Aditi Ashok shoots 66 and rises to tied-20th at Black Desert
India's Aditi Ashok shot one of her best rounds of the season as she landed seven birdies against one bogey in a round of 6-under 66 that carried her up to the tied 20th place in the Black Desert Championship in Ivins, USA.
With rounds of 69-71-66 she is 10-under and eight shots behind the leader, Haeran Ryu of Korea, who has shot 63-67-68 to be 18-under.
Starting from the first, Aditi began with three pars and then birdied four times between the fourth and the ninth to turn in 4-under.
On the back nine Aditi birdied 11th and the 12th and dropped a shot on the 14th and finished with a birdie on the 18th.
Aditi, who has been finding the fairways and the green regularly, needed 27 putts as against 31 on the second day.
Ryu regained control of the Black Desert Championship by holing out for eagle on the 11th hole. Her 68 helped her maintain her two-shot lead in the LPGA Tour's return to Utah for the first time in more than 60 years.
Ryu is trying to win a tournament for the seventh straight year, dating to when she was an 18-year-old on the Korea LPGA. Ryu shared the 54-hole lead at a major last week in the Chevron Championship before closing with a 76.
Her biggest rival will be Ruoning Yin, the former Women's PGA champion who ran off 10 birdies for a 62, the best score of the tournament and enough to get within two shots.
Esther Henseleit of Germany had a 68 and left her three shots behind.

India's late goal from penalty was disallowed in dramatic circumstances and Jugraj Singh failed to score after it was retaken as they lost 1-2 to Argentina for their fourth successive defeat in the European leg of FIH Pro League hockey on Thursday. Drag-flicker Jugraj struck in the fourth minute off the first penalty corner of the match to give India the lead but Tomas Domene (9th and 49th) scored a brace, both from PCs, to hand Argentina the win. Down 1-2 in the fourth and final quarter, India earned a penalty stroke two minutes from the final hooter and Jugraj was successful in sounding the board. Argentina asked for a video referral on the ground that Jugraj's left foot was well ahead of the ball while he took the stroke. The video umpire ruled in Argentina's favour but India captain Hardik Singh asked the referee to check whether the Argentina goalkeeper Tomas Santiago was already ahead of the goal-line before Jugraj took the stroke. This time, India got a favourable decision from the video umpire. Jugraj was allowed to retake the stroke but his shot was saved this time by Santiago. Hardik led India as regular captain Harmanpreet Singh is down with a finger injury. Argentina got as many as eight PCs while India earned just three. India had lost to the same opponents 3-4 on Wednesday. Before that, India had lost 1-2 and 2-3 to Olympic champions Netherlands here during this European tour of the Pro League. The match will be the senior team's only simulation game before the opening Test against England at the Headingly from June 20. The intra-sqaud game acts like a pre-cursor to the Test match. The Indian team under head coach Gautam Gambhir opted for a "closed door" session to prevent the opposition from getting any ideas on the tactical front, emulating a long-established practice among European football clubs. They had done the same during the tour of Australia earlier this year. As bowling coach Morne Morkel said on Wednesday, building the stamina to bowl and field 90 overs a day is very different from normal net sessions. The four-day game, which doesn't have the official first-class status, gives batters a second go if someone is dismissed cheaply. With 360 overs of match simulation available over four days, it will give the team management a chance to allow the bowling unit get enough overs under their belt. That would be handy in ensuring that the bowlers -- be it a spinner or a pacer -- have the requisite rhythm in actual match. Gambhir will have some work to do in terms of zeroing in on lone specialist spinner for Headingley. There is Ravindra Jadeja, whose superior batting becomes a huge factor in SENA countries but against England's 'Bazballers', Kuldeep Yadav's versatility could complement pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah better if India harbour any hopes of picking 20 wickets. Jadeja versus Kuldeep is the biggest playing eleven jigsaw puzzle that needs to be sorted by Gambhir and the coaching staff. Similarly, the intra-squad game will also give the coaches and skipper Shubman Gill a chance to see which of Akash Deep's fuller length or Prasidh Krishna's back of the length stuff works better in these conditions. Bumrah, who will be playing a red-ball game after six months, will also get a chance to bowl multiple spells and test his fitness having only played IPL since his comeback from a lower back stress injury.

London, Jun 12 (PTI) England head coach Brendon McCullum believes India have arrived well-prepared and full of belief for the upcoming five-match Test series but his team is also clear about where it wants to be in the eagerly-anticipated showdown beginning June 20 in Leeds. The series will kick off India's new World Test Championship cycle. "They're an outstanding cricketing nation, who will come here with high hopes, and we are looking forward to seeing them," McCullum told 'Sky Sports Cricket'. England on the other hand have just completed a whitewash of the West Indies in a six-match white-ball series. Their focus now shifts to the red-ball format as they gear up to take India and also prepare for the Ashes later this year. "It's important the guys refresh. We know where we want to get to as a Test team." England will be without tearaway pacer Mark Wood, who has been ruled out of at least the first three Tests due to injury. Fellow quick Jofra Archer will also miss the opening Test, while Gus Atkinson is still recovering from a hamstring strain. Despite the setbacks, McCullum remains confident in England's bowling options. "There are some quality bowlers that are unavailable, but we have a nice, varied bowling attack with Chris Woakes, Sam Cook, Brydon Carse, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue for the high-pace element," the former New Zealand skipper said. "Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett have reminded me of Duckett and Zak Crawley in the Test game. We know how good Duckett is, but the power that Smith possesses is amazing. "These guys are fearless, and if you add the craft, then you hope you end up with a rounded player."
