Geely sales gather speed behind EV demand
New-vehicle sales at Geely Automobile Holdings, China's second-largest private carmaker after BYD Co., spiked 54 percent to 232,177 in March.
The sales surge was driven by the company's electrified models, according to data Geely released April 1.
March deliveries of full-electric vehicles at the company soared 204 percent to 86,329.
Geely mainly markets electric models under the premium Zeekr brand and the mass-market Galaxy marque.

Last month, Zeekr sales rose 19 percent to 15,422 while Galaxy deliveries shot up 290 percent to 90,032.
The Galaxy Xingyuan, a subcompact sedan that hit the domestic market in October 2024, remained the top-selling EV model at Geely in March, generating volume of 32,490.
Geely's March sales of plug-in hybrids more than doubled from a year earlier to 33,367.
Overall, deliveries of EVs and plug-in hybrids reached 119,696 in March, rallying 167 percent from a year earlier and reflecting 52 percent of Geely's total sales in the month.
In the first quarter, Geely's vehicle sales climbed 48 percent to 703,824 on stronger EV and plug-in hybrid volume.
The sales growth largely reflected robust demand for the company's vehicles in China.
Geely's March exports edged up just 1 percent year on year to 37,047, with year-to-date exports rising 2 percent from a year earlier to 89,953.

The Galaxy S25+ Is so Cheap on Amazon (New All-Time Low) That Samsung Blocks Its Price From Public View
If you've recently searched for the Samsung Galaxy S25+ 512GB on Amazon, you might have come across something peculiar: the price is not visible. Rather it states 'price hidden' until you put it in your cart. This is because of a very special trade agreement with Samsung: The manufacturer is wanting to keep price drops like this a secret – especially as it was released just a few months ago. On Amazon, the Galaxy S25+ 512GB is on sale at its lowest point to date for a limited time only: The 512GB model can be purchased for $869 which is 22% off the original list price of $1119. It's obviously also a lot cheaper than if you get it from the official Samsung's store. Make sure you grab yours before it runs out of stock! See at Amazon Best in Class Galaxy Phone Launched at the start of 2025, the Galaxy S25+ is a more powerful phone than the regular S25 with extra features to match. Both phones have the same basics: unlocked Android, smart AI cameras, and Samsung's latest ProScaler display. But the S25+ adds more upgrades, which makes the higher price so much worthwhile. On top of that, with the current discount, le S25+ is more affordable than the standard S25. If you're looking for differences, the Galaxy S25 has a smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ display and starts with 128GB or 256GB of storage while the S25+ offers a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ screen and storage options of 256GB or 512GB (which is the one on sale right now). The S25+ also benefits from a higher pixel density, which makes images and text appear sharper. Beyond display and storage, the Galaxy S25+ stands out with a bigger battery (4,900mAh compared to the S25's 4,000mAh) for longer battery life for heavy users. The S25+ also supports ultra-wideband connectivity which is not available on the standard Galaxy S25 and enables features like precise device tracking and secure digital car keys. The best part of this Amazon deal is that the Galaxy S25+ 512GB now costs less than many standard S25 models, thanks to Amazon's limited-time sale. It's hard to find a better price for a top phone with all the newest features. The S25+ is unlocked, so you can use it with any carrier, and it comes with a one-year warranty for extra peace of mind. Just keep in mind that you will need to add it to your cart to see the real price: Samsung is not allowing Amazon to disclose the full discount of the price in public. See at Amazon

Galaxy, Fireblocks to Operate Nodes on Bitcoin Layer-2 Botanix
Botanix Labs has onboarded a couple of crypto industry heavyweights as node operators for its bitcoin layer-2 network. Mike Novogratz's digital asset financial services firm Galaxy and crypto custody specialist Fireblocks are among 16 new node operators on Botanix, the company announced on Thursday. The operators have been onboarded and will be live once the Botanix mainnet launches later this quarter. With the creation of a federation of different entities running nodes, Botanix Labs is establishing its eponymous network as "decentralized from the start." "The network will soon migrate to a dynamic federation to support hundreds of nodes, with the eventual goal of allowing anyone in the world to run their own Botanix node," Botanix Labs said in Thursday's announcement. Also joining the federation are blockchain developer Alchemy, bitcoin mining pool Antpool and hedge fund manager UTXO Management. Botanix's testnet, known as Aragog, introduced various tools that will form the basis of its decentralized finance (DeFi) offering: BTC-backed stablecoin Palladium, decentralized exchange Bitzy and lending and borrowing market Spindle. Botanix's protocol Spiderchain was built to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), the software that powers Ethereum. This in theory would make any smart contract or DeFi application on Ethereum compatible with Bitcoin-based Botanix. Developing Bitcoin into a settlement layer for DeFi activity elsewhere in the blockchain world has become a matter of increasing interest among the great and the good of the crypto industry. With BTC's market cap consistently accounting for over 60% of the entire crypto market, developers see the opportunity in harnessing the deep reserves held in BTC to finance applications on networks more technically suited to DeFi, such as Ethereum, Solana or Cardano. At the Dubai Token2049 conference last month Franklin Templeton's managing principal of blockchain venture capital Kevin Farrelly described this as trend as "infrastructure narrative dilution," in response to those in the Bitcoin community who believe it dilutes from BTC's core purpose as a store of value. The involvement of the likes of Galaxy and Fireblocks demonstrates that Bitcoin DeFi may become a sector that grows and grows.

Geely-owned Volvo Cars has reported a 12% decline in global sales for May, with a total of 59,822 cars sold during the period. This downturn is compared to the same period last year, indicating a significant shift in the company's sales dynamics. Electrified models, which include fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars, constituted 44% of the total sales for May, yet they experienced a 20% decrease from the previous year. Fully electric cars made up 21% of the total sales, while plug-in hybrids accounted for 23%. The XC60 emerged as the top-selling model with 19,408 units, followed by the XC40/EX40 at 14,892 cars, and the XC90 at 8,794 cars. Sales of mild hybrids and internal combustion engine vehicles reached 33,478 units in May, marking a 5% year-over-year decline. The sales of fully electric vehicles saw a significant 27% annual drop, with 12,391 units sold, and plug-in hybrid deliveries fell by 11% to 13,953 cars compared to the same period a year earlier. In the first five months of 2025, Volvo Cars sold 290,922 units, which is an 8% decrease year-on-year. In April, figures had already shown a downward trend, with a 10% drop in global sales for March 2025, primarily due to reduced sales of fully electric vehicles. The company sold 70,737 cars, compared to the same month in the previous year. Also, Volvo Group, the parent company, also reported a 7% drop in net sales to Skr121.8bn ($12.65bn) for the first quarter of 2025, ending on 31 March, down from Skr131.2bn in the same period last year. Sales declined across all regions and segments, with the exception of buses. Both adjusted and reported operating income for Q1 2025 stood at Skr13.25bn, a decrease from Skr18.15bn in Q1 2024.
