Views sought on theatre and leisure centre project in Arnold
People are being asked to comment on potential plans to build a new leisure centre, library and theatre in Nottinghamshire.Gedling Borough Council is looking to build the new facility under its "Ambition Arnold" project north of the town centre.The project, which also includes plans to enhance the public spaces around the market and high street area, commenced in 2022.This was when the council approved a budget of £200,000 to support the development of a town centre masterplan.
An initial consultation was held last summer, when 650 residents and stakeholders gave feedback on the masterplan, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.The key features of the overall plan include upgrading leisure, cultural and retail offerings to attract more visitors while enhancing public spaces, shopfronts, and access to green spaces.It also includes developing a car parking strategy and safeguarding public transport links.The masterplan was first approved by the council's cabinet in December 2024, and work is under way to develop and complete a viable business case for the north of Arnold town centre.The final masterplan document will be presented to the council's cabinet in the autumn, following the consultation.This current public consultation - on the new arts centre, leisure centre and library facilities - will run until June 30.

Jessie revealed that she discovered she had the illness before the release of her hit new single No Secrets, which was released on April 25. The mother of one said she would be undergoing surgery after performing at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15. In the clip, Jessie said: 'Hi, I have been going back and forth a little bit on whether to share it. I want to but there's lots of opinions outside... 'Also knowing that I want to share with my fans and the people that care about me, also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life. CHOC-lovers are fuming after Cadbury reduced the size of its Dairy Milk Little Bars multipacks by a third. New packs of four are being sold for £1.40, even though packs of six cost the same last month. 1 The change has been blasted by shoppers, including many parents who bought them as kids' snacks. One fumed on the Tesco website: 'Advertised as new, only thing new is you get 4 instead of 6!! For the same price. Disgusting!' A second said: 'Stop reducing how much is in the packet and charging the same price!!!' A third added: 'Was a six pack now a four pack for the same price, a third less chocolate, unacceptable shrinkflation.' It comes after Cadbury reduced packs of Freddos from five to four and Cadbury Dairy Milk multipacks were cut from nine bars to seven. Cadbury said: 'We understand the economic pressures that consumers continue to face and any changes to our product sizes is a last resort for our business. 'However, as a food producer, we are continuing to experience significantly higher input costs across our supply chain, with ingredients such as cocoa and dairy, which are widely used in our products, costing far more than they have done previously. 'Meanwhile, other costs like energy and transport, also remain high. This means that our products continue to be much more expensive to make and while we have absorbed these costs where possible, we still face considerable challenges 'As a result of this difficult environment, we have had to make the decision to slightly reduce the weight of our Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Bars multipacks so that we can continue to provide consumers with the brands they love, without compromising on the great taste and quality they expect.' Dan Coatsworth, analyst at the investment firm AJ Bell, explained: 'The cost of producing chocolate has gone up a lot in recent years, driving up prices and prompting firms to make products smaller. We've outdone ourselves with this one' say Cadbury Ireland as they reveal new limited edition bar 'coming soon 'When production costs rocket, companies only have a limited range of options. 'They can pass on the costs to the customer through higher prices, which is difficult with a product like chocolate where people are often looking for a cheap treat. 'Another option is to reduce the size of the product in order to reduce the manufacturing cost for each bar of chocolate. Or they can try a combination of the two. 'As a last resort, companies may have to tolerate lower profit margins, especially if consumers refuse to tolerate price rises and stop buying.' The British Retail Consortium said global cocoa prices are around three times higher than in 2022, after being badly affected by poor harvests in parts of Africa.

He left Glastonbury in despair two years ago after breaking down in front of thousands - now Lewis Capaldi is to make his big stage return at this year's festival, the Mail on Sunday can reveal. Capaldi, 28, will perform in the 'secret slot' at the festival's Pyramid Stage after Alanis Morrisette on the Friday of the five-day festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset later this month. The singer-songwriter, who rose to fame with hits like Someone You Loved, struggled to complete his Glastonbury performance on the same stage in 2023 after he was hit by a Tourette's attack. Capaldi suffered an attack of the neurological condition which involves sudden and repetitive moments or sounds - and it meant he was unable to sing his chart-topping songs. While Capaldi complained that his voice had 'packed in', the audience lent him vocal support, bellowing out his greatest hits. He left the stage, saying: 'Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself'. Afterwards, Capaldi announced he would be 'taking a break for the foreseeable future' as it was 'obvious' he needs to spend 'much more time getting my mental and physical health in order'. He called it 'the most difficult [decision] of my life'. Capaldi, who had been due to embark upon a world tour, said he needed time to ' adjust to the impact' of living with Tourette's. He had charted his struggles with the condition in a documentary How I'm Feeling now, which aired in April 2023, two months before his breakdown at Glastonbury. The news of his return to Worthy Farm comes after Capaldi took to the stage for a secret performance at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh last month - the first time he has performed since. Headliner Tom Walker said Capaldi made a 'last minute' decision to perform at the low-key gig, and fans were encouraged to 'stick around' for a surprise act. The audience were also asked not to film any of the set, with their phones placed in sealed pouches throughout the performance, the BBC reported. Capaldi performed six songs, including his 2019 hit Someone You Loved, at the event, which was to help raise funds for the suicide prevention charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (Calm). Capaldi, from Bathgate, West Lothian, released his first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent in 2019. His second, Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent, debuted at No 1 in 2023, with 95,000 sold, making it the fastest- selling album of the year.
