On a recent unfiltered livestream, Kanye West delivered another fiery tirade, this time targeting fellow rap heavyweights J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
Known for his unpredictable and often controversial commentary, Kanye didn't hold back, reigniting long-standing tensions within the Hip-Hop community.
Speaking on J. Cole, Kanye bluntly stated, 'When I would meet up with Drake I would ask him why are you working with J. Cole, he's not an actual person. When people would tell me they like J. Cole I be like don't tell me that. I hate J. Cole, it can't even be called music.' The harsh critique left fans stunned, especially given the mutual respect often expressed among the 'Big Three' rappers of this generation, Cole, Kendrick, and Drake. Kanye's dismissal of J. Cole's artistry seemed personal, bordering on surreal, calling into question whether there's deeper unresolved beef behind the scenes.
Ye was far from over too. Turning his attention to Kendrick Lamar, Kanye added, 'I heard Ben Affleck that Kendrick Lamar is one of his favorite rappers. I was like, bro, anybody that has Kendrick as one of their favorite rappers don't know rap.' The jab at Kendrick, long praised for his lyricism and cultural impact, raised eyebrows and drew backlash from fans and artists alike.
Whether this was another headline-grabbing rant or a sign of deeper tensions in the Hip-Hop world, Kanye once again reminded everyone, he says what he wants, no matter the fallout.

Timbaland Announces Work With AI Artist, Sparking Criticism

Source: Prince Williams / Getty Veteran producer and artist Timbaland is now working with artificial intelligence, announcing that he'll also be working with a new AI artist as part of a venture with an AI company. But the news has caused some backlash. Timbaland has launched Stage Zero, an AI-focused entertainment company, which he claims has signed the first-ever AI artist named TaTa. 'I'm not just producing tracks anymore. I'm producing systems, stories, and stars from scratch,' Timbaland said in an interview with Billboard. '[TaTa] is not an avatar. She is not a character. TaTa is a living, learning, autonomous music artist built with AI. TaTa is the start of something bigger. She's the first artist of a new generation. A-Pop is the next cultural evolution, and TaTa is its first icon.' He and Stage Zero released an image of 'TaTa,' depicted as a young, pink-haired woman. The venture is what the artist hopes will be a new genre of music called 'A-pop,' reflecting his work with Suno, a company that has reportedly used millions of copyrighted songs to train its AI engine. In an interview with Rolling Stone , he's reportedly created 50,000 songs from working with Suno, saying: 'The technology of today is perfect for what this is. What used to take me three months only takes me two days. In the beginning, it was like a toy. It was like going to a toy store. You gotta go through gluttony, because you can't believe that it's here.' The Grammy-winning producer's stance has earned him some backlash from fans and others in the music industry, notably from producer Young Guru who blasted him on his Instagram page. 'I'm going to say it again,' Young Guru wrote. 'I swear I love you bro but this ain't it. Do you not realize what is going on in the world. Your voice is powerful and way too important to do anything like this. I have students who worship you. They are going to say 'if Tim can do it, then it is ok for me to do it.' These are the times, right here, that history is defined .. Human expression can never be reduced to this!!! This is way bigger than music!!! I say this all in love.' Roxannes Revenge - How A Teenage Battle Rapper Changed Hip-Hop Forever

Source: Richard Bord / Getty 2024 will be remembered as the year of the diss track. In addition to Kendrick and Drake going back and forth, we saw battles between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice & Latto, Quavo & Chris Brown. Even Marlon Wayans wrote a country diss track against Soulja Boy. As we celebrate Black Music Month, it's only right that we credit the first diss track to become a viral sensation. At just 10, Roxanne Shanté was making noise in the underground rap scene. By 14, she was an undefeated battle rapper and a member of the Juice Crew. That opportunity came when she ran into neighbors Marley Marl, Mr. Magic, and Tyrone Williams, who were frustrated after U.T.F.O. backed out of a show. Though hesitant at first, Shanté was convinced to record a freestyle that became a seven-minute track disrupting U.T.F.O's plans. The diss track played on U.T.F.O's unreleased song 'Roxanne Roxanne', Which Shanté used as fuel freestyled from the woman in the song's perspective, to mock the group's manhood. 'Roxanne's Revenge' was released in 1984, reached #22 on Billboard, sold over 250,000 copies in New York, and sparked what's known as the 'Roxanne Wars', a battle resulting in over 30 response tracks. Roxanne was a rising star credited by Nas as an inspiration. But with fame came challenges, especially for a dark-skinned girl under 18. Beyond battling rappers, she faced physical and sexual abuse, foster care, colorism, and sexism. Decades later, women like Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, and GloRilla face similar backlash. Yet, like Shanté, they respond with bars that prove they can outrap men in the genre while facing systemic challenges. Source: Al Pereira / Getty Today, Roxanne Shanté's legacy lives on as a blueprint for authenticity in hip-hop. From lighting the Empire State Building during hip-hop's 50th anniversary to hosting on LL Cool J's Rock The Bells Radio, and receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Grammy Ceremony, Shanté continues to champion the culture she helped define. Her journey from teenage battle rapper to respected pioneer has inspired generations of female MCs to speak their truth without apology. Source: ETIENNE LAURENT / Getty LIKE US ON FACEBOOK .
