Chatra: Based on a tip off,
Giddhaur police
in Chatra arrested five youths on Friday for buying and selling brown sugar near Japua Maidan. Police also recovered 770 grams of brown sugar, a weighing machine, four mobile phones and two motorcycles from them.
The arrested youths are Shravan Kumar (24), Rahul Kumar (19), Bunty Kumar (26), Krishna Kumar Yadav (29), and Mukesh Kumar Yadav (28).
A minor was also taken into custody but was released later.
In this regard, an FIR was lodged at the police station under the
NDPS Act
.

The accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar, was injured in the leg during the exchange of fire and was subsequently arrested. He had been on the run after allegedly murdering 21-year-old Hemant Kumar during a gangwar in Sector 91 on May 26. SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said the gangster sustained a bullet injury to his right leg during the encounter. A .32 bore pistol was recovered from the spot. SP Talvinder Singh Gill said multiple CIA teams were deployed under the supervision of SP (investigation) and SP (operations), given the high-profile nature of the case. "Sandeep Kumar opened fire on the police team when they intercepted him, but he was neutralized and taken into custody," said Gill. Later, the accused was shifted to Mohali civil hospital. Following the encounter, a fresh FIR was registered against Sandeep Kumar under Sections 109, 132, 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions of the Arms Act at PS Sohana. Prayagraj: Sleuths of the Special Task Force (Prayagraj unit) on Sunday arrested two members of an interstate drug peddling gang and seized 231 kg of ganja worth Rs 85 lakh. The arrest was made near Kesar Vatia on the Kanpur-Jhansi highway while the duo was planning to deliver a drug consignment to Bijnore. Police have also seized a DCM vehicle, one mobile and Rs 330 cash from their possession. Those arrested were Jai Prakash Paswan and Rahul Kumar of Darbhanga (Bihar) and Bijnore (UP) respectively. They were booked under sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act. A team of STF, acting upon specific inputs that members of the gang were smuggling illegal ganja from Raipur (Chhattisgarh) to Bijnore (UP), intercepted a DCM vehicle and found the drugs hidden inside sacks of fish grains. The gang used to smuggle drugs from Chhattisgarh to UP towns for hefty profits, police said adding that search is on for Pawan Pandey of Pratapgarh and Yusuf Ansari of Bareilly, who were the masterminds of the gang.

Five held for MD drug trafficking in two operations in city

Indore: In two operations carried out by Indore Crime Branch, five drug peddlers were arrested for trafficking MD drugs. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police intercepted two consignments and recovered a total of 71.38 grams of MD drug, a car and a motorcycle. The estimated market value of the seized contraband, including the vehicles, stands at approximately ₹80 lakh. In the first operation, police apprehended four individuals near a roadside eatery under the MR10 bridge in Indore. The suspects, identified as Mohammad Sohail (22) from Green Park Colony, Mohammad Azgar (25) from Kazipura, Ratlam, along with Mohammad Faizan (22) and Shakib Sheikh (20), residents of Keshav Nagar, Indore were in a car and tried to evade police presence. Upon search, authorities recovered 57.35 grams of MD drug and seized the vehicle. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused were habitual users and were planning to procure the substance from Rajasthan to supply it across the city. A case under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at the Crime Branch police station, and further investigation is underway. In the second operation of the day, police arrested 30-year-old Haider Ali near the goods warehouse in Lakshmibai Nagar. A resident of Azad Nagar, Haider was found carrying 14.03 grams of MD drug and riding a motorcycle. During questioning, he confessed to sourcing the drug at a lower cost with the intent to distribute it among addicts in Indore. Police initiated legal proceedings under relevant section of NDPS Act and are probing the accused's connections to other suppliers and buyers in the region.
