Davide Ancelotti Rangers hype gets 2 word brutal reminder as Hotline wants BAN on Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
Davide Ancelotti is the only name in town at this moment in time when it comes to Rangers.
But while he comes with an impressive CV of teams as a No2 with the likes of Real Madrid, Napoli and Everton and has a legendary boss for a father in the shape of Carlo Ancelotti - going out on your own is a different story.
And one Hotline punter was quick to look at Manchester United hero and iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson as a prime example.
Sean McGarvey, Cumbernauld, issued a two-word stark warning to the Ibrox faithful: "To all the Rangers fans about to start the same old same old bravado over David Ancelotti, I have two words: Darren Ferguson."
Gordon Ashley, Ayr, added: "With the Davide Ancelotti news now looking like it's not a joke, I would be very worried if I was a Rangers fan, with strict new FSR rules meaning they can only spend what they earn they are relying on these new owners to make better decisions than the last ones as it is going to be a long haul to turn it around. This is a very bad start."
Steven Gerrard has enjoyed previous success in Govan and ended Celtic's ten-in-a-row bid by lifting the Premiership crown as part of an Invincibles campaign. Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, reckons considering Ancelotti over the Liverpool hero would be a 'major gamble'
He said: "Steven Gerrard won the league undefeated and has never denied his love for the club since becoming Rangers manager.
"It took Gerrard three years to win the league and to bring in rookie Ancelotti junior over Gerrard is a huge gamble which Rangers cannot afford to gift Celtic.
"Rangers must hit the ground running and the next manager must have a passion for our club and know the league not someone wanting his first ever football management job. "
Across the city, Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for yet another domestic Treble with Celtic - but he had a personal award to put on the mantlepiece after being named Premiership Manager of the Year.
But incredibly, one Hotline caller wants the Hoops boss BANNED from being in the running.
Neil Renton, Leith, said: "I"d like to congratulate Brendan Rodgers on winning the Manager of the Year award but I'm not going to.
"He should be automatically excluded from such awards due to the resources and finances he has at his disposal. Never mind Brendan Rodgers, Buck Rodgers could manage Celtic to success."
Finally, Derek McInnes looks increasingly likely to be swapping Hearts for Kilmarnock.
Fans from both sides have reacted to the big news - and it is probably a good idea that the former Aberdeen boss doesn't read on.
Frank Jackson emailed,"I just cannot see the reasoning in appointing McInnes. Kilmarnock finished below Hearts, and Hearts were beginning to play a decent game. So why, in God's name, hire a man whose teams play boring long-ball football?"
Tom Paterson, Falkirk said: "Looks like I am about to get.my long held wish and wave goodbye to Del Boy at Killie.
"I DO NOT want Naisy [Steven Naismith] as his replacement - he's just McInnes mark II - boring and defensive.
"I would like to see Killie promote Chris Burke who has done a.fantastic job with the reserve team and the Under-18 youth teams at Killie - taking both to their respective Cup Finals with the exciting youth team winning the Scottish Cup.
"His brand is attacking, entertaining football and it would be a breath of fresh air. Come on. Billy Bowie - take a punt on an ENTERTAINER!!"
The final word goes to Kevin Kean, Inchinnan, who explained: "I must say I don't know why there is so much admiration for Derek McInnes. His CV as a player and manager is far from impressive.
"Hearts' squad is in constant flux and needs stabilising, but I fear it'll be the same this summer. 7 or 8 in and the same amount out ."

Russell Martin appointed Rangers manager on 3 year contract as ex Southampton boss leads 49ers revolution
Martin is the man entrusted by the new Ibrox hierarchy to get Gers challenging again Russell Martin has been appointed as the new manager of Rangers on a three-year deal. Record Sport exclusively broke the news on Wednesday night that Martin will be officially paraded in the next 48 hours after convincing new chairman Andrew Cavenagh that he was the best man for the job. The Englishman has been without a club since getting the sack at Southampton last December, just six months after leading the club back to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs. It's believed the ex-Gers and Scotland defender had been in discussions with Leicester City but has knocked back the chance to replace Ruud van Nistlerooy by finalising a return to Govan instead. The appointment brings the near four-month-long search for a new manager in Govan to an end. The Light Blues had been without a permanent boss since sacking Philippe Clement at the end of February, with former club captain Barry Ferguson taking on the reins on an interim basis for the remainder of the campaign. But with 49ers Enterprises completing their takeover of Rangers last Friday, the hunt to get a new man in the dugout was ramped up. Sweeping changes in the Ibrox hierarchy have also seen Kevin Thelwell appointed as the club's new sporting director, with fellow Everton colleague Dan Purdy also joining Gers as technical director. Martin has already had a brief taste of what being at Ibrox is all about, having spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan with Gers during his playing career. The 39-year-old will be keen to get down to business straight away, with Rangers entering the second qualifying round of the Champions League on July 22/23. It's expected he'll be joined by long term assistant Matty Gill, while former Gers full-back Maurice Ross has also been earmarked for a key role in the coaching staff Martin's arrival comes following a major plot twist in talks with rival target Davide Ancelotti, who suddenly appeared to cool on the prospect of making the move from Madrid to Glasgow's south side. The son of managerial great Carlo appeared to be the frontrunner after holding a series of discussions with Thelwell and Gretar Steinsson, football adviser to the San Francisco 49ers. But Ancelotti's camp began to stall on a move to Ibrox at the start of this week, with the young coach being lined up by Como as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas - who could succeed Al-Hilal-bound Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan. Rangers on verge of appointing Russell Martin as new head coach
