Russia has claimed that it had drowned more than 100 Ukrainian drones, restricted flights, and closed airports in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Ukraine has stated that country's two cities including the capital Kyiv were attacked. Attacks continue despite talks but Prisoners of War (POWs) swapped. The fresh attacks came a day after Moscow launched almost 500 drones at Ukraine in the biggest overnight drone bombardment of the war. Ukrainian and Western officials have been anticipating Moscow's response to Kyiv's audacious June 1 drone attack on distant Russian air bases, as per reports.Russian Defense Ministry reported downing 102 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions and Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula Moscow illegally annexed from Kyiv in 2014, AP reported.The drones were downed both over regions on the border and deeper inside Russia, including central Moscow and Leningrad regions, according to the Defense Ministry. Flights were temporarily restricted at multiple Russian airports, including all four in Moscow and the Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg, the country's second-largest city, as per a report on AP.Russia attacked two Ukrainian cities with waves of drones and missiles early Tuesday, killing three people and wounding at least 13 in what President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called 'one of the biggest' strikes in the 3-year-old war, AP reported.The attack struck Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa. In an online statement, Zelenskyy said that Moscow's forces fired over 315 drones, most of them Shaheds, and seven missiles overnight.The Russian Defense Ministry said an attack early on Tuesday targeted arms plants in Kyiv, as well as military headquarters, troop locations, air bases and arms depots across Ukraine. 'The goals of the strikes have been achieved, all the designated targets have been hit,' it said in a statement.The death toll rose on Tuesday from previous Russian strikes. In Kharkiv, rescuers found a body in the rubble of a building that was hit Saturday, Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote on Telegram. The discovery brought the number of dead there to five, with five others potentially under the debris, Terekhov said.A1. Niti to map gender equality progress across districts

Niti Aayog along with the ministry of women and child development, has undertaken a detailed analysis of each indicator and sub-indicator under SDG Goal 5, a senior government official told assessment report was initiated after the United Nations in its SDG Report 2024 pointed out major challenges that remain in India in achieving the goal of gender equality by World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2025, released on Thursday showed India slipped two places to 131 out of 148 countries with a gender parity score of 64.1. The idea is to see India's district-wise progress across indicators, pinpoint areas for improvement and outline interventions wherever needed to improve India's global ranking, the official said. "This will also help fast-track measures needed to achieve the goal of gender equality in the country by 2030," the official summary report on preliminary findings will be out soon and will be followed by a detailed analysis to help the government tweak policies and measures related to gender ranked 109th out of 166 countries in the Sustainable Development Report 2024 with the United Nations pointing out major challenges that remain in India in achieving the goal of gender equality by 2030."The score is moderately improving, insufficient to attain the goal," it on the SDG India Index, the country's score in 2023-24 remained unchanged at 48 compared to 2020-21 under Goal 5, suggesting slow or moderate progress. As per the Aayog's report, 13 states and one union territory have scored below the national average on SDG 5. These include Odisha, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Manipur, West Bengal, Tripura, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh and six indicators under SDG 5 include ending all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere, eliminating all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation and eliminating all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriages and female genital it also includes recognizing and valuing unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, ensuring women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life and ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.

Harvard scientist released after arrest for smuggling frog embryos into US
A Russian-born scientist and Harvard University researcher, Kseniia Petrova, was released from federal custody on Thursday after being charged with smuggling frog embryos into the US. The 30-year-old expressed deep gratitude to her supporters following her release outside a federal building in Boston."Just want to thank everybody," Petrova, who was wearing a "Hakuna Matata" T-shirt, was quoted as saying by The Associated had been in custody since February, initially detained by immigration officials after returning from a vacation in France, where she visited a lab and obtained frog embryo samples for research. She was stopped at Boston Logan International Airport and later accused by the Department of Homeland Security of lying to federal officers and planning to smuggle undeclared biological an April interview, Petrova insisted she had not intended to conceal anything and was unaware the samples required declaration.A federal judge eventually ruled that the embryos were nonliving, nonhazardous, and posed no threat. Immigration officers' actions were deemed unlawful, leading to her release from ICE custody. However, she remained under the US Marshals Service due to the smuggling of her release include travel restrictions and surrendering her passport. She must appear in court next week for a probable cause hearing. Her attorney, Greg Romanovsky, said Petrova is considering her future and has received international research very grateful to be out,' he added. 'She's weighing her options at the moment.'Academics and colleagues have vouched for Petrova's research, which aims to help develop cancer treatments.

Iran to activate new nuclear enrichment site as tensions with US rise
Iran announced on Friday that it has built and will activate a third nuclear enrichment facility amid tensions with the United States regarding a stalled nuclear deal between the countries, reported Associated Press. US President Donald Trump had previously warned that Israel or America could launch airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiators failed to reach a deal on Iran's rapidly advancing nuclear programme. A sixth round of Iran-US talks is scheduled to begin Sunday in Oman. Earlier, US defence secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly claimed that he had proof of Iran using their nuclear programme to build weapons. 'I don't want to say imminent, but it looks like it's something that could very well happen. Look, it's very simple, not complicated. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,' he said, as reported by AP. The International Atomic Energy Agency on Thursday, censured Iran, an action it has taken for the first time in 20 years, over its non-compliance wih rules on advancing nuclear enrichment. 'The Islamic Republic of Iran has no choice but to respond to this political resolution,' the Iranian Foreign Ministry and Atomic Energy Organisation said in a joint statement in response to the IAEA.
