Nashik: As many as 26 passengers travelling on a Surat-bound state transport bus from Dhule were injured when the driver lost control of the vehicle at a bend in the Kondaibari ghat near Nawapur of Nandurbar district on Monday evening. The Sakri police of Dhule said the injured people were shifted to different hospitals in Visarwadi, Nawapur, and other places by ambulances.A senior officer of the Sakri police station said the accident occurred on a slope of the ghat with a bend. The bus driver may have lost control of the vehicle on the bend. The police said the accident occurred around 6 pm.The ST bus for Surat started from Dhule, and there were 45 passengers onboard. While negotiating the bend at the Kondaibari ghat, the driver lost control, causing the bus to skid down the upper lane of the road and tumble down to the lower lane, which is at least 10 feet below. Police said the road in Kondaibari ghat has two lanes. The lane towards Surat is 10 feet above the adjoining lane towards Dhule.Police said fortunately, the bus settled on the lower lane. If it had tumbled down further, it would have fallen at least 40 feet into the valley. While most of the passengers escaped with minor injuries, a woman's hand was severely injured. One other passenger suffered a head injury, and another suffered an injury to the lower back.Personnel of the Dahiwel police chowkey rushed to the spot and called ambulances, after which the injured people were taken to different hospitals in Nandurbar.

"A total of 80 plane crash victims have been identified so far through DNA matching. Of these, the bodies of 33 victims have been handed over to their respective families," Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajnish Patel told reporters. The victims whose mortal remains were handed over were from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Kheda, Botad and other places. The first meeting of a high-level multi-disciplinary committee formed by the Centre will be held on Monday in New Delhi, according to sources. The committee, headed by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, is mandated to ascertain the "root cause" of the plane crash and assess any contributing factors, including mechanical failure, human error, and regulatory compliances. The committee has been mandated to submit its report within three months. Ahmedabad fire brigade officials said three delegations visited the crash site on Sunday including some foreigners to assist investigators.
