast, Moscow-installed proxy Volodymyr Saldo claimed that drone debris damaged substations near occupied Henichesk, as well as near Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, resulting in power outages across 150 settlements. Ukrainian officials have not commented on the claims, which could not be independently verified. Kyiv's previous attacks on substations in Russia and Russian-occupied territories were aimed at undermining Moscow's ability to sustain its war effort. Situated in southern Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts have been partially occupied since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. The regions' centers, the cities of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, remain under Ukrainian control and are frequently targeted by Russian forces. A Russian FPV (first-person-view) drone attack targeted first responders near Vasylivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, injuring at least 12 people, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported. Woolworths shopper's checkout meltdown over 'free' fruit: 'Don't have food at home'
Footage of a Woolworths shopper's six-minute 'meltdown' after she was accused of stealing free fruit offered to children has made waves online. The woman was leaving the store in Melbourne's southeast when she was stopped by a staff member and quizzed about a banana and apple that she failed to pay for. In the now viral TikTok posted on Monday, the customer can be heard screaming at the female worker, admitting she took the produce from the 'Free Fruit for Kids' display because she is struggling financially. 'All I wanted is this free f*****g banana that you give out to kids,' she shrieks. 'Why would you take the free food away from me when you know it's hard? It's a f***ing, free banana, what are you on about? I don't have food at home.' Following her emotional outburst, the staff member said the fruit was only free for children, but everyone else needs to pay. However, the interaction only continued to escalate, with the Russian shopper accusing the Woolies worker of telling her to 'go back to her home country and work harder'. 'You can't treat people like that,' the customer yells, while demanding an apology several times. The employee, who said she is also a refugee, repeatedly denies ever making such a statement and declares she's going to call the police. 'I have been trying to help you but when you're crying like this and yelling, and you have been abusing my team for a long time, it's been an hour,' the worker said. 🍎 Woolworths customers spark debate over brazen fruit act 💰 Woolworths responds to glaring pricing issue 👩 Aussie mum's sad supermarket confession: 'Do anything for my children' When a security guard intervenes, the shopper tells him Woolies produce staff told her she could take the apple and banana as long as she informs employees at the check-out that she is doing so because she is 'struggling'. Despite the customer's claims that she paid for the rest of her items, the worker said the woman appeared to have a lot more than the two pieces of fruit in her bag. The clip ends with the shopper once again asking the employee to apologise for her alleged comment, to which she says 'ok, I'm sorry lovely about that'. 'I'm so glad to have gotten an apology from her because saying that to someone just because they wanted a free fruit from kids section is not OK,' the shopper captioned the video, which has now been viewed almost 300,000 times.