Rangers are finalising a deal to appoint Russell Martin as their new head coach, the PA news agency understands. The 39-year-old former Southampton boss will be installed in the Ibrox hotseat in the next 48 hours, barring any last-minute hitches. The appointment of a new man at the helm is the latest in a series of major changes at the club. An American consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises secured a majority shareholding on Friday and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell officially began work on Monday, when he said that the recruitment of a new head coach would come to a conclusion 'in the coming days'. Outgoing Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo Ancelotti, and Martin were the two frontrunners for the post, vacated by Philippe Clement in February, with former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson taking over to the end of the season, which ended trophyless. However, it is the former MK Dons and Swansea boss, who had a short loan spell as a player at Rangers in 2018, who will be tasked with wrestling the power back from the other side of the city where Celtic this season won their 13th William Hill Premiership title in 14 seasons and have a stranglehold on Scottish football. However, many Rangers fans have revealed some dismay at the notion of Martin's arrival. The former Scotland international brought Southampton up to the Premier League through the play-offs in 2024 but was sacked in December as they headed back towards the Championship with one win from their first 16 games. Chris Hughton, Martin's boss at Norwich, offered a glowing character reference, saying on talkSPORT: 'If I'm looking at Russell's managerial background, he is known of course, for playing a certain way, very expansive in the way that he wants to play, very much a passing game and progression through the thirds. 'But he's a strong personality also. He's had a few knockbacks in his football career so far. 'I think any knockbacks, he will look at very much as experience and look to improve in every aspect that he can. I saw him recently, and he was in good form and really looking forward to getting back into the game. 'I think he's had a few offers. So this is somebody that's still very respected in the game, and of course, the rollercoaster in management, there are always going to be ups and downs, but he's a very confident individual and very confident in what he wants to do on the football pitch. 'He was very much a leader in the changing room, vocal in the meetings that we had and, of course, he was my voice when it came to any sort of direction on the players. 'So no surprise to me that he eventually went into management. He always showed those characteristics. And he was somebody that, as he improved in his career as a player, is of course very much looking to improve the same way in management.'

Topi Keskinen is Aberdeen marathon man as gruelling schedule almost over bar one more target to hit
The Finn has been paying non-stop for almost 18 months but Scottish Cup party wasn't the end of the hard work Scottish Cup hero Topi Keskinen hasn't had a break for 18 months and won't get one until after this month's Euro Under-21 tournament finishes. The Finnish star played half a season for HJK before he moved to Aberdeen in an £800,000 move last August, which has seen him play constantly for the last year-and-a-half. It has been non-stop for the flying winger but he is looking for one last push, with Finland's young guns gracing the Euros for only the second time in their history. Keskinen will head to the finals in Slovakia full of confidence after helping Aberdeen shock Celtic in last month's Scottish Cup Final. When asked about his gruelling schedule, he said: 'Yes, of course it is. I knew already when I didn't get sold in the January transfer window, I was like, 'OK, now I'm in Helsinki.' 'I was like, 'OK, now the target is to go in the summer.' 'I knew already that it's going to mean I will have a long season but I've done better than I thought I would do. 'Of course it's mentally and physically tough. I think mentally it's even harder than physically. Yes, it is but you're still waiting for professional football. 'It's good that you have so many games, you don't have that much time to think about it, it's just football. 'I have the Euros and after that one I'll take it easy. But it's just football, it's not that deep, you know? 'If I play one-and-a-half years, everyone has different stories and all that so I just need to make sure I recover well to the different games.' The 22-year-old's last lengthy break was back in December 2023 but even then he didn't get a long breather as HJK had group stage Euro football. That's something he will be returning to with Aberdeen. He recalled: 'I came back to Helsinki in January and we had a longer season because we were in the group stage. 'We were still playing in the group stage and we had to come back from our holidays. So I had December off and then I was back in.' Finland are out make their mark at the Euro finals but they have a tough opener against a talented young Dutch side next Wednesday. They then take on Ukraine and Denmark in a whirlwind seven days. Keskinen and his team aren't going to make up the numbers, with the Dons star making it clear that progress from their section is the aim. Keskinen, along with a handful of his team-mates, has already been capped at senior level so it shows the potential in their squad. One of his four outings for the senior side came at Wembley and that experience will stand him in good stead for the Euro finals. He said: 'It's in Slovakia and we play Holland, Ukraine and Denmark. It's an OK group. We want to go through because we have a really good team. 'Four or five of the group already have full Finnish caps.' It is also a competition that will put Keskinen in the shop window. It has been more than 15 years since the Finnish Under-21s last qualified for these finals. It has been a big thing back in his homeland as they look for a new golden generation to burst on to the scene. Keskinen admitted: 'My friend Jukka Raitala, he's 36 now, he was in the group last time they were at the Euro finals. 'So it's been a while. Jukka was my team-mate in Helsinki, he played centre-back or left-back. He still plays now (for Gnistan).' The Finn will get a break after the Euros to finally recharge the batteries before he gets ready to go with Aberdeen in the Europa League qualifiers. Jimmy Thelin will be looking to build on their Scottish Cup win as he prepares for his second season at Pittodrie. Keskinen now has more competition in the wide areas with Aberdeen snapping up Australian winger Nicolas Milanovic from Western Sydney Wanderers. But the Finn has been one of the first names on the team sheet and he's confident of rising to the challenge and shining in the new campaign at home and abroad. The summer break will give him the chance to find some more energy and he said: 'After the last game of the Euros, I'll get some time off. June 18 is the last match of the group stage so it all depends on how far we get. 'When you play 18 months of football in a row, you don't really need a full pre-season. 'I'm likely to get extra time off having been involved at the Euros.'
