China lodges stern representations over US-Japan-Australia-Philippines' hype over so-called 'China-threat'
BEIJING, June 3 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to the United States, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines for hyping the so-called "China threat" and inciting regional confrontation over issues related to the East China Sea and South China Sea, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
China has lodged stern representations with them, said spokesperson Lin Jian at a daily press briefing in response to questions regarding the negative comments made by the four countries about China at the Shangri-La Dialogue.
"Bloc politics and camp confrontation reflect a Cold War mentality, which runs counter to the trend of the times and is unwelcome among regional countries," Lin said, adding that such acts neither resolve problems nor can they intimidate China.
Lin said China's determination and will to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests are steadfast.
"We urge the United States and its allies to stop smearing and vilifying China on maritime issues, distorting the facts, and shifting blame.
"They should cease forming exclusive 'small circles' and halt actions that undermine or disrupt regional countries' efforts to resolve disputes through dialogue, uphold peace, and maintain stability," Lin said. - Bernama-Xinhua

WINDHOEK, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will use its participation in the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) in China's Hunan Province to deepen strategic partnerships and unlock new development opportunities, the Ministry of International Relations and Trade said Thursday. "Our active participation underscores our commitment to building strategic partnerships with all our development and trading partners, that will unlock opportunities for our citizens and position Namibia as a key player in regional and continental development," the ministry said in a statement. According to the statement, Namibia will take part as one of the guest countries of honor in the 4th CAETE in Changsha, Hunan Province, from June 12 to 15. Hajj 2025 draws over 1.67 million pilgrims, Saudi statistics show
RIYADH, June 5 (Xinhua) -- More than 1.67 million pilgrims are performing Hajj this year, Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics said on Thursday, as worshippers gathered for the pivotal rite of standing at Arafat. Of the total 1,673,230 pilgrims, 1,506,576 arrived from abroad through various air, land, and sea entry points, while 166,654 were from within the kingdom, including both Saudi citizens and residents. Male pilgrims accounted for 877,841 of the total, while female pilgrims numbered 795,389, according to official figures. The announcement came as pilgrims converged on the plain of Arafat, east of Mecca, for the most significant ritual of the Hajj pilgrimage -- a day of prayer and reflection considered the spiritual climax of the five-day event. Saudi authorities said the movement of pilgrims to Arafat proceeded smoothly, with traffic flowing efficiently and operational plans fully implemented. Hajj, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is a religious obligation for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey. This year's pilgrimage runs from June 4 to June 9.
