A LABOURER is telling us about the moment he was nearly hit with a glass bottle as violence erupted before the Scottish Premiership play-off final.
Kenan Widdows, 24, was walking through the usually quiet town of Dingwall, when he came across a large group of youths near the train station.

It was ahead of the second-leg clash between Ross County and Livingston, and came after a spitting incident in the first leg.
At first, Kenan said it was fairly jovial as fans congregated ahead of Monday's big game.
But then "chaos ensued" and he thinks around 100 youths started squaring up.
Kenan, from Invergordon, says it quickly got nasty as other innocent by-standers got caught up in the melee.
He told SunSport: "There were boys that were smacked over the head with flagpoles.
"There were glass bottles being thrown - one just went right over my head and smashed at my feet.
"I was a bit shocked, and relieved it didn't hit me.
"It could have cracked my head open if it had.
"There were a few people trying to stop it, but they couldn't get through to the young ones fighting.
"They are lucky no one was hurt, with bottles being thrown and glass being smashed.
"It was careless, they had no consideration for anyone around them."

Kenan was so stunned by the scenes unfolding in front of him, he had to get his phone out to capture the carnage.
He says the video has gone viral with almost a million views on TikTok.
But the former World and European champion piper says he would have acted differently if his young son had been by his side, and is relieved he wasn't.
He said: "I was half expecting to be swung at, but I think all the youths made the wise decision not to do that!
"It was quite intense. It was very violent initially and then it simmered down after a few minutes.
"It was mental to see it.
"There was one boy who took a good whack to the head. I found him afterwards and made sure he was okay.
"Boys from both sides of the fight were really lucky nobody was hurt considering the weapons being used and glass bottles being thrown.
"I'm very lucky my son wasn't there, obviously, if he was I wouldn't have been anywhere near it.
"I'm in Dingwall quite frequently and it's not something I've seen before, it's not something that happens.
"I do feel like the travelling fans were instigating it - they were the only ones that had weapons, the Ross County fans were using their fists.
"It was just a bit chaotic for a Monday evening!"
Police Scotland confirmed to the Scottish Sun that they were aware of the incident.
A police spokesperson said: 'Around 8.10pm on Monday, 26 May, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance on High Street, Dingwall.
'The group dispersed, and no injuries were reported.
'Enquiries are ongoing.'

Matheus Cunha to Man Utd transfer confirmed with £62.5m release clause triggered

Manchester United have completed the signing of Matheus Cunha. United will pay Wolves £62.5million for the Brazilian after triggering the release clause in his contract. Cunha becomes the Red Devils' first signing of a crucial summer transfer window, subject to his visa and registration. The Brazil star is now to head on international duty but was pictured in Manchester on Sunday morning. Upon announcing the deal, United said: "Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford." Cunha's former club meanwhile expressed their gratitude for the forward's time at the club. "Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Matheus for his contributions in old gold and wish he and his family the best of luck for the future," a statement read. Boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to improve his squad after seeing his side finish a dire 15th in the Premier League table. United missed out on qualification for European football having also failed to win a single trophy under the 40-year-old's management. Amorim has prioritised boosting his attacking options this summer, following a dreadful campaign in front of goal. The Red Devils ended up as the fifth-lowest scorers in the top-flight, with Amorim struggling to unlock his side's attack. Cunha will come in as one of the two No.10s in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system. The 26-year-old starred in Wolves' successful battle to beat relegation to the Championship. He scored 17 goals and add six assists to earn Wolves' Players' Player of the Season award. Cunha himself has already made his happiness at his move north clear. The attacker has hailed his new manager Amorim and backed him to succeed at United despite his difficult start. "Talking about him is easy, I think he's a great coach and I wish him nothing but the best," Cunha told CNN Brasil via Daily Mail. "I hope he conquers the world as he did Portugal." Asked if they could do that together, he added: "Well, God willing, we'll always do our best to help." According to The Athletic, United first offered to pay Cunha's release clause in five instalments. This suggestion was flatly rejected by Wolves, with the Red Devils now agreeing to meet the full terms of the Midlands club's demands. Cunha joined Wolves from RB Leipzig on loan in January 2023 before completing a permanent move for £43m that summer. He previously played for Atletico Madrid, Hertha Berlin and FC Sion, and has been capped 13 times by Brazil. The attacker will be with his new club for the start of pre-season training in July. The move for Cunha has already been backed by legendary United skipper Gary Neville. "Man United are desperate in that position," he told Sky Sports. "You think of what Manchester United are playing now, they've let Jadon Sancho go, they've let (Marcus) Rashford go, they've let Antony go, so three players who are natural players who travel with the ball. "They need someone who can beat players, they need someone who's equally as good running through the middle with the ball and travelling with the ball, and go out wide and support the wing-back. "So he's [Cunha] a type of player that you could see Manchester United being interested in, that would suit this system that Ruben Amorim wants to play."

