State Rep. Fritts announces summer tour schedule
May 17—DIXON — State Rep. Bradley Fritts, R-Dixon, recently announced his summer tour of District 74.
The tour will be held Wednesdays from June 4 through Aug. 27.
"I am excited to begin my third annual summer tour to speak with constituents," Fritts said in a news release. "These annual summer tours have become one of my favorite parts of being a state representative. It allows me to meet with hundreds of constituents and have authentic conversations about their needs and priorities. Being able to assist them with state issues or bringing their ideas back with me to Springfield is what this job is all about."
The tour includes town halls and coffee and conversation events. The coffee and conversation events will be held in local coffee shops and restaurants. Fritts also will tour local businesses and attend community events.
"I look forward to meeting with as many of my constituents as possible this summer, as I work to better understand the needs of every community in the 74th District," Fritts said in the release.
The tour's first coffee and conversation event will be at 8 a.m. June 4 in Franklin Grove. A town hall also is set for 6 p.m. June 4 in Waterman.

Charges dropped against Harvey, Illinois, Ald. Colby Chapman after removal from City Council meeting
Cook County prosecutors on Wednesday dropped charges against Harvey Ald. Colby Chapman, who was arrested and removed from a City Council meeting in April. Chapman had been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer after she was arrested at the April 28 Harvey City Council meeting. At her first court appearance on Wednesday, prosecutors dropped the charges. Mayor Christopher Clark accused Chapman of being repeatedly disruptive at that meeting, and kept asking about an issue that had already been addressed, leading him to ask the council members to vote on censure Chapman and remove her from the meeting. Chapman said the city had sold a senior's home for $2,000, and she wanted to know why. Video shot by a frequent critic of the mayor, and shared on Chapman's aldermanic Facebook page, shows Chapman refusing to be removed. An officer then came to gather her belongings, prompting Chapman to say: "Don't touch my stuff!" Then Chapman pushed the officer, and was led out by police. She tried to stay in the meeting by holding onto the door. Harvey Chief of Police Cameron Biddings said she was later placed in handcuffs off camera. Clark has accused Chapman of repeatedly grandstanding at council meetings, and said she was censured and asked to leave council meetings twice before. Chapman's mother also was arrested at the meeting, and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Charges against her also were dropped on Wednesday. Boy, 15, charged with murder in shooting death of 13-year-old boy in Joliet
Joliet police said a 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 13-year-old boy shot to death in an alley Monday. Officers were called to the 300 block of South Desplaines Street in Joliet Monday shortly before 4:45 p.m. where they found the teen in an alley with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Wednesday, police arrested a 15-year-old boy who they said knew the victim and had been involved in an "ongoing personal dispute" with him. Police said they believe the 15-year-old confronted the 13-year-old as a part of this dispute and allegedly shot him twice during the confrontation. The teen was arrested Tuesday in the 600 block of Benton Street for aggravated battery, mob action and disorderly conduct from a separate incident on May 6, police said. While he was in custody, he was questioned about the shooting death of the 13-year-old. The Will County State's Attorney has charged the 15-year-old with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon. The teen is currently in custody at the River Valley Justice Center. He has not been identified due to his age. The victim has also not been identified.
