'I was huge star in 2000s now no one recognises me after massive transformation'

Ethan Suplee was a regular fixture in TV shows and films during the 90s and early 2000s but the actor was often type-cast in roles that were dictated by his weight
Hollywood stars are often typecast in certain roles based on their physical appearance, but one well-known sitcom actor decided he'd had enough of being stereotyped as the "fat guy". He subsequently embarked on an incredible transformation, shedding nearly 20 stone in the process.
Ethan Suplee, a familiar face in popular sitcoms from the early 2000s such as Boy Meets World, My Name Is Earl, and Remember the Titans, made the bold decision to turn his life around.

Back in 2001, Suplee struggled with a damaging relationship with food, leading to a constant weight gain. At the age of 24, he checked into a rehab centre for addiction, only to discover that the facility's standard scales couldn't accommodate his size.

Instead, he had to use a freight scale at a shipping centre, which revealed a startling weight of around 536 pounds (approximately 37 stone). This excessive weight put him at risk of congestive heart failure.
Ironically, Suplee gained another 14 pounds during his recovery from substance addiction. In an interview with Today, he admitted: "I'd eat and eat. It's what I'd always done.", reports the Irish Star.
Reflecting on the root of his unhealthy habits, Suplee attributed it to his grandparents' well-intentioned but restrictive diet: "It was coming from a place of love and concern, but it had this terrible reverse effect where I was like, 'OK. I'm just gonna sneak food whenever I possibly can.' And that became my habit. I would binge when nobody was looking."
This quickly became a problem with the vast catering of film and TV sets: "I'd fill my pockets and go back to my trailer. Then I'd hit a drive-thru and buy enough food to feed a small family and sit in my house alone and eat it."
But following an extraordinary transformation, the actor has revamped his eating habits and lifestyle, dropping an astonishing 300 pounds along the way.

Despite having experimented with various restrictive diets in the past and observing some success, he always found himself regaining the weight. His turning point came in 2018 when he stumbled upon a TED Talk by Mike Isratel, which suggested that carbs might not be the culprit but rather his overall relationship with food.
Starting with calorie counting, he adjusted his intake to create a slight caloric deficit tailored to his body's needs.

Moreover, he switched to more nutritious options such as vegetables, chicken, and salmon, ensuring he could satiate his hunger without consuming excessive calories.
He explained: "As I became more calorie conscious, I started to binge less and fill up on healthier foods. After a few months of this, calories stopped being calories. They started being food."
Currently a grandfather and father to four daughters, the prospect of a long future with his family was a key motivator for his weight loss journey. In a heart-to-heart with Mail Online, Suplee said: "I wanted to have this long life with my girlfriend that I knew was impossible if I didn't do something about my weight.
"She liked to go to the beach, and I did not like to go to the beach. She liked to go to museums, she liked to go hiking. She liked to go on walks just to enjoy the walk, and I couldn't do any of that stuff with her.
"Now she never asked me to [lose weight], but I knew that in the long term, our relationship would not survive if I didn't confront this."

Tom Felton returning as Draco Malfoy for ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway

Tom Felton is reprising his role as Draco Malfoy — this time on Broadway. The actor announced exclusively on TODAY that he will be returning as the beloved villain of the 'Harry Potter' series in the Broadway production, 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,' for 19 weeks starting in November. 'It's very much a pinch-me situation,' Felton told Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin on June 5. 'I keep thinking I'm dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now I get to step back into his shoes, as a father this time, in a new story.' Felton, 37, will become the first member of the original film cast to join the Broadway show, which takes place 19 years after the end of the original series, as Draco, Harry, Ron and Hermione are sending their own children off to Hogwarts. ''Potter' was a massive chunk of my childhood, and now I get to sort of go back whilst also going forward,' Felton later told 'The play is such an independent story from the 'Potter' films that I grew up with. We start 19 years later ... now we're no longer children. We actually are the parents. So as much as it is reprising an old role for me, it's very much treading into new, unfamiliar territory. I know him quite well as a kid. I don't know him that well as an adult. So that's the that's the exciting challenge ahead for me.' The reprisal of the role marks the first time Felton will portray Draco in nearly 15 years, and is also Felton's Broadway debut. 'It's very, very easy to get emotional,' Felton said. 'When they put my blond wig on for the theater production, I just immediately cried. It was just sort of like a blast from the past. ... It was something that I never thought I'd see again.' Felton is set to star in the show Nov. 11, 2025, to March 22, 2026, at the Lyric Theatre in New York City. Fans can sign up for first access to tickets which will unlock entry to a presale that begins on June 10 at 11 a.m. ET. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on June 12 at 11 a.m. ET. 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,' the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, has sold more than 10 million tickets worldwide since its premiere in London in 2016. It is the fourth longest-running Broadway play ever and has productions running currently in London, New York, Hamburg and Tokyo. Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, producers behind the Broadway production, said in a statement that they can't wait to see Felton portray the role 'once again with the same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco.' 'It's not lost on us that this is a cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion,' Friedman and Callender said. 'Tom's return to Hogwarts bridges generations of fans and breathes new life into a beloved story. We're beyond thrilled to welcome Tom back 'home' but also into a new family: our Broadway company.' A renewed 'Harry Potter' craze is only beginning on Broadway, as HBO announced it would be adapting J.K. Rowling's books into a television series earlier this year. After casting directors watched tens of thousands of children audition, Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout were chosen to play Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.

