Donovan Mitchell breaks silence after crushing Cleveland Cavaliers defeat in playoffs
After the devastating 114-105 defeat against the Indiana Pacers at the Rocket Arena on Tuesday, May 13th, the Cleveland Cavaliers fans were in disbelief to see their home team out of the playoffs. However, it was evident that the Pacers just needed one more win as they led the series 4-1.
Still, it was heartbreaking for Donovan Mitchell, who gave his all in the game. Post-game, the Cavs' standout made an honest admission about the Game 5 loss and playoff exit. "We didn't get it done... especially at home. That's what hurts, you know?" Mitchell said.
Mitchell didn't shy away from the harsh reality of their defeat. He shared that the loss would spark criticism from the media and fans alike. But instead of avoiding it, Mitchell embraced the idea that the outside noise could serve as motivation. Having been through tough playoff moments before, he revealed that the team understands what it takes and plans to channel the sting of this elimination into fuel for next season.
"Getting beat down like this. And y'all are gonna write some sh*t about us, man, and that's gonna be fuel. Like, fuel for everybody. Y'all gonna say a lot of sh*t. Y'all are, and that's what it takes. I've been here, so I understand. We understand, and now we just got to use it as fuel for next year."
He added, "Y'all gonna write us the f*ck off, man...We'll be back."

Cleveland Cavaliers' Darius Garland undergoes toe surgery following playoff injury

(Image Source - Getty Images) The Cavaliers' chances of making the playoffs look dimmer now that Darius Garland will be out for a long time. Because of the painful injury to his left great toe in the playoffs, Garland was operated on June 9, 2025, and is expected to be out for about four to five months. Since he is not expected to be ready before September, his absence may influence both the squad's guard unit and how the Cavaliers operate during the offseason. Cleveland Cavaliers ' Darius Garland faces extended recovery after toe surgery Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland, who is 25 years old, had successful surgery to fix a left great toe injury that affected his play during the 2025 NBA playoffs. The operation was carried out by Dr. Nicholas Strasser at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, with input from Cavaliers team doctor Dr. James Rosneck and Dr. Bob Anderson from OrthoCarolina. The Cavaliers shared that Garland should be back to basketball activities by the beginning of training camp in late September. Garland got hurt on March 23, 2025, and even though he dealt with it during the regular season, he ended up missing four playoff games. He came back for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Indiana Pacers but had a tough time, averaging only 14 points with a shooting percentage of 34.2% in the last three games. The front office of the Cavaliers is now dealing with some key decisions about roster building and possible trades. With Garland's recovery timeline still up in the air, the team might need to check out options to enhance the backcourt. Moreover, Garland's injury could sway the Cavaliers' strategy regarding free agent guard Ty Jerome, who recently enjoyed the best season of his NBA career. As the Cavaliers deal with these hurdles, everyone will be keeping an eye on how much Garland's absence affects them. His leadership and scoring skills played a huge role in the team's success throughout the regular season, and how quickly he recovers will be crucial for the Cavaliers' chances in the next season. Also Read: Jrue Holiday's $32.4M cap hit makes him prime trade candidate for cost-cutting Boston Celtics Darius Garland not being able to play due to surgery is a big disadvantage for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they approach the new season. Even though the team is optimistic about having him during training camp, not knowing for sure leaves the Cavaliers with a challenge during the offseason. In the following months, it will matter a lot how Garland is doing and how the team will move forward while he is absent.

NBA analyst makes a bold prediction about Oklahoma City Thunder ahead of Game 3 of 2025 Finals

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander via Getty Images With the Oklahoma City Thunder bouncing back in power, the Indiana Pacers are currently in a tough spot. The turn of events in the second game of the 2025 NBA Finals has brought the Oklahoma City Thunder back into the picture after being defeated in Game 1. Recently, a reputed NBA analyst made a bold prediction after the comeback of the Oklahoma City Thunder during Game 2 of the 2025 NBA Finals. The blunt claim made by the former basketball star has left the Indiana Pacers' fans curious and tense. NBA analyst Richard Jefferson makes a strong claim about the OKC Thunder The indomitable spirit of the Oklahoma City Thunder brought the NBA back in action mode, which has left the NBA world in awe. After being defeated by the Indiana Pacers in Game 1, the tie between both the NBA teams has given the much-needed push to the OKC Thunder. During a recent appearance on ESPN's basketball show, popular NBA analyst Richard Jefferson opened up on the potential of the Oklahoma City Thunder during game 2 of the 2025 NBA Finals recently. He said- 'Love it that Tyrese said, 'I've got to get myself going earlier in the games. I've got to get the feet in the paint, and you saw that in the fourth quarter, he had five going into the fourth, and then he gets those 12 points, but the game is out of reach. It's a 20-point game. Those are empty calories.' Richard Jefferson on Tyrese Haliburton's Game 2 performance He further mentioned that it is the 'time of death' of the Indiana Pacers. Jefferson discussed 'So when I am talking about a team like Haliburton leading that, I can't just stand. Okay, this is what I am saying: in those moments when Haliburton was ahead, they weren't attacking enough. They weren't able to get enough into the transition, and just ultimately, you've got to give credit to the OKC team.' The Indiana Pacers fought with grit all night, pushing the Oklahoma City Thunder to the edge. Every possession felt like a battle, but in the end, it was the Thunder's late-game poise that made the difference. With the game — and perhaps the series — hanging in the balance, Oklahoma City found another gear and pulled away when it mattered most. Their comeback didn't just flip the scoreboard — it shifted the tone of the series and sparked conversation across the basketball world.
