Traffic on I-71 at standstill as Sonic Temple kicks off first day
Traffic along Interstate 71 is significantly congested as music fans make their way to the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival.
Ohio Department of Transportation traffic cameras show traffic delays as attendees make their way to Historic Crew Stadium for the four-day concert.
The ODOT traffic map shows a red line from I-71 near Downtown all the way up to I-71 at Cleveland Avenue as concert attendees attempt to make their way northbound to the stadium.
Dispatch photographer Adam Cairns captured the traffic standstill near the 17th Street exit on I-71 northbound. The right lane was completely stopped for at least a mile north of the fairgrounds, according to Cairns.
Cairns also reported that some rideshare users were ditching their rides in the traffic standstill, choosing to walk the rest of the way to the stadium.
The concert is scheduled for May 8-11 at the Historic Crew Stadium. Several well-known bands like Metallica, Linkin Park, Korn and Rob Zombie will be performing at the festival.

Black Sabbath's hometown gig to be streamed worldwide
Ozzy Osbourne's final ever gig as Black Sabbath's frontman will be streamed worldwide after fans snapped up tickets for the hometown show, starring the original line-up, in just 16 minutes, the band said Friday. Osbourne, who revealed in 2020 that he has Parkinson's disease, will join Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the all-day "Back To The Beginning" show in Birmingham, central England, where the heavy metal giants formed in 1968. The July 5 gig at Aston Villa Football Club's Villa Park stadium will also feature sets by US rockers Metallica, Guns N'Roses, Tool and Slayer among others, as well as a short solo set by Osbourne. It will be the original line-up's first show together in 20 years and Osbourne's swansong. "With the concert ... selling out in under 16 minutes, those who missed out on being there in person can immerse themselves in what is set to be the greatest heavy metal show ever," the band said Friday. Fans were able to buy live-stream tickets from 3:00 pm (1400 GMT) on Friday for £24.99 (about 30 euros), allowing them to watch the concert live, although with a two-hour delay from the start in the arena, and continue to view it for another 48 hours. "We had such an overwhelming demand from fans from around the globe, who couldn't get tickets to the show, and they took to social media, pleading with us to broadcast a live-stream of the show," said Osbourne's wife Sharon. "Being this is such a historic event, we just couldn't let them down." Black Sabbath have sold over 75 million albums worldwide and are widely recognised as one of the pioneers of heavy metal music. All profits from the show will go to charities including Cure Parkinson's and Birmingham Children's Hospital. Osbourne's diagnosis led to him pausing touring. But Sharon told the BBC the Villa Park gig would be his last. "This is his full stop," she was quoted as saying. jwp/jkb/giv

Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Have Good News Ahead Of Final Show
Can't make it to Birmingham to see Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's final performance? No problem. With Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, and Bill Ward on drums, Black Sabbath became synonymous with heavy metal in the 1970s, with albums like Paranoid, Master of Reality, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. And when the band fired Ozzy in 1979, the singer launched a successful solo career (while the band released some good albums with Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan and more). And on July 5, those legendary careers come to a close with "Back to the Beginning," a massive event culminating in the final Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath performances ever. The lineup for the event features performances by Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Gojira, Mastodon, Alice In Chains and more. There will also be a "supergroup of musicians," including such stars as K.K. Downing of Judas Priest/KK Priest, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Wolfgang Van Halen, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. And you can watch it from the comfort of your home! While some fans will make the trek to Villa Park in Birmingham, England, to experience the show in person, the official Back To The Beginning website announced that you can watch the global all-day livestream. Access to the livestream will cost $29.99. You can also bundle the live stream with an exclusive "Back to the Beginning" t-shirt. The site notes that for Ozzy fans around the world to "experience this monumental event, the livestream will be delayed 2 hours from the in-arena start time. The stream will begin: 3:00 pm BST, 10:00 am EDT, 7:00 am PDT." Ozzy, who has battled health issues and Parkinson's Disease over the years, promises to give it "120%" in this final show. Metallica's Self-Titled Album Reaches An Incredible Milestone
It's a big week for Metallica on the charts in the United Kingdom. The hard rock group is one of several acts from that side of the music business that maintains a constant presence on at least one or two tallies at a time, but this period is especially thrilling for the band, as Metallica returns to multiple rankings with both albums and songs. What may be regarded as perhaps its most successful full-length — at least when looking at commercial metrics — reaches an incredible milestone as it reappears. Metallica's self-titled album is a bestselling release again this week in the U.K. The decades-old set reappears on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, landing at No. 37. As it returns, Metallica hits an incredible landmark figure. As of this frame, the full-length has spent 1,000 weeks as one of the top 40 bestselling rock releases in the country. Metallica is the first release by the band of the same name to reach a four-digit-stay count on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. Only one other project by the group, Master of Puppets, has cracked triple digits, as it has thus far accrued 144 weeks on the tally. Metallica has even managed more weeks on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart than all of the band's other efforts combined. As the self-titled project reaches 1,000 weeks on the tally, it joins just three other projects that are currently present on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart that have accomplished the same showing. Nirvana's Nevermind leads the ranking with 1,453 stays. Guns N' Roses have kept Appetite for Destruction on the list for 1,222 periods, while Linkin Park's debut full-length Hybrid Theory recently joined this group, and is now up to 1,032 turns on the roster. Metallica only scores one hit album in the U.K. this week, but a pair of successful tunes help the band make itself heard. "Enter Sandman" returns to the top 10 on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, pushing from No. 13 to No. 7. The group doubles up on the tally, as "Nothing Else Matters" reappears in last place at No. 40.
