Volkswagen Golf GTI first batch sold out, bookings closed
Volkswagen India has announced that they are no longer accepting bookings for the Golf GTI. So, the first batch of hot hatch is sold out. Volkswagen is bringing the Golf GTI to India through the CBU or Completely Built Unit route. The prices are not yet announced, but the booking amount was set to ₹ 2,65,370. Volkswagen clarified that only a limited number of individuals from this list will ultimately be selected to own the GTI.

Suzuki Motorcycle India is offering summer benefits on its 2025 product lineup, including the Access, Avenis, Burgman Street, Gixxer SF and the V-Strom SX. The benefits include cashbacks, exchange offers and much more. Suzuki made the announcement for these discounts over its social media channels. The two-wheeler manufacturer is offering exchange offers of up to ₹ 5,000. Moreover, there is a 10-year warranty worth up to ₹ 2,299 being provided under the umbrella of summer benefits at absolutely no cost. This 10-year warranty plan includes a 2-year standard warranty along with an added 8 years of extended warranty.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2025 CB650R and CBR650R middleweight performance motorcycles in the country. The 2025 Honda CB650R and CBR650R come with the brand's E-Clutch technology, which lets riders shift gears without having to use the clutch lever. The 2025 Honda CB650R is priced at ₹ 9.60 lakh, while the 2025 Honda CBR650R is priced at ₹ 10.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings are now open at Honda Big Wing dealerships for both motorcycles.

Citroen and Jeep have rolled out a service campaign for May 2025. There are offers on service, parts, accessories, and merchandise. The campaign is in effect from 2nd to 31st May 2025. There is also a complimentary vehicle health check-up and exciting rewards with extended warranty purchases. The complimentary summer health check-up ensures vehicles are ready for summer with a complimentary checkup, identifying and addressing any potential issues that could affect performance and safety. Customers can avail of special pricing on labour charges, select genuine parts, accessories, and value-added services designed to suit summer driving needs. Customers can get benefits and expanded coverage options with every extended warranty purchase. Moreover, the brand is offering limited-edition Citroen and Jeep merchandise. Finally, there is a team of factory-trained technicians for these camps.

Volkswagen's SSP will play a crucial role in the automobile group's future product strategy. (AFP) Notify me Remember Volkswagen's Scalable Systems Platform, or SSP, which is a modular electric vehicle architecture? It's been more than four years since the German automaker announced the SSP, the all-encompassing electric vehicle of the OEM. Volkswagen's Scalable Systems Platform was originally expected to be ready by now, but it has been delayed until later this decade. This setback has been attributed to Volkswagen's software division Cariad. However, the auto major is revealing new details of the SSP. While the SSP is primarily an electric vehicle platform, it is also supposed to support internal combustion engines (ICE). But, there is a catch. Volksagen AG plans to introduce ICE to the SSP as a range extender not as a power mill to drive the vehicles. This means the ICE will generate power not to drive the wheels of the EVs underpinned by the SSP, but will function as generators to charge the battery pack onboard. In a nutshell, the ICE will not be mechanically linked to the wheels. Interestingly, Nissan's e-Power technology too follows a similar working principle, where the petrol engine powers the battery pack, not the drivetrain. Volkswagen plans to make SSP a foundation for models across all its brands. Volkswagen had already indicated its interest in range extender technology. The newly launched Scout brand of the company is gearing up to launch a pickup truck and an SUV, which all will come with naturally aspirated ICE generators. SSP to play key role in VW's future product strategy The SSP is a major initiative for Volkswagen as the automaker plans to make this architecture a foundation for models across all its brands. This will eventually replace all the existing EV platforms of the Volkswagen AG. The carmaker is planning to launch at least five different models across different body styles based on the SSP. These vehicles will range from a city hatchback to a large SUV. According to Automotive News report, there will be eight derivatives in total, covering every segment of the market. India's EV policy: Can it deliver?
To encourage global brands to invest under the Scheme, they will be allowed to import Completely Built-in Units (CBUs) of e-4W with a minimum Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of $35,000 at reduced customs duty of 15% for five years from the application approval date. To avail this important benefit of the scheme, manufacturers would be required to make minimum investment of Rs4,150 crore. The maximum number of electric four-wheelers allowed to be imported at the reduced duty rate is capped at 8,000 units per year. The carryover of unutilised annual import limits would be permitted. The maximum benefits from this duty reduction are topped at Rs6,484 crore or the actual investment amount, whichever is lower. Manufacturers are also required to meet certain criteria including the need to achieve an annual turnover of at least Rs2,500 crore by the second year, Rs5,000 crore by the fourth year, and Rs7,500 crore by the fifth year. Additionally, they must reach local value-addition targets of 25% by the third year and 50% by the fifth year. They are also required to be of a certain size. The Global Group's Revenue (from automotive manufacturing) has to be at least Rs10,000 crore and if the applicant is an investment company, the revenue should not be less than Rs3,000 crore. The application widow under the scheme is likely to open soon, and will remain open for 120 days. However, the government can reopen the window as and when required till March 15, 2026. Union heavy industries minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that global players including Mercedes, Volkswagen-Skoda, Hyundai, and Kia have shown interest in applying under the EV policy.