During the set, Perry invited a young fan called Tiana on stage, with the little girl admitting she was missing out on studying for an exam to attend the show. Katy Perry shared a sweet moment with a young fan at her Sydney show on Wednesday night. During the set, Perry invited a young fan called Tiana on stage, with the little girl admitting she was missing out on studying for an exam to attend the show 'I know she's about to take this exam for English and we just wanna say that we might be a little bit tired because we were on the stage last night' she continued. 'So if you could just be a little kind, this is an exception. Please Miss Eunice, have some kindness for us!' Tiana appeared on the Today show the following day where she relayed her excitement about the special interaction. 'In the moment [I was in] a state of shock... I was trying to pinch myself. I didn't like what was going on' she said. 'She was just talking with us, we were giving her our names. And then I mentioned that I have an English exam tomorrow that I'm actually supposed to be studying for, but instead I'm here supporting Katy Perry. 'I get to skip my exam because Katy Perry said so.' At the same show, Katy also shared a touching moment with her fans when she invited a group of young admirers on stage to sing Thinking Of You with her. Alongside the delighted fans was one boy in a shark costume, a callback to Katy's viral Left Shark moment, which involved a 'shark' dancing at Perry's Super Bowl halftime show in 2015. The global Lifetimes tour - which has been the subject of mockery and memes online - went off without a hitch on Wednesday. At one stage, Perry knelt down at the front of the stage to thank a fan for 'waiting for five hours' to secure a spot at the front of the arena. Katy stunned in an array of outfits throughout the set, which revisits hits throughout her career. She donned a futuristic leotard and thigh high boots at one stage, before changing into a red look with silver boots. The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker has been out and about in Sydney since touching down this week. On Wednesday, she posted a video on Instagram showing her feeding a tiger at Sydney Zoo in the middle of the night. In the clip, the 40-year-old sported a brown shirt and matching brown hat as she balanced a piece of steak on her hand and pushed it against the chain-link fence. 'Oh my gosh I've never had a tiger lick my hand,' she said as she fed the large cat. 'Great way to beat jet lag,' she could be heard saying, before revealing she had just come off a 14-hour flight. The popstar is performing three shows in Sydney, bringing all of her iconic hits as well as some of her new tracks from her latest album 143, to Qudos Bank Arena on June 4, 9 and 10. Tickets to the pop icon's tour, which has received an onslaught of criticism over the last few months, have been in high demand, with the Roar hitmaker announcing two extra shows on the Australian run to accommodate all of her fans. Taking to Instagram in February, Katy revealed that she added an extra show at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on June 4 to kick off the Australian leg, as well as an extra Melbourne show at Rod Laver Arena on June 7. The Grammy-nominated superstar revealed that she had been humbled with the success of her Australian tour, with all previous dates now sold out. Captioning the announcement, Katy said: 'I am so blown away by the incredible demand for THE LIFETIMES TOUR that I will be adding a final show in Sydney and a final show in Melbourne to make sure all my Australian fans have a chance to experience the incredible show I am bringing.' Katy will now play a hefty 15 Australian shows. The pop star announced the Australian Lifetimes tour just prior to her turn at the AFL Grand Final in September. The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker posted a video on Instagram showing her feeding a tiger at Sydney Zoo in the middle of the night The original run included just one show each for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, however fan demand dictated Katy needed to add two extra Sydney and Brisbane shows. Crestfallen Adelaide fans issued their sorrow over missing out on their chance to see Katy in the flesh but they were not left out in the cold for too long. Listening to fan protests, Katy eventually added a run of four shows in the City of Churches. 'I heard you loud and clear Adelaide, I got you!' Katy wrote on Instagram. Extra shows were also added to Melbourne and Perth as demand for the Teenage Dream hitmaker continued to rise.
