Rally Jameel 2025 kicks off in Jordan

Rally Jameel, the first women-only navigational rally in the Middle East, kicked off its fourth edition in the historic city of Petra, marking its first-ever cross-border expansion beyond Saudi Arabia.
The opening ceremony welcomed key Jordanian figures, including Dr. Fares Braizat, Chief Commissioner of PDTRA; EYazan Mahadin, PDTRA Tourism Commissioner; Emad Ali Al Helalat, PDTRA Tourism Director; Mr. Muayyad Abu Rumman, CEO of JHRC; and Mr. Zaid Balqez, CEO of Jordan Motorsport.
Spanning five days and 1,600 kilometres, the rally charts a course from Petra through Tabuk, AlUla, Hail, and ends in Qassim. The route highlights the natural beauty and cultural heritage of both Jordan and Saudi Arabia, echoing the ancient Nabataean trade routes that once linked Petra and AlUla. This year, 41 teams representing 37 countries are taking part, with four teams unable to conf i r m participation due to minor logistical issues. Rally Jameel continues to grow as a global platform for women in motorsport, promoting empowerment, inclusion, and regional tourism.
Munir Khoja, Managing Director at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, said: 'Launching Rally Jameel in Petra is a pivotal step toward elevating women's motorsport while expanding Saudi Arabia's global sporting presence.'

Rally Jameel 2025 is the most ambitious edition yet—combining adventure, cultural exchange, and sporting excellence. It strengthens the region's role in the global motorsport scene while celebrating the resilience, talent, and leadership of women drivers.

H.E. Minister tells ILO Bahrain sees labour rights as economic lever

Addressing the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, H.E. Minister Khalaf said the Kingdom was committed to aligning employment policies with legal protections and social justice, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 'Safeguarding workers' rights and promoting decent jobs are not just values, they are engines of development,' H.E. the minister said, reflecting on the conference theme, 'Forging the Link Between Jobs, Rights, and Economic Growth.' Integrated reforms H.E. the minister outlined a series of reforms and legal initiatives underway in Bahrain to protect trade union freedoms, support social dialogue, and strengthen workplace safety. The Minister drew attention to Bahrain's Tier 1 status in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year, calling it an international recognition of the Kingdom's effective and proactive efforts to combat exploitation. His Excellency Khalaf also noted the complete absence of child labour in the Kingdom, the country's anti-discrimination protections, and the rollout of updated occupational health and safety standards. Youth and women H.E. Also stressed that Bahrain's labour vision also prioritises inclusion, with programmes aimed at increasing youth participation in the labour market and promoting the advancement of women in the workforce. Khalaf praised the report by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo and echoed its call to see workers' rights as integral to economic resilience.

TDT | Manama Bahrain's brightest young innovators are set to represent the Kingdom on the regional stage in Egypt this November, after topping INJAZ Bahrain's 17th Young Entrepreneurs Competition. Held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, the event brought together more than 1,000 students from schools and universities nationwide, who pitched bold business ideas in a high-stakes entrepreneurial contest. Winning teams will now compete in the INJAZ Al-Arab Regional Young Entrepreneurs Competition in Cairo. Bold ideas The national-level contest featured 20 student-led companies formed under INJAZ Bahrain's flagship Company Programme, giving participants the chance to launch real businesses and build investor-ready products and services. This year's edition also marked the organisation's 20th anniversary, underscoring two decades of commitment to equipping youth with business acumen and leadership skills. Corporate support Major Bahraini companies supported the event, with five new special awards introduced by sponsors including Alba, Tamkeen, Beyon, Bapco Energies, Basrec, bni, CrediMax, and NBB. Egypt Dominate Bahrain in Opening Friendly
TDT | Manama Mixed Signals in Cairo Bahrain's men's volleyball team opened their training camp in Egypt with a 4–0 defeat to the hosts in a friendly match at the Dr Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Cairo. The straight-sets loss (25–23, 25–20, 25–18, 25–23) was a challenging start to the side's preparations for the upcoming Asian Men's Volleyball Championship. Though Egypt took control of most sets, Bahrain showed signs of resistance, particularly in the tightly contested first and fourth. Ultimately, the home side's match fitness and home advantage gave them the edge. Setbacks Serve a Purpose The match was the first in a series of tune-ups during Bahrain's training camp, which runs through 12 June. The trip forms a key part of the team's lead-up to the continental tournament, set to be hosted in Bahrain from 17 to 24 June. For Bahrain's coaching staff, this early test provides a reference point. Serve reception, defensive transitions, and match tempo are areas likely to receive focus in the days ahead. Egypt's Edge With their domestic season recently concluded, Egypt looked more polished across key phases. Their consistency and physical presence were evident, especially in the middle sets where they pulled away with minimal resistance. Still, Bahrain's competitiveness in the tighter sets showed the potential for progress. A handful of errors late in the opening and closing sets proved decisive. Focus on Asian Cup More friendlies are expected in the coming days, offering Bahrain a chance to recalibrate. These matches will help fine-tune combinations and build cohesion before the squad returns home for the final phase of preparations. While the result in Cairo wasn't ideal, it came with timing that allows for correction.
