Man held with banned pharma drugs, prohibited foreign cigarettes in Delhi
NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly storing and transporting banned pharma drugs and prohibited foreign cigarettes from southwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
Operation linked to Dubai-based kingpin using social media apps for communication. A total of 83,090 tablets of banned pharma drugs (Alprazolam and Zolpidem) and 26,000 packets of prohibited foreign cigarettes without legal warnings or MRP recovered, they said.
Police got a tip-off regarding certain international cargo courier service operators in the Mehram Nagar area who were involved in supplying prohibited narcotic medicine tablets and imported cigarettes.
The police examined CCTV footage of the area and identified the suspect's location in Mehram Nagar. On May 11, a trap was laid. Around 7.30 pm, a person was seen exiting the building who was questioned where he revealed his identity as Sanjay Kumar Pandey, a resident of Jaunpur district in UP. During the search, a large number of cartoons containing prohibited narcotic medicine tablets and imported cigarettes were recovered from the premises, a senior police officer said.

"We have tried to reduce political interference by involving students in academics and other activities. Previously, classes were not held regularly, and students engaged in politics, leading to brawls and fights. However, the situation has changed completely. We have restricted outsiders on campus, and students are encouraged to participate in academics and activities that aid their careers. These have helped us reform the college's image. Security was enhanced," he added. Surendranath Law College was notorious for campus violence in the past. But it has improved its image considerably in recent years by implementing measures to address untoward incidents, particularly gender-based violence. New Delhi: A 43-year-old man was shot dead while his daughter was injured when armed men on a bike fired several shots at the duo on their morning walk on Friday in northwest Delhi's Bawana. The deceased was identified as Deepak Kumar. Police claimed that the murder was a fallout of a gang war, and UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu was behind the killing. Kumar was allegedly shot eight times from close range near the fields adjoining his farmhouse. Sources said that he was the nephew of underworld don Manjeet Mahal, and the murder might be linked to a long-standing feud between Mahal and London-based Nandu. "Kapil Sangwan suspected Kumar was actively working for Mahal and thus ordered the hit," alleged a police source. They likely knew he stepped out each morning for walks and waited for the right moment to strike," a police officer commented. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting, which occurred just a few metres from Kumar's residence. The deceased was reportedly involved in trading and other business activities. Kalyani family feud escalates: Baba Kalyani's sister Sugandha alleges asset grab by younger brother
Pune: Sugandha Hiremath , sister of industrialist Baba Kalyani , on Friday accused her younger brother Gaurishankar Kalyani of usurping ancestral properties in Karad, Maharashtra, as part of an ongoing legal battle over the division of Kalyani family assets in a Pune court . In an affidavit, Sugandha claimed she has uncovered evidence that two large family-owned properties in Karad were transferred to Gaurishankar, allegedly using a power of attorney (POA) granted by their late father Neelkanth Kalyani. The affidavit states that legal disputes over these properties, filed earlier by their father, are still pending in a Karad court. The allegations are part of a suit filed by Sugandha, her husband Jaidev Hiremath, and their two children, seeking partition of the Kalyani family assets to claim their share of the Kalyani Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets. The disputed assets include stakes in Kalyani group flagship Bharat Forge along with other listed and privately held companies as well as properties across the country. Sugandha has sought an injunction restraining her brothers from alienating any family assets, including promoter shares of about 250 group companies, until the case is resolved. Sha has also sought a directive for both her brothers to disclose the full list of family properties.