Rio Ferdinand's life now with luxury move abroad, famous wife and 'health scare'

More info Rio Ferdinand has hung up his hat as a pundit on TNT Sports after the Champions League final, closing a chapter of ten years with the broadcaster. Despite being offered a fresh contract months ago, the ex-Manchester United and England star chose not to renew, earlier announcing it was a "difficult" decision to leave. In his farewell note reported by Wales Online, Ferdinand extended his thanks for the chance to talk football over the last decade, tipping his hat to the behind-the-scenes crew essential for their triumphs. "I want to acknowledge the tremendous support from the team behind the scenes whose hard work often goes unseen but has been essential to our success. To everyone at TNT Sports, we have a brilliant end to the season to look forward to on Saturday and for now all focus will be on what I think could go down as one of the great European finals," Ferdinand remarked. I know I look forward to following its progress and the exciting future that lies ahead." Ferdinand also took a moment to thank his family and New Era, his management firm, for their steadfast support as he travelled across Europe to follow top-tier players and matches, reports the Manchester Evening News. The 46 year old's decision comes after months of speculation about his potential departure from the broadcaster at the end of the season, with rumours hinting at a move abroad with his wife, Kate. Initial whispers suggested that Ferdinand, who has played for United, West Ham, Leeds, and QPR, might be eyeing opportunities in the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup. However, later reports indicated that he and his wife, a former The Only Way is Essex star, were contemplating a move to Dubai, where they first crossed paths through mutual friends nearly ten years ago. Earlier this year, it was reported that the couple had started looking into properties and schools in Dubai, having decided that the time was right for them and their family to make the move. Ferdinand and his wife share two children, and Kate also plays the role of stepmother to his three children from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2015. While Ferdinand has not publicly announced his next career move, it is thought that a potential relocation to the United Arab Emirates would involve regular travel between the UAE and the UK to meet work commitments. Kate is the founder of the online platform Blended. This news follows a health scare that forced him to miss out on covering key European football matches. Ferdinand was poised to cover Arsenal's Champions League match against PSG and lend his expert insights for United's Europa League semi-final with Athletic Bilbao but was instead hospitalised due to a crippling virus. Speaking candidly on 'Rio Ferdinand Presents', he recounted the harrowing experience that left him in fear for his life, battling severe migraines, vertigo, and extreme vomiting. "I had a mad virus," shared Ferdinand. "I thought lights were out at some point, I thought it was gonna happen. I thought I was minutes away from lights out, seriously." In narrating the terrible incident, he explained, "I was in my house, I was in my bed like this [pained expression] and I couldn't even open my eyes. Then, the headache I had... I don't get migraines or nothing else so I don't know what they're like. I thought my head was in a vice and my eyes were going to pop out. "Then, I was being sick, projectile vomiting in the toilet, I got back to bed and I was having vertigo," he added, "I was holding onto the sheets, I didn't know where I was. It was crazy." The situation took an alarming turn as medical professionals considered a brain scan, following Ferdinand's earlier offer of an ambulance to expedite his journey to the hospital. "I had to go to hospital and the doctor even said to me, 'Do you want an ambulance?' So that's when I knew," he disclosed. "He went, 'We're going to get your brain scanned'. I thought it was a virus or a flu or something so when he mentioned brain scan and the ambulance, the panic was nuts. "I went to hospital and I was in there for a few days. I couldn't even enjoy the hospital food. The soup and the ice cream normally does wonders."

Jamie Carragher drops Celtic Champions League claim that gets Thierry Henry saying 'don't make statements'

PSG started last night in unwelcome company but shattered through the barrier with a 5-0 win over Inter Jamie Carragher predicted there will never be another Champions League winner from smaller nations like Scotland – before Thierry Henry warned him not to make 'statements' that could come back to bite him. PSG annihilated Inter 5-0 to win the trophy last night and, incredibly, it was only the second time a team from France had won the Champions League or European Cup. ‌ Marseille's victory in 1993 had stood alone as the only French success in the competition leaving them trailing well behind the rest of the Big Five nations – with Spain, England, Italy and Germany boasting 55 between them. ‌ Prior to PSG's win they were in unwelcome company as one of four nations with only one to their name. Celtic, famously, are the only Scottish team to win the big one, the famous Lisbon Lions win in 1967 the proudest moment in their history and one that is unlikely to be repeated. Outside of that only Red Star Belgrade from the former Yugoslavia and Steaua Bucharest of Romania can boast bringing home their country's sole European Cup. ‌ The pre-match discussion centred around whether PSG would be able to break France out of that bracked, and Carragher, speaking on CBS Sports, said: 'The big thing when you look at that stats table, France are alongside Scotland, the former Yugoslavia, and Romania. Those three countries, I am quite confident, will never win a Champions League again.' That's when Arsenal legend Henry cut in: "Don't make statements!" But Carragher clarified: 'No, I just don't see that. France produces some of the best footballers in the world. Probably one of the most dominant nations in the world. It's unacceptable that they only have one Champions League winner.' ‌ PSG did in the end win a second Champions League for France, and in some style. Desire Doue was the star of the show with two goals and an assist as Inter struggled to even lay a glove on the dominant French champions, who will be hoping to rack up the European honours in the years ahead and fire France up the medal table.
