The ongoing contract conflicts have prevented Stewart from participating, despite his attendance at team activities without a signed contract. According to reports from NFL Draft and college football analyst Jordan Reid, if negotiations continue to trend downward, Stewart could opt not to play in 2025 and find a new team in the 2026 NFL Draft. With Stewart officially leaving minicamp, the rift between the Miami, Florida, native and the Bengals continues to grow larger. When speaking to the media on Tuesday afternoon, Stewart expressed his frustrations toward the franchise's constant pursuit of setting a new precedent with rookie contracts moving forward. "I'm 100 percent right. I'm not asking for nothing y'all have never done before," Stewart said. "But in y'all case, y'all just want to win arguments (more) than winning more games. I can't say what I really want to say, but it's their contract. They can do what they want with it." Some would interpret Stewart's comments as harsh for a rookie entering his first year dealing with a professional football franchise in this matter. However, he is a game-changer when he steps on the field and could rejuvenate a defensive unit that ranked 25th overall last season. His ability to contribute heavily to a defense was proven during his time at Texas A&M, where Stewart made the All-SEC team twice and recorded 65 total tackles (30 solo tackles), 11 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Beyond his statistics, the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder brings an athleticism that is unmatched by most defensive players in this year's draft class. Stewart completed the NFL Combine by running the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds, with a 40" vertical and a 10'11" broad jump. Most media members and fans of the Cincinnati Bengals believed that Stewart would make an immediate impact on the gridiron, given his athletic abilities, which were showcased against SEC competition during his three years with the Aggies. For now, it appears that the franchise will remain committed to setting a new precedent for rookies. This would allow front offices to avoid putting guaranteed money into rookie contracts, in case the relationship deteriorated and eventually fell apart due to injury, a clash of personalities, or other potential conflicts deemed detrimental to the franchise. This is the main conflict between the Bengals' rookie and the organization, with Stewart fearing that he will lose out on money in his contract due to any potential injuries or mishaps in minicamp, should Cincinnati decide to move on or renegotiate the terms under this new umbrella. New York Giants' Jermaine Eluemunor takes notice of grass turf at MetLife Stadium What would MetLife Stadium look like if the playing surface consisted of natural grass instead of the artificial turf they've had since 2010? Thanks to the rules of FIFA, which will play nine games of their Club World Cup 2025 at MetLife, we've gotten a preview. FIFA prefers, but does not require, all matches to be played on natural grass. Artificial turf can be used in certain cases but it must meet strict guidelines. MetLife Stadium currently utilizes a synthetic turf called FieldTurf Core HD, which was installed before the 2023 NFL season. The previous surface, UBU Speed S5-M, was troublesome to many players who claimed the surface was responsible for a spate of leg injuries. MetLife is a heavily used venue, where both local area NFL teams, the New York Giants and New York Jets, play their home games. The venue also hosts numerous other events, including concerts. Natural grass would likely not survive, hence the choice to utilize the artificial surface. Still, that did not prevent the NFLPA and Giants offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor from taking notice. Players across the league regularly gripe about the playing surface at MetLife Stadium, expressing their preference for natural grass but stability concerns remain. "I want to get to the point where the experts can tell us that late in the season we can have a safe, playable grass field, and when we get to that point, then maybe we'll make the switch," Giants co-owner John Mara said last year. "With the amount of events in our building, particularly during the football season, having two teams there, and how many times last year we had back-to-back games where it rained during the first game, I can't imagine what a grass field would've looked like on a second day." The number of events and four seasons in the Northeast continue to pose a problem.

Auburn basketball learns opponent for 2025 ACC-SEC challenge Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers will face a former SEC head coach in this year's edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge. The 2024 ACC-SEC Challenge was a huge success for the SEC, who posted a 14-2 record in the event. Auburn, unfortunately, was not on the winning side of last year's challenge, falling to Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, 84-78. This year, the Tigers will aim for revenge in front of their home crowd as they will host the NC State Wolfpack at Neville Arena for this year's edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. This year's matchup is intriguing as it will pit Auburn's Bruce Pearl against former LSU head coach Will Wade, who is set to begin his first season as the Wolfpack's head coach after spending the last two seasons at McNeese State. Wade is set to take on the challenge of building NC State back into an ACC contender after the program recorded a 38-34 record, with a 14-26 mark in ACC play over the last two seasons under Kevin Keatts. Wade won 105 games in five seasons at LSU. Since arriving in Raleigh, Wade has worked tirelessly in his rebuilding efforts through the transfer portal by landing former North Carolina forward Ven-Allen Lubin, former Houston forward Terrance Arceneaux, and ex-Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams. He also landed the nation's No. 14 recruiting class with four-star guard Matt Able headlining the haul. Auburn basketball will nearly start from scratch with its roster following last season's Final Four run. Auburn signed key players, including Mississippi State forward Keshawn Murphy, the Big 12's leading scorer Keyshawn Hall, and a talented wing player in Elyjah Freeman this offseason. Pearl also landed a top-20 recruiting class that features two JUCO stars and a pair of four-stars from the high school ranks. This season's matchup with NC State has the makings of a classic.
