ITV4 has shown the European Championship, World Series of
Darts
, Players Championship, UK Open and
the Masters
since 2008.
But Channel 5 are now close to securing the free-to-air broadcast rights for those tournaments.
Matchroom, which runs the PDC, will take charge of production for all events not shown on
Sky
Sports.
That means ITV staff, including presenters and commentators,
next
year, with Matchroom to select the new teams.

Matchroom chairman Barry Hearn said of the switch: 'We live in a numbers game. ITV4 has been fantastically successful for us in the numbers it's got.
'We need to be more encouraging to the younger market, which involves talking to them in the language that they understand and the medium that they understand.
'And that's why the world is becoming more digital. The
future
is more Netflix than free-to-air.
'It's going to involve a multiple number of broadcasters. Some free-to-air, some behind the pay model.

Rory McIlroy's odds drift as clear favourite emerges for US Open
Rory McIlroy has seen his odds drift out to 12/1 to win this week's US Open. The Northern Irishman has struggled for form since winning the Masters back in April and finished way off the pace at last month's PGA Championship. That event was won by Scottie Scheffler who is the clear favourite with Betfair to win his first US Open title and his third major in total at Oakmont this week. Scheffler is in the form of his life and followed up his PGA win with a fantastic victory at the Memorial Championship. Just behind Scheffler in the bookmakers' pecking order is defending champion Bryson DeChambeau. The American has twice won the US Open in his career, memorably pipping McIlroy in an epic encounter last year. Betfair spokesman Sam Rosbottom said: 'The third Major of the year is already upon us, with the world's best arriving at Oakmont Country Club hoping to beat Scottie Scheffler. The American won the USPGA Championship last month and is 11/4 favourite to back up that triumph. 'Having appeared to be suffering somewhat of a dip with his performance following his Masters win in April, Rory McIlroy was way back in the field at Quail Hollow and has been given a 12/1 chance of bouncing back here. 'The last time the US Open was held at Oakmont Country Club in 2016, Dustin Johnson won the tournament and he is 125/1 to repeat the feat this weekend. Shane Lowry was a runner-up on that occasion and is 40/1 to win this weekend.' Betfair - US Open odds Scottie Scheffler - 11/4 Bryson DeChambeau - 7/1 Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy - 12/1 Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg - 22/1 Collin Morikawa - 25/1 Joaquin Niemann - 30/1 Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry - 40/1 Sepp Straka, Patrick Cantlay - 45/1 Brooks Koepka, Viktor Hovland, Corey Conners, Tyrell Hatton - 55/1 BAR - 60/1

What time is Shane Lowry teeing off today at the US Open?
Thursday sees the beginning of the 2025 US Open as Shane Lowry looks to add to his 2019 Open Championship to double his major tally. We are moments away from the action in Oakmont Country Club as the final preparations are being made. Lowry tees off this morning after a decent showing in the Canadian Open last week, which is seen as a curtain-raiser for this tournament. He tees off at 12:40PM Irish time today, and will have a 6:25PM tee time on Friday. His group includes his long-time friend Rory McIlroy, as well as England's Justin Rose. Speaking in the runup to the US Open, the Offaly man said that seeing McIlroy claim the Masters title meant a lot to him, and lit a spark to claim glory for himself in the future. He said: "I have never been more jealous, or more happy, of anyone in my whole life of watching what Rory did at the Masters. "I think it's incredible - for everyone, for him, for Irish golf, for everyone around him. It just puts fire in my belly to kick on and be better than I have been. "I only want to add one more to my name, one of these big ones - and obviously we have Portrush in a few weeks so there's an exciting summer ahead." All the action can be found on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Golf.
