KUWAIT: Boursa Kuwait was awarded the 'Best for Sustaining Communities –Middle East' award for 2025 by Global Finance as part of the magazine's Sustainable Finance and Investment Banking Awards ceremony in London, United Kingdom, on May 13, 2025.
Global Finance's recognition of Boursa Kuwait reaffirms the company's unwavering commitment to the highest standards of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) implementation and reporting and adopting them within its operational framework. It also reflects Boursa Kuwait's strategic vision of embedding a culture of corporate sustainability through impactful initiatives that drive lasting, positive change in the community and support the development of a more transparent and efficient capital market.

Two Commerce Ministry employees sentenced to 10 years for bribery, abuse of power
KUWAIT CITY, June 4: The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Abdulwahab Al-Maili, sentenced two employees of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry—a supervisor and a transaction coordinator—to 10 years in prison each. In addition, they were fined 400,000 Kuwaiti dinars and dismissed from their positions. The operation, conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is part of ongoing security efforts to combat corruption and enhance public safety. Authorities emphasized that the suspects have been referred to competent legal bodies for prosecution. Security officials stressed that the law applies equally to all, with no exceptions, and reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing anyone who threatens national security.

Kuwait Ends Fee Exemptions for Work Visa Transfers
KUWAIT CITY, Jun 4: Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Youssef, has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 4 of 2025, introducing key amendments to the country's work permit regulations. The new resolution modifies provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. 3 of 2024, specifically targeting the mechanism for issuing work permits, the transfer of workers recruited under these permits, and the applicable fees. A major change includes the repeal of Article Two of the 2024 resolution, which previously exempted certain activities and sectors from paying additional fees for work permits based on manpower needs, as approved by the Public Authority for Manpower. Under the revised regulations, an additional fee of KD 150 will now be charged for each work permit granted on a case-by-case basis, eliminating earlier exemptions. The revised fee structure will apply to the following sectors and entities: Government-owned companies Hospitals, clinics, and medical centers licensed by the Ministry of Health Private universities, colleges, and schools Foreign investors accredited by the Investment Promotion Authority Sports clubs and federations Public benefit associations, cooperative societies, labor unions, charities, and endowments Licensed agricultural plots, including activities such as hunting, livestock pens, sheep and camel grazing Commercial and investment properties Industrial facilities and small-scale industries Additionally, the resolution abolishes Article Five, which had required the Public Authority for Manpower's Board of Directors to conduct a one-year impact study on the implementation of the 2024 decision. This move effectively cancels the need for a formal review and recommendation process previously mandated by the board. Outgoing Chinese envoy praises growth in China-Kuwait ties
KUWAIT: The Chinese embassy in Kuwait hosted a farewell reception on Monday in honor of the outgoing Chinese Ambassador. During his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei expressed his deep appreciation to Kuwaiti leadership, officials, and people as he concluded his diplomatic mission after three years of service, highlighting the remarkable development in China-Kuwait relations and the warmth of the Kuwaiti society. Ambassador Jianwei shared that his arrival in Kuwait on May 22, 2022, marked the beginning of a significant and unforgettable chapter in his diplomatic career. 'Over the past three years, I had the pleasure of witnessing Kuwait's remarkable journey toward progress under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The New Kuwait 2035 Vision has achieved tremendous success across multiple sectors, elevating Kuwait's regional and international standing,' he said. Regarding Kuwait's cultural richness, he said: 'From the majestic Grand Mosque to the vibrant Souq Al-Mubarakiya, from traditional Sadu weaving to modern architectural marvels like Al Hamra Tower and the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, the blend of heritage and modernity left a deep impression on me.'
