Xiaomi on Monday, April 21, unveiled the Redmi Watch Move that is said to be its first locally manufactured smartwatch in India. The Redmi Watch Move is aimed at addressing key issues in the smartwatch market such as durability, quality of display, and the lack of accuracy in health-tracking features, according to the Chinese electronics major.
It is designed for users who are seeking fitness and wellness tracking features as well as smart task management and hands-free communication at an easily affordable price point. Hence, the Redmi Watch Move is priced at Rs 1,999. It will go on sale on Mi.com, Flipkart, and Xiaomi 's retail outlets from May 1, 2025, onwards, with pre-orders starting from April 24, 2025.
Here is a quick look at what the latest budget smartwatch from Xiaomi has to offer.
Redmi Watch Move specifications
The smartwatch has a 4.69cm AMOLED curved display with 600 nits brightness and a refresh rate of 50-60 Hz. Its chipset comprises a dual core processor by Xiaomi that makes it capable of handling complex tasks while ensuring that the user experience is smooth.
While the Redmi Watch Move has an Always-On Display for users who want the time and essential updates to be always visible, the display does not automatically adjust to ambient light surroundings.
Xiaomi also said that its strap is made of TPU material, as opposed to the standard silicon strap in other smartwatches. The anti-allergy, anti-bacterial strap is designed for all-day wear, the company said. Both straps can be quickly detached from the smartwatch body by pressing two buttons located on its underside, enabling users to switch in and switch out straps with ease.
The company said that it will be releasing standalone straps in different colours soon. Currently, the Redmi Watch Move is available in Black Drift, Blue Blaze, Silver Sprint, and Gold Rush.
On the connectivity front, the newly unveiled smartwatch is powered by Xiaomi HyperOS which means that it can sync notes, tasks, calendar events, and even real-time weather updates with Redmi smartphones and other Xiaomi devices running the same software.
The device also has Hindi language support, though the company did not specify a timeline for support for other Indian languages like Kannada or Telugu.
Redmi Watch Move health features
There are more than 140 workout modes in the smartwatch, including combat sports, training exercises like yoga, and card and board games like chess. Users can also track their menstrual cycle to better understand and manage their overall health, the company said. These tracking features are 98.5 per cent accurate, as per Xiaomi.
'Users can track heart rate, SpO₂, stress, and sleep cycles — including REM — offering deep insights into both day and night wellness,' it said. It has a spinning crown with haptic responses for easier navigation and scrolling of apps and alerts while on the move.
The device is IP68 rated meaning that it offers resistance to dust and water.
In terms of the battery life, the Redmi Watch Move packs a 300mAH battery that is said to guarantee up to 14 days of battery life. Even with Always-On Display enabled, the watch delivers up to five days of performance, the company said. A single 10-minute charge can guarantee up to two days of performance, Xiaomi further said.
