and continuous aerial intrusions and artillery shelling, normal life is slowly limping back to normal.

Residents in border areas along the Line of Control and International Border said that they are heaving a sigh of relief with many of them being able to visit the rubble of their broken homes and attend to the injured. Hundreds of people who have migrated to safer areas over the past two weeks from their homes along the LoC and IB are yet to go back to their homes permanently.
Officials said that they have not reported any ceasefire violation during the night of May 10 and 11. "This peace is fragile but it is important for people who are in the direct line of fire. Our lives were hanging in balance and it is a miracle that we survived," said Manzoor Ahmad of Razerwani area of

Back to back security review meetings are being held in Kashmir for safe and secure Amarnath Yatra. In the past six days over a half a dozen security meetings were held in the Valley for the safe and secure Amarnath yatra which begins next month. Today, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha also chaired a high-level security review meeting ahead of Amarnath yatra. The Lieutenant Governor took a comprehensive review of the security apparatus and measures deployed by the security agencies to ensure safety of the pilgrims. Sinha directed for seamless coordination among the Civil Administration, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, J&K Police, Army, Security Forces, and all the other crucial stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and successful holy pilgrimage. 'The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the working of the security grid and various significant steps being taken by Army, CAPFs and J&K Police to ensure foolproof security for the Yatra. The Lieutenant Governor also reviewed the contingency plan, deployment of police and security personnel, preparedness and response mechanism of line departments and emphasized on better coordination among all stakeholders involved in yatra management,' the J&K government spokesman said. Sinha on Wednesday had urged devotees to visit in large numbers as foolproof security arrangements are in place for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. Sinha, accompanied by senior officers, performed the 'Pratham Puja', which marked the ceremonial beginning of the annual Amarnath Yatra. Sinha also took stock of the arrangements at the Shrine. This year, Amarnath Yatra will commence on July 3, simultaneously from both the routes – the Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district-- and it will culminate on August 9 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The security will be further beefed up this year due to the attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22 when terrorists killed 26 tourists at Baisran, Pahalgam. More CRPF companies will be deployed on the yatra routes and the entire trek on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes are being searched on a daily basis. Even J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah recently said a safe and secure yatra will be the top priority of his government.

HC tells CBSE to rectify student records by updating official DoB
New Delhi: Delhi High Court has emphasised the "presumption of correctness" attached to official birth certificates and directed the Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ) to amend a student's academic records accordingly. A division bench comprising Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish V Shankar, in a recent order, underlined the "imminent need" to ensure consistency across official documents. This, the court said, not only affirms the accuracy of personal details in public records but also protects a citizen's identity—of which the date of birth is a crucial component. "A citizen of this country is entitled to a true and correct narration of all necessary and relevant particulars in the public documents that pertain to them. CBSE is a record keeper of considerable importance," the court observed, while dismissing CBSE's appeal against a single judge's order to correct the date of birth in certificates issued in 1999. The bench noted that documents like official birth certifiscates, issued by a competent authority, carry a statutory presumption of correctness under Indian law. The court reiterated that the matriculation certificate is widely regarded as "unassailable proof of date of birth", and citizens are entitled to have all public documents reflect accurate and consistent information. The plea before the court involved a student seeking rectification of her date of birth in CBSE records based on a birth certificate issued by the Greater Chennai Corporation. The HC noted that the genuineness of the birth certificate had not been disputed. It also observed that discrepancies between CBSE record and other official documents such as the individual's passport could cause serious complications, including for employment or immigration. In its defense, CBSE argued that the request for correction was filed beyond the time limit prescribed under its examination bye-laws, and that it no longer retained relevant records more than a decade later. However, the single judge had earlier ruled that the incorrect date of birth in the CBSE records appeared to result from a genuine mistake—not a clerical or typographical error. Times News Network Ludhiana: Punjab Congress working president and the party's bypoll candidate, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, on Friday said that the bypoll was a battle of Punjabis against non-Punjabis, who after looting and robbing Punjab's resources, were trying to usurp political power. "We are all fighting for Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat", he remarked, asserting that there was complete unanimity in this election that no non-Punjabi will be allowed to usurp Punjab's political authority.
